Just one note Nick... Shane and Ryland's kids were not adopted. They are their biological children. okay, I have a lot of Shane Dawson lore since I grew up with the internet and and whatever blah blah blah - but he has infact worked a job before. When he was about 16-18 he worked at Jenny Kregg, the protein bar place as a receptionist but ultimately quit because he couldn't handle it. (not defending him!! I hate Shane with my entire being) He's just gone down the 'I'm rich and I don't care' mindset from being in the public eye and whatever

It has been my observation that rich people always see conspiracies everywhere. Perhaps they like to think that nearly everyone and everything is duplicitous because deep down they know that they don't 'deserve' the money. Maybe poor people are poor because they aren't smart enough to understand that they're being fooled. Or because they're trying to run obvious scams that prove them untrustworthy. "i am deserving of my wealth because I do not get fooled. I do not try to fool others." Feels nicer to them then "well I was born at the right time in the right place with the right opportunities."

Taking trips to stores to "expose" them, having no understanding of what it's like to be working class or how capitalism he profits from works. And what's interesting is that all these conspiracies are inconsequential because it's all about food, brands or some overpriced garbage he buys out of boredom because he seemingly doesn't have any other hobbies or interests that would expand his horizons a bit, so he fills his literal and metaphorical hole with trash. ☠️ What a miserable boring life he has.

What he took away from that was a "winning formula" for "viral gold". I genuinely think Shane can't accept or understand why he was successful. Those conspiracies didn't do well because it was good, it's because everyone was obsessed with him and looking at everything he made through rose colored glasses. He shattered the illusion while still thinking the formulas that worked when at his peak are why he was successful not realizing it was just a really early parasocial relationship before it was commonly understood.

There was a study published in Current Biology that scanned the brains of children who grew up in an environment with a lot of yelling and screaming, and their scans were similar to the ones of combat soldiers with PTSD, specifically the reactivity of children's amygdalas and AIs. But honestly it doesn't take a brain scan to know that growing up in such an environment is bad for kids, or that specifically Shane should not have children.

What sucks is that I never got yelled at. My family was great. But my sister and her kids lived with us for years and _she_ constantly screamed at her kids and I had to hear it constantly. That alone messed me up. Now my brother's (ex?)girlfriend and her kids are living with us. It's the same crap and I cannot handle it. The environment alone is enough to mess you up, whether or not you yourself got the brunt of it.

I literally worked in an Olive Garden kitchen and my main job was to do salad and breadsticks. A better "conspiracy" would be the fact the breadsticks arent made there at all. it's a bulk bag of premades we slap into the oven so they toast then get slathered with butter and seasoned salt. You can literally make your own "olive garden breadsticks" at home if you just find the same premade breadaticks.

This. They come in what looks like hotdog bun packaging. Then they are put in a tray and pushed through a long toaster oven. When they are pulled out they are painted with butter and sprinkled with a garlic salt.

In this Olive Garden video, I remember at one point when Shane orders the wrong type of breadsticks, he says "i'll donate them!" because he knows he's gonna get cancelled for wasting food lol like where are you going to donate a bunch of perishable foods to at 9PM in a dark parking lot?? Both Ryland and Shane are too scared the poor and homeless to go near a shelter anyways. I don't know if if Nick mentions this in the video, but I hope he does, I haven't finished it yet 😂

Also (as someone who works at a food pantry) - they are NOT going to take loose open food like this. Pre-packaged/boxed food only. Even our produce needs to come in boxes or bags. We care about the people we serve and don't want them exposed to unknown contaminants.

My own conspiracy theory is that, with the Olive Garden one, is that Shane is trying to distract his viewers from how much waste big corporations or even rich people produce on a daily basis. Food waste has always been a huge issue and had been talked about for years. There's been studies and data on this. Why would he be pretending big corporations care so much about not wasting food to the point they would reuse products ?

I worked for a retail food shop here in the UK. I watched the pompous, know it all manager, squirt bleach over the salad stuff that was in the large bin to stop 'any homeless person stealing it'. His rationale was, 'if they eat it and got ill, they could sue the shop'. I suggested donating it, he looked at me like I'd just taken a crap on his shiny heeled boots. The amount of waste just makes any sane person cry.

I worked at Olive Garden for a long time and one of the jobs I did was breadstick production, so I'd spend an entire shift just making breadsticks. It's been a couple years, but I'm pretty sure it takes 3 minutes to bake a fresh batch. It would be SO much more work to reheat old breadsticks. And there's no way a server is putting in more work than necessary. Plus breadsticks are as plentiful as water. I've seen servers put breadsticks in a basket then immediately throw them in the trash without them even leaving the kitchen. No one cares about wasting breadsticks, but even management. They're literally never ending.

never worked at olive garden, but I _do_ work at a place that serves breadsticks - we prep a bunch of trays (four breadsticks per tray) of them and a tray takes two minutes to cook. why would we save stale, hardened old ones when we could cook fresh ones in literally two minutes.

At worst, the adoption agency can get hit with a discrimination lawsuit from Shane if he builds a narrative that the adoption agency is discriminating him for his sexuality or something. These sorts of things are frustrating because you can’t just throw accusations without any legal, solid proof, like a therapists’ assessment or something. And I get why, there are tons of potential future parents that get hardwalled because a lot of these agencies ARE discriminatory, and these laws exist to protect their rights. It’s just that people like Shane love to exploit those laws and take advantage of loopholes.

But I’d have to fight off the rest of my family for taking more than my share. I can’t stand all the hate people throw on Olive Garden. Because it tastes great to me. I don’t care if it’s not authentic Italian cuisine because I’m not authentic Italian and my taste buds reject authentic Italian pizza for example with those big chunks of tomato in them. I worked at Olive Garden for years. They don't recycle breadsticks. I worked in the kitchen, including making lots of breadsticks. There is someone specifically employed to continuously tray and bake breadsticks. There is basically a constant flow. If we were busy we would put multiple trays back to back to back. The breadsticks that are ready, get buttered with a big brush and seasoned with a shaker of garlic salt. They then get brought up to the front of the kitchen and dumped into a large, warm drawer so servers can get them easily. They are actually only supposed to sit in the drawer for a short period of time before they get dumped, because they aren't fresh anymore, so we tried to meet the demand. Any uneaten customer food, goes immediately into the garbage. No way in hell would anyone in that kitchen ever allow the breadsticks to be recycled, especially server's. Appreciate your servers because they come back in that kitchen, super picky about what they serve their customers, making lots of demands in the kitchen to give you the utmost, best food and service that they can. Like I said, I worked there for many years, and I know exactly how that kitchen works, day in and day out. You would be impressed how much of the food at OG is homemade every morning...basically almost everything, including soups and sauces.

Also, I do not believe the makeup attempt because the box he returned to the store was stained and the one he got back that was "the same" was super clean. I think he bought two and swapped them, lying to the audience to get the same kind of notoriety he got with the Chuck E Cheese conspiracy. When the makeup one didn't go as viral, he attempted it again more true to the first viral attempt. He can not accept that while he was at his peak, everyone had rose colored glasses on and now that they've come off, nothing he does will ever have the same reach or impact. I remember a few years back a couple locations told servers they could only bring out enough breadsticks for an each person at the table to have one, plus an additional one. it always comes back to Shane not understanding supply chain and economies of scale. imagine thinking the pennies those bread sticks cost would be worth the legal liability. it's a huge corporation. a team probably spent years optimizing that bread stick product to make it as cheap as possible while still tasting okay because that's what you need to do if your goal is something you can offer all you can eat without it costing more than the revenue it brings in by attracting more customers. but sure, they need to recycle them.

As of 2008, you can give food away under certain conditions. The Bill Emerson Food Donation Act establishes Federal protection from civil and criminal liability for persons involved in the donation and distribution of food and grocery products to needy individuals when certain criteria are met. In order to receive protection under the Act, a person or gleaner must donate in good faith apparently wholesome food or apparently fit grocery products to a nonprofit organization for ultimate distribution to needy individuals. That second part is from the USDA guidelines.

I have a chronic headache disorder that I’ve never received an official diagnosis of what it is, despite numerous doctor’s appointments, they all just shrug and say “I don’t know what’s wrong with you, take some ibuprofen”. I have never had a headache free day in my life, and because it’s just a normal thing for me to experience on the daily I don’t tell people often about it, so when it does get randomly brought up around friends (or even a fair amount of my family) I always get that “sure Jan” look from people. Because I “don’t seem in pain all the time” yeah… because it happens every day and I’ve learned to ignore it to a certain extent, that doesn’t mean it’s not still happening. Having an invisible illness is so frustrating on so many levels
