I agree with most of what you say but the reason you are booked up with work despite other DPF fixers is trust, garages today have developed a way of hiding behind technology to con the customers into paying for work that is sometimes not needed and using their position to extort money even when they have failed to fix the problem. It’s loaded to much in the Garages favour. You are transparent, works every time. See you on the next one.
You Jimmy are one in a million, it's as simple as that, you have done all the hard work by doing all the jobs, videos and sharing information, that is why Total strangers trust you, if my great grandad was still here i would happily recommend him to you. Keep it going Jimmy everyone is after a slice of the pie as they say....
A very important point, many people now cannot afford repairs and jimmy is helping to keep the nation of diesel lovers moving.. without him and my diesel issues, i would be stuck snd well out of pocket. Thanks to jimmy and other youtubers educating us, my kids get their taxi service too and from football without the dreaded dpf, egr and EML coming on.. a huge thank you
Jimmy don't think you'll ever have to worry about work.. You're already the best known DPF man.. and your common sense approach to solving problems is reassurance for anyone in the car industry that wants a job done correctly giving peace of mind and value for money over the long term.. 👍
I am a garage controller for a utility company and love watching your posts you have helped me massively with my DPF faults. Saved me a massive cost by buying the launch dpf gun and manometer keep up the good work
Respect for educating the general public.. esp during difficult financial times..Sharing your experience, knowledge and skills is a noble and a decent thing to do..I applaud you..thank you jimmy. Too much greed out in this world and chasing a quick buck.. you are the specialist and a wise man and with your skills and Honesty will aleays be in demand. thank you very much for helping educate and repairing many peoples headaches…top man 🔝💪👍🏻👏👏👏
I think you do a wonderful job in explaining the dpf system’s and the diagnosis procedure you use, very helpful to people, and the key is learning the system like you have. I think you are a very helpful guy, as this system is a grey area for many mechanics, plus evap systems.Wishing you great success in your life, your obviously a very honest and generous man🙏🇸🇪👍
Boost leak on my Qashqai happens when the plastic intake pipe snaps, usually every two years. Stealerships used to charge me 250 to fix. Then I found out the part cost 30 and it’s a 5 minute job😡😡😡😡. So that’s why I educated myself how to fix my own car right up to changing shocks, springs, brake discs pads etc plus the routine stuff. Saved a fortune and I know the work is done right……….thanks to learning from the likes of Jimmy. Best of luck with your business Jimmy and thank you for educating us👍
Mate you are a top lad. I have the ability to fix my own vehicles, but your videos just tell me that I’d rather pay you. I love your honesty, I like that your knowledge might make others richer. But because you do that I’d rather make you richer because you’ve put the effort in
LOVE LOVE LOVE this chanel. I am an ex army mechanic with very out of date experience and you are my first port of call for everything. Your videos have saved me tons of money and reassured me that I have not been ripped off when I decided to let someone else do the job. Everyone will catch up with the knowledge eventually anyway and while they are, you are making money from these video's so still a win for you.
JIMMY... hand on heart, you're amazing! You've taken the sting out of all of those 'cowboys'', and girls'! DPFs' have been a misnomer, for many, and you've exposed the the 'mechanics' taken fortunes, from us car / van owners'! What you have done is so good, you deserve to be knighted! SO: Arise, Sir Jimmy!!!
As a tech myself, I try to share any awkward finds and fixes with the rest of the guys in the workshop. The big dealer garages with there bonus systems has a lot to do with lack of information sharing in my experience. I liked this video Jimmy as it was an honest story about how you've worked your way up(the hard way). 💪 Respect fella 👍👌
I'm extremely grateful for you sharing your knowledge, as an owner of a 2020 diesel i find it frustrating that this wizardry is kept behind closed doors and is so secretive. How this stuff got into legislation without the ability to service it is beyond me... I fel like the mechanic trade has very few trustworthy garages, start adding this magic into the mix and good luck anyone who ever has a problem! Thank you for the great information, honesty and transparency
RE: How this stuff got into legislation without the ability to service it is beyond me They don't care - doesn't matter then if it doesn't work well. They take order from above, and simply do not care about the people. It is almost as if is a religion we a dealing with. But they simply do not really care.
The video of the ambient outside temperature on the wing mirror would be the last place someone would be looking for a fault ! Very knowledgeable guy who I’ve had the pleasure to meet !
I live in lincolnshire. But the garages around here only want to do forced regens . But not cure the route problem causing it to block up .i been watching your vids for a long time now and i think u are a very skilled man in the dpf field , u have cluded me up a great deal ,, in theary, so if i get a problem with my 16 plate 2 ltre diesel kuga it would be cheaper for me to ship it down to u to fix than pay these people around me not to play with it. ,,,, great work keep it up
Mate you have saved so many people so much time and money by sharing your expertise and knowledge i would bet my last pound coin even the so called experts watch your videos for guidance as for us less experienced need a daily fix keep them coming😉
Jimmy greetings from warm & sunny Tenterfield Australia. I really appreciate your videos. Best thing I've learned is that a blocked DPF is the end result of other issues. I hope that you realise that you give subscribers a lift with every video with your attitude as well as your info. Definitely the best part of the internet in these uncertain times. Well done.
I am a mechanic, and until 2010 worked in main dealers, and small independent garages, it has only been the last few years that I have come across these dpf issues. It is entirely due to your videos that I have started to dabble with them, I am no expert, and do not intend to become one either, I will leave these problems to someone else to deal with where possible. I have dealt with a few which have been difficult to find problems, which are not very often directly part of the dpf system, but have an impact. Ambient temp, maf, map, pressure sensors etc, only once coming across a fully blocked filter, that had been caused by a turbo failure, which had been dumping oil directly into the filter, my opinion is the system is very flawed, and has far to many variables which can cause problems. You are in no danger of loosing work to me, that's a fact. I enjoy watching your videos, and learning from your experiences, and this can only help with my knowledge base, but until we come up with a better solution to the pollution problems, and not going down the battery route, we will always have a need for someone to repair these things. I don't believe battery driven cars are the future, for many reasons, the biggest being poor range, and short life span of the battery packs, the second being the load needed to charge these things, if we all had battery driven vehicles there would be a massive shortage in electricity, and this means more power plants, more nuclear, more coal fired, we need to invest in something else, hydrogen is an option, but safety is a problem. So keep up the good work, and keep making the videos, if I was local to you, you would have all my dpf work that's for sure.
The cliche goes that if you spend 10,000 hours on something, you'll become an expert in it. Jimmy's been fixing DPF issues for so long now, he's an expert.
Wise words as always, I've learnt so much from your videos . I'm no longer in the trade but maintain my own vehicles and now DPF'problems are not such a mystery to me . Thanks once again for sharing your hard earn't knowledge ,much appreciated.
Top man Jimmy ! Although I've never seen you do it, you gave me the confidence to tackle the egr cooler on my V40, main stealer was over £800 for a replacement unit, when all it needed was a strip down and clean and £14 for a new gasket ! I've passed your info on to a few folks on a motorhoming forum I'm on, there's a few Peugeot/Citroën owners on there with dpf problems. The other thing that crops up is problems with Fiat Comformatic gear boxes, even Fiat main dealers have little idea how to fix/service them, could be another feather to your bow ?
I bought the same manometer as you Jimmy last week off Amazon , 35 quid , your information is invaluable to many people, us in the trade and retail customers, i did a clean on an Audi A4 1.6 Tdi, reset Dpf as if i had now replaced it , new oil and filter checked pressures after, took for mot, no dirty smoke , emissions at zero , happy customer , thanks for sharing the information 👍👍👍👐😂
I agree with you, no one wants to share knowledge. Thank you for this, you helped me a lot, I live in Ireland, and I bought the same tools as you have to repair my 2015 2.2 Ford Transit. And if I can, I will help others 🙏🏻
really good info video jimmy glad to see your hard learning work paid off as you are the number one guy probably in the country where dpf are concerned well done keep them comming
Good morning jimmy , well done to you for being straight and open. Your right in describing that most garages advertise that they are experts in loads off areas but truth is they are masters off none . Again what u say about 1 taking on a certain area ( eg MOT repair) and next AC repairs and so on is so true and common sense , like jimmy, they would stop competing for all the customers and deal with their customers. Coming from the deep sea industry, we have the do the job right first time as you sometimes don’t get another chance if you mess up attitude, jimmy does the job right first time and you get more customers through good recommendations and so on . Well done
Thanks for your videos, you are correct that it is bett for garages to specialise in certain areas rather then trying to cover a whole range of fields. Keep the videos coming mate.
I've been working on cars for 35yrs and things and attitudes have change ,the car industry needs more guys like you jimmy well done fella, i can only hope as cars become more technical that there are more guys like you to bring us thru the new learning curves, you a star fella thank you so so much for the videos and simply being you..
I love watching your videos Jimmy, you are so meticulous in your methods and fault finding, and with the way you explain what the faults are and how to diagnose and sort it out. I have learnt so much watching your videos, the way you explain it has given us all confidence to tackle it ourselves. You spoke of other companies that offer dpf solutions, but they have nothing compared to you, that's why people come from all over to get you to do the work. On one of your old clips you said about downsizing the company, I can't believe you don't have people calling, to work for you. I also noticed the sneaky launch logo on your top, hope finally they are sponsoring you 🤞All the best Jimmy, and top job as always.👍😎
Your videos are great, that is what makes your channel stand out! you show and tell us exactly what is going on. There is so much secrecy around which tools "mechanics" use, diagnosis techniques or where they even get there information from, all data, auto data, Haynes pro etc. Car manufactures don't help the situation by locking away manuals and diagram behind paywalls, Peugeot service box for example, but then companies like all data and Haynes pro are able to get this info from manufactures via some agreement they have. I'm all for open and free documentation (which manufactures should really be providing) to allow people to fix or diagnose there vehicles. The whole scan tool subscription thing is another bug bear of mine, surely scan tool manufactures are in contact with vehicle manufactures in order to develop software that successfully talks to their vehicle? all this stuff should really be open source and publicly available in my opinion so we can maintain our vehicle or build our own tools. Another great video!
Hey Jimmy, there is a lot of sense in what you are saying. There is more than enough work for all of us. Sharing the information should just make all of our jobs just a little easier. Well done for recording & sharing every video you do 💪💪💪
Thanks Jimmy excellent your da best,, thanks for sharing I can see you put a lot of hard work and hours in ,,u have an excellent work plan keep it up,,,👌
I took the time to watch your video's and the knowledge I have gained is most appreciated, there is a LOT of ignorance around DPFs people charging lots to not fix can't thankyou enough
Watching your videos inspired me to buy a windows tablet and some software for my car and I was able to fix my own dpf issue and a couple of other issues that a basic OBD scanner cannot read so thank you for your videos, much appreciated 👍
I used to keep getting a clogged dpf, I eventually found out what was causing it. 'Where the intercooler pipe bolts onto the throttle body, 'Where it joins' I took a look down the pipe and found that the little orange gasket was perished. Since I changed the gasket haven't had a problem. Most cases i found the culprit was the person only doing very short trips and not allowing the car/van to warm up enough which causes soot build up.
Well you have certainly helped me Jimmy when I go through it with my custom I know exactly what to do and it's all thanks to You young man.I think the thing is to take notice of people that have put the time in to be able to rectify theses problems/ stay away from main dealers only for parts/ and if you can have a go yourself. All of the people that have bought euro 6 vans and the like They are all guinea pigs, because I am sure that the manufacturers never saw all theses problems that are arising coming. For god sake you should not be having problems vehicles with les the 30.000 miles on the clock. You have helped many people and for that you deserve a big "THANK YOU" 😇👌
Love this video style 🥰 too. Awesome 👌 super 🆒️ . I think you should do the morning video for repairs and evening one general chat different topics or stories... I enjoyed this one and you're good story teller too 💯👌👍💪😍🏅🏆✌❤☘
greatly appreciate what you share. guided me in the right direction for the tools to add to my arsenal. purchased the launch PAD V, and Nanometer, but still can't get the launch UK DPF cleaner or equivalent in the USA. there's a lot of poorly thought out information disinformation or no information at all on diesel systems and DPF's out there. you shine light on the right direction.
Well done fella sharing your knowledge, but as you know there are a lot of cowboys in the motor trade even in some of the well established companies, and repairs to motors can be very costly as some of your customers have found out before they came to you. The biggest problem is finding a mechanic you can trust, so I don't think you will ever be without work, word of mouth goes a long way in getting a reputable reputation
I know we have chatted about this when we met at a mechanics show but even now being this busyCan't help wondering why if your that busy you can't get off the roads and get a unit of your own. Winter is coming. Especially as you have this area sorted.
There are very, very few actual mechanics any more. They are parts fitters. The computer tells them the code, they replace the recommended sensor. The problem comes when the sensor is not the problem but rather the component or process it monitors. Like boost leaks or turbos that are partially seized and if a job comes back at 8 plus hours from their autodata system they either jack the price through the roof or decline the job because a two ramp garage can make more doing smaller jobs than block a ramp for a full 8 hours. One thing I would love to know is why the PSA 1.4 tdi engine as fitted to the Fiesta and others seems to fail at about 100,000 miles and no one seems to be able to fix them.
most of this goes back to dealers none understand dpf systems how they work what faults cause what and what's the reason for not regenerate .,how to clean dpf out without removing ,and then stoping it blocking again
In our garage we do not advertise dpf repairs . But they come in the door to beat the band . I actually think iv become and exhaust mechanic . Your videos are a god send and can cut the repair time down by half as sometime we are un certain and guess as were your video would confirm and make us more content. Jummy thank you very much your a top man . An area iv very little knowledge is nox sensor and i think main dealers are to as we have had cars we couldnt fix send them to main dealers and they didnt fix them either throwing nox sensors on them . Is there any specific tests for nox and if theres readings are off thank you
You have the need to fix, to fix is the total understanding of how it works which gives you the ability to fix 100 % everytime , im sure your talents are far beyond dpfs . ......
My car ran very unhappy when external temperature sensor was reporting high when outside was cold (it previous owner had been in a number of "bumps" and someone had wrapped the external temperature sensor around the coolant pipe so was confusing the engine ecu and the climate control) so I could imagine on a car that has a DPF it would cause problems (main one is never doing an automatic regen if it doesn't know what the external temperature is)
Jimmy, you've become the "DPF guru" in my eyes. You get sh*t done and that's what metters. That's why people come to you from far and wide. My partner's son has a 2013 BMW F30 318d (the 2.0 N47 engine) with about 125K on the clock with a blocked DPF (error code 245700 according to my scantool). I did get some live data and the soot content was just over 40g and the pressure differential was higher than it should be at idle. Have you ever done any DPF work on the N47 engine? I did look through your content but I couldn't find any BMW diesel content.
Jimmy can you help out a fellow irishman. If I was in UK I would travel to you. I have a 2008 octavia rs which does a DPF regen now nearly every day. I have always allowed it to complete the cycle wherever possible. Multiple mechanics have tested back pressure on turbo, DPF differential pressure, reset ash values, even put a new differential pressure sensor in. All to no avail. Car has 250k miles. Everyone keeps telling me the system is working as it should. Car runs absolutely 100%, very well minded as it is my pride and joy other than dirty regens every single day, and blows white smoke during a cycle. I cannot afford dpf replacement and really really don't want to gut/remove it but I am almost at the point of I have no other choice. I apologise for the long message I was just really hoping for your insight
Honestly these ads are flippin ridiculous! I’m 10 seconds into a video and I get an ad! Ain’t no way I’m paying for premium though. As well as Netflix, as well as prime, as well as fkin bbc tv license
Been educated.. I'm no mechanic and the price of these dpf guns are expensive for a diyer. I was just wondering do you think I could use a handheld pump sprayer to insert the cleaning fluid into the dpf?? Or will the pressure not be strong enough 🤔
