Maybe zato says that axl is a bit similar to him because both can be considered men of the past lost in the future. Zato because he was killed, but then was revived emotionless, even his theme in strive says how he wants to live in the past. Meanwhile axl is more literal, he's a time traveler that wants to go back to his time in the 90's

I love how Zato has nothing to say about them personally except for the colour of their consciousness / destiny / actions, with the sole exceptions of other members of the assassins guild. I wasn't sure what he was gonna say for character selects, but it makes alot of sense that all he can see is black and white.

Zato isn't completely or truly blind, he sees people as blurry patches of color and light. What he's saying for each character is what he perceives them as.

Surume no youna is often used as a compliment. The more you chew on a surume, the more flavourful it becomes. So as a compliment, it's like saying that the more you know someone, the more you like them, or there are depths to them that weren't obvious before. It sounds a bit weird if you translate it literally, but I guess it's like some English phrases where you compare someone to an animal. Like "he's like a bull in a china shop" or calling someone a dark horse, etc.

"A variety of muddled colors" may be referring to how spontaneous Jam's emotions are? Even I don't know. "Shining bright!" Might refer to May's happy and childish attitude. "A dull but everlasting light" might reference how Pot was essentially a slave for Zepp before its uprising, but still prospered in hope that Zepp changes its ways. "Monotone" for Raven may refer to his lack of swaying with emotions unless it involves pain. "I don't know." Might refer to Sol's "don't care" attitude, or maybe the Flame of Corruption prevents people from seeing the user's soul? "Darkness itself" I don't think I need to give an explanation. Sea Leaf even said what Zato calls himself.

I love these videos, please keep them coming alongside other content. What I can interpret as Zato-1 relating to Axl Low is that they are both seemingly lost at the current moment, still trying to find their bearings in their current situations, but this is an incredibly large guess. I also find it interesting that Zato refers to each character as 'Player' rather than anything that could be referring to 'Character' or 'Individual'.

I always thought Zato was saying "Yo mismo" after being selected, which is basically "myself" in spanish. It made sense considering he is spanish.
