Loved your chat, Shaun. Your life and post-trauma resilience are amazing. I am so glad you survived drug use, dealing, and prison. Your story will save others from the fate you survived. Keep telling your truth! Laura

The most dangerous part of being human, no matter what country you’re in, is living with unresolved trauma. This is the most important thing I learned from this interview.

I started listening to this at bedtime and thought I'd be 20 mins. I had to listen until the end. The tiredness of staying up late is well worth it. Looking forward to reading the books now.

Shaun you have legions of angels 😇 watching over you. Richard, you too. What struck me the most was how one incident of trauma that lasts seconds at age 15, and which causes social anxiety, can impact the entire trajectory of one’s life.

Amazing that Shaun survived Hell and has come back to tell us all about it. My best friend is a real believer in meditation and practises every day. It has changed her life. But totally amazed that Shaun could learn to do that in a cockroach infested hell hole - impressed!

I never get bored of this story. Loved the Hard Time / Party Time books. Even though it all sounds completely crazy it still kind of feels like it could happen to anyone if they get too carried away with trying to 'play drug dealer'. He was very lucky to get out of it all alive. RIP Wildman.

This is my third playing of your video! Greetings from the Gulf of Mexico Florida. I am enamored by this video for two reasons. Richard, your gift is your experience and your teaching with bringing forth others such as Shaun to first Shock, and then when it registers, because Richard your interviewing skills are best besides your merging your own experiences with your reactions to Shaun's life experience, the both of you are symbiotic, i'm beyond fascinated with survival and your giving to the mass, me included, to realize humanity, but most of all, to learn from experience so we can make better choices. If not for your truth, I'd be walking around in a padded room blue pilling it! Thank you both. Set the standard for excellence, carry on.

Loving this but has my heart racing. My step son was getting into this lifestyle and we couldn't get through to him how bad a life this can be. Was like he seen life as a computer game where he was invincible. He died in 2021 age 21 of an accidental diazepam overdose. Obviously I'm not pleased we've lost him but so relieved his died peacefully and not in some radge scenario in fear and pain. Another world!

Amazing video. Hard to listen to because of the disturbing topics but because of the reality, it is very informative and educational. Everyone needs to be aware of this reality and not remain ignorant to it. However, be aware it can be disturbing to listen to.

I think the really profound part(s) for me was when Shaun Attwood found that he could get drug-like stress-relief from yoga & meditation. And at the end he talks about how recreational drugs lead to harder drugs and eventually to death. I don't know how to express myself but I'm going to make notes about these two parts (rewind the podcast and write word for word what was said), really good stuff. Edit: here's what I transcribed from Shaun's words: "Drugs start fun at first but you constantly chasing those early highs. The pleasure is going down slowly and the side-effects is rising. So you move on to harder drugs and you mix your drugs up and you when you have done enough damage. There's a reason there's no alt drug (I don't know what alt drugs are) users out there, they're either dead or in prison. And most of my male friends have gone that way. They're dead. "As I lay down in corpse pose, I feel all the stress, tension just melting out my shoulders and my body and just felt warm and fuzzy like I was on ee and I thought: 'I used to pay to be like this and you can do it naturally.' "I thought my life was over and I was on the verge of killing myself." "There was a chapter in 'Yoga Made Easy' about meditation. I thought I need to start trying this meditation." "... I just closed my eyes. They said count your breathing. And I was counting my breathing, I kept breathing. And then trying to get the thoughts to stop and the thoughts wouldn't stop. I kept thinking 'this is ridiculous. You can't get your thoughts to stop. That's not even possible.' So in the end, because I got this manic energy that I throw into things, I started just doing it [meditation] just longer and longer every night. And the thoughts began to stop for a little bit. And then the thoughts started to completely stop. And then visuals just started to come in. And I would just go. I would be just gone, somewhere else. I didn't know how long I had sat there for. And I would eventually come out of it. And the meditation got my stress levels so down I was able to stop the medication for not being able to sleep .." So to try to poorly summarise what I saw in these words. Unnatural drugs - be they recreational or medicinal - lead towards a bad path. But Shaun gives an example of how there is an alternate path towards health and feeling good. For Shaun it was yoga and meditation. Then there's the anti-age scientist Bryan Johnson. He says that his disciplined life may sound like it is horribly painful because of all the lack of freedom that is connected to it (you don't allow yourself to do stupid decisions which will be defined as self-harm). And Bryan Johnson says that no - it is not an awful existence for him - Bryan Johnson says he is feeling better than he ever has because of this lifestyle of his (this might be a marketing PR-speech, so take it with a grain of salt, but Bryan's words sound true to my ear).

Prayer is a better option than meditation. Meditation can invite in the wrong spirits. I want to see these two men get filled with the holy ghost and feel God's supernatural peace. Praying for you Richard and Shaun for complete and divine restoration and healing. I am amazed by all you have overcome and the amazing way you have both responded to so much trauma. Kudos to you both.
