Thanks! And yeah, I'm a huge fan of NeXt Evolution, I think it's great fun. And you can do things like use Build Support to help get Web of Life and Destiny in play, or use Call for Backup to get a big Web-Warrior ally... 😉

The thing I’m hoping for the future of Marvel Champions the most is more (and maybe longer) separate campaigns. Not in a box the way they come now, but just separate expansions for existing heroes and villains. A small box, only campaign cards and a storyline. Heck, id even love just comic book style seperate campaigns without cards at all. I want to revisit Avenger heroes in new Avenger stories and gardians of the galaxy heroes in their new stories etc!

I think campaigns should be on the easier side. Similar to what you were talking about later in the video where you want to feel like a hero, I think it's important that campaigns focus more on story than difficulty. Then if you want difficulty, you can just tweak standalone as you wish. And my prediction after Apocalypse is F4 then a trilogy of Defenders, Spiderman adjacent heroes, and supernatural/Midnight Suns.
@VillainTheory
@VillainTheory 10 месяцев назад
Overall I think I agree about campaign difficulty. One thing I think is that it's surely very easy to make things too hard - so I'd much rather have things be too easy than too hard.

Good discussion. Player side schemes in four player needs to be experienced more because you guys act like it’s easy to thwart a scheme when sometimes it has 12+ threat and not everyone is efficient thwarters. Sometimes it takes 2-3 to get rid of a side scheme and I think cable is stronger solo or 2 player. Cable has become my favorite hero for what you guys described, he’s the better version of a build up hero
@VillainTheory

I'd love to talk more about this on the podcast but, since the next episode is on a different subject, here's an essay I spent way too long writing up. It's a really interesting topic. So. I don't think player side schemes are easy to defeat as such in multiplayer, but at the same time I don't think they're particularly difficult either - a lot of it will come down to how coordinated your group's decks are and what you're running overall. Low threat removal groups will definitely struggle, and it can be tough sometimes if the group is under pressure, but most heroes can usually spare some thwarting - especially on Turn 1 when Cable's setup ability has brought one in. And if Cable chooses something like Call for Backup in 4-player and everyone gets a 4-cost ally, the profit is huge. If a 4-cost card costs us 4 resources and you also lose the card itself from hand when you would play it normally, and every card is a resource, we can consider that 5 effective resources spent in total to pay for a 4-cost ally. Now, Call for Backup is 3 threat per person and can get us a 5 effective resource ally. So how many effective resources does it take to remove 3 threat? It varies, but 2 is a good estimate in my opinion. Enabling all four heroes, you and three others, to spend 2 effective resources to get the value of spending 5 is just soooo good and gets the game off to a great start. But even 5 or 6-cost allies like Beta Ray Bill are on the table. Or just Maria Hill. The potential is crazy. Playing it safe, almost every aspect can get a 2 THW ally that can thwart twice, so just thwarting Call for Backup for 3 on Turn 1 and getting one of those 2 THW allies already puts you in thwart-profit if you survive to use them all in Turn 2 - which is almost assured. But quite often you can just take the heavy-hitting allies like Wolverine, Multiple Man and Captain Marvel and just make the villain's life miserable. And lastly, on a different note, even before Player Side Schemes were released the "meta" in 4-player was to run 2-3 copies of Even the Odds - and that card just cleaves down threat from all the side schemes. Now with Player Side Schemes, it's pretty easy to just clear 12 threat with one copy of that 2-cost card, and even "just" removing 8 threat is still great value. Throw in Overwatch and you can get 12-16 threat removal for 4 effective resources fairly often. It just blows solo or 2-player thwarting values out of the water and makes me wonder why Aggression will have to pay 1 to attach The Direct Approach (officially previewed card from X-23's pack) to a side scheme! Whew. Whether anyone reading this agrees or not, I hope it was interesting to think about! Thanks for surviving this huge comment.

Thanks for replying… only thing I will say is you need to try it to see how tough that is to accomplish. Cable feels much slower in four player

@@ghostsage6421I just finished streaming four player expert NeXt Evolution campaign and I can tell you that Cable was an absolute monster. We thwarted piles of threat every turn and cleared multiple side schemes with ease. On paper it looks tough but it really is quite easy to clear the side schemes we found.

I question I thought could spark a good discussion in the next podcast is; why do you prefer to play the game in true solo or two handed? I've found that a lot of the content creators in this space perfer to play true solo, which surprised me. I feel like there's a lot synergy with both the villain and the heroes that you lose out on in true solo compared to playing two handed. I play both ways and enjoy both tremendously but i feel like you got just that bit more from the game when you play two-handed. Would love to hear you both discuss why you prefer playing the way you do and maybe even provide some insight into why most content creators seem to prefer true solo. Love listening to the podcast, been looking forward to it since the announcement!

@@VillainTheory I meant unconfirmed spoilers. Like posts or videos from customers that get product way before street date. I am okay with the stuff that is teased and officially leaked but this wave seems to be pretty crazy with some vendors breaking street date weeks in advance.
