Absolutely love the way you breakdown the way you thought out the deck before building, totally gives me a new perspective to some of my decks.

Shalai is such a great toolbox commander. We did a collaboration with the guys over at Legendary Creature and brought a Shalia deck to podcast. Awesome video DJ.

I love your channel Jumbo! You always get me excited to build new decks. I'm waiting for the next Gruul legendary and DEFINITELY building him.

Toolbox decks that incidentally value their way into combos are my favorite kinds, and this deck is super awesome. I may need to build a Selesnya deck soon. I especially love how Shalai is synergistic with the entire deck, while not being absolutely necessary, and protects your combos.

I just built a shalai human tribal deck. The spike feeder and angel combo is in here as well as midnight guard and presence of gond. Infinite 1/1 elves. I don't put automatic I win combos in commander but this is a neat one with auriok champion as well. Nice deck DJ. Much love and also great appearance on Game Knights 🤙

Shalai is a awesome commander. I builed a Shalai Token Deck which is a blast to play! :D

I love Shalai! I built a flicker variation and with hexproof on everything you can just feel free to do busted stuff and stack flicker effects

One of the best things about Shalai is the protection she gives other creatures. This makes her a very good commander for the various GW creature-based combos (anything involving Saffi, Sun Titan, Rallier, Reveillark, Feeder, Archangel of Thune, etc.). I tried to make a viable Saffi deck for a while but found that it just didn't get there a lot of the time. Putting Shalai at the helm give you protection for your combos and another line to victory. Love this list.

Well I must be smart then. Because they say Great minds think alike. We obviously know you're smart DJ. I just built Captain Sisay, and I built it very similarly to this, where it's very much a tool box kind of deck. Shalai is in the deck though. She's a good 99 card as well as a commander. She's just a damned good card. I like her. Great video my dude. Wish we could see some games of it being played.

I've built a Queen Marchesa deck with a similar idea in mind (I mean the combo finish), only instead of creatures it has a lot of pillowfort. I can't wait to test it

I'd windmill slam cathar's crusade. Maybe even a good deck to experiment wit bramble sovereign from battlebond since there's guite a lot of creatures. Awesome video! :D

I am trying to make a saskia deck like this, with the -1-1 and +1+1, using either infect, wither,persis or effects that spread it like boatfly and ephara, I also have a small birthing pod package, and a aluren cloudstone combo but I might cut that one out, could I get some help building that dj? I get super stuck chosing what to cut and whatnot

I built this with a bit more focus on ETB:s, with Emiel the Blessed as a key piece. Also: Vorinclex, Monstreous Raider was made for this deck.

I put Shalai into my Atraxa +1 beatdown deck. Paying 6 n getting to put a counter on all creatures help kick start the strategy or keep the momentum goin of +1 counters synergy goin lol.

If you want a second gyre sage, consider adding marwyn, the nurturer. Very good card.

Wish you had some ways to produce gameplay video with these so we see how they play out. Something in the mtg muddstah style at the end of the deck tech. Like 10 mins max after the presentation..but that's probably an out of scope wish.

is woodfall primus an optional ability when it comes down to it? if not then you will lose all your stuff after they lose theirs lol. unless you can intervene

Hi, I loved the idea of the deck, but I still have some questions about its workings that maybe someone can else here can answer too. For instance, how are we getting lands into our graveyard consistently enough for Excavator/Crucible to be worth playing? Only thing I can see at a glance is Knight of the Reliquary and fetchlands.

I have a Shalia deck that used to be a sigarda heron's grace deck. I say it's a human tribal, but it's more humans and their pets.

very cool deck. it's just sad that this deck list is so expensive :( I guess I could just have these combo creatures in and then switch out the rest with something cheaper. I don't have 1500+ $ to spend on a deck when I just play semi-casually. my play group does have powerful and expensive decks, but I don't think they have something like this. But I'm going to try and make a semi cheap list for about 300 $ or so if possible

Shalai is also super gross in Atraxa (as is most everything), I have her in my Atraxa deck.

The one thing that goes great with shalai voice of plenty is Karns Bastion from war of the spark

I love my Shalai deck. I've filled with with creatures who are immune to certain things/colors. Like Vine Mare, who can't be blocked by Black. Also Jiang Yanggu Wildcrafter is stupid Also I threw my Akroma's Memorial 😂.

Would solemnity work in the persist combos?
