A video about sleep, good. I sometimes don't go home until after midnight because if she's awake in the evening, I'm going to be destroyed when she sees me. I only slept 4 hours last night. She yells at me after 2am sometimes and I have to keep begging her to stop and that it's bad for health and I work in the morning. She doesn't even care.

Yes!!! 💯 Figured this out when I was a teenager. I can sleep 9+ hours a night plus nap. I even dream during naps - I always knew the dreams were healing even when they were not nice. I sleep more when recovering from stress - it's my first line of defence. After years of trauma, I am certain that this ability to sleep properly is what saved me. It's a blessing 👍👍

@@lilinectar29 yes me too! But not anymore because I absolutely know 100% that without a lot of sleep (esp in winter) things go very wrong for me mentally and physically. If we didn't need it, we wouldn't stay asleep so long. It's not laziness.

Here's what I did to sleep.. and it helped. 1. Create a COMPLETELY dark and quite room. 2. Lay in bed staring into the darkness. No difference whatsoever between having eyes closed and having them open. 3. You relax because you don't have to force your eyes closed in order to sleep. 4. You forget about everything and fall asleep without noticing it. Takes guts to try but totally worth it. The key is total darkness and quite, so that you have absolutely nothing to focus on. Good luck!

After years of traumatic experiences at the hands of a so, l broke away and got out. I find that over the course of the last 1.5 years my sleep has been constantly improving. I was actually getting a little bit worried, as l can sleep 10+hrs and then nap midday! The best part is waking up in the morning and being SO relaxed knowing that l wasn't prepping for the shit show.

Preparing for sleep when you first rise from a good nights rest is absolutely correct. I read a good book called "Why we sleep" that goes into great detail regarding the science of sleep. I sack out early between 7 and 9 PM. I unwind slowly in a quiet space and perfect bed and room temperature ( I turn off the heat and let it fall ) Under the down I sleep well in the vicinity of 8 to 10 hours. I have found that if I suffer sleep deprivation from being on the road and my sleep schedule is off I get depressed. Good sleep is a must for remaining in a much better frame of mind. Good and great sleep in the way to a much better day.

@@PetKatFizz I've been wanting to prioritize sleep for a long time but sometimes my wife makes it her objective to make sure my sleep is all screwed up. If I say I need sleep or it's important for health, she'll probably tell me it's because I'm so lazy and I want to lay back or she'll start mocking me. She really doesn't care until she cycles back to being in a happy mood again which takes usually a few weeks.

Interesting info: a few years ago I developed reverse sleep paralysis A.k.a. “cataplexy”, which my neurologist told me could be related to other (undiagnosed) neurological symptoms I was experiencing. The reality of the situation was that it was medically induced by a medication (gabapentin/Neurontin) I had been prescribed for nerve pain. So for anyone who doesn’t know, sleep paralysis is when your body turns off your motor function, so you don’t act out your dreams (as is mentioned here), but as you are coming out of sleep your body continues the body paralysis, but your consciousness is awakened (hence why you are awake, but can’t move). Cataplexy a.k.a. reverse sleep paralysis is when during the day & “waking” hours, you are living your life and all of a sudden your brain turns off your motor function (out of nowhere), because it thinks it needs to protect you from dreaming. Your consciousness remains aware that you are not sleeping, but you will no longer have control of your body. It’s scary AF! This also caused a sort of “mental paralysis” for me, & for the first time I became afraid to do normal every day things, not knowing when I would have an attack or lose control of my body. Luckily for me I was able to correlate the attacks I was having due to the medication I was taking (which isn’t always possible), and although I still have nerve pain, I would rather not have cataplexy on top of it, so I got off the gabapentin. I was lucky I could stop it… I have noticed a major increase in medications being prescribed, like gabapentin, and others that treat “nerve pain” in recent years, and in my experience it seems to be due to major increase in diagnoses of fibromyalgia, depression combined with nerve pain, & neurological diseases like multiple sclerosis, etc… I am choosing to share this because it might help someone out there like me, who would’ve been grateful to hear the medication could’ve been causing my problem, because my doctor didn’t tell me that, despite the fact that he prescribed the gabapentin, and diagnosed me with cataplexy! People need to be aware that if you start experiencing sleep paralysis or cataplexy it could be related to your medication, and you would need to discuss with your doctor what to do. In my humble opinion we all need to be more aware that any new “medication” we introduced to our complex bodily systems could cause countless numbers of problems. This also includes vaccines! For me personally with my medical history, I do NOT produce the antibodies after being vaccinated like most people do, yet I would be taking all of the neurological and other bodily systems risk, yet I am expected to get in line for the jab like everyone else! We seriously need to have medical exemptions, because this idea that “one size fits all” is not based in “science”!!! After this experience I am much more leery to take prescription medication than ever, for good reason! I literally could’ve died, or killed someone else, God for bid I had been behind the wheel of a car! Thank god that was not my fate! 🙌🏻💞🙏🏻 Your bodily autonomy is everything, and I suggest you don’t give it up for anything!!! I’m making an edit because I want to make it clear that I believe in exemptions for any and all reasons! That includes things like I just don’t want to, to my religious or spiritual beliefs won’t allow me to participate, & the right to freedom of bodily autonomy My Body = My Choice…

BTW I never eat breakfast until 10:00 a.m. And no coffee after noon. Nor food after 5:00 p.m. Two meals a day is plenty for me. And I sleep when it's dark. Magnesium cream on the inner wrist is brilliant for relaxation, sleep, de-stressing, nerves and focus. It absorbs best on the inner wrist better than tablets. (Have read the studies, they’re available.) Combined with Vitamin D oral stray, so very good. People who are stressed, drink alcohol or caffeine, or eat sweet food need more.

What you were discussing makes perfect sense. Now I'm eating low-glycemic index food (that's recommended by my endocrynologist) and try to wake up early (1 month of diet and 3rd. day of waking up so far and going for a long walk in the morning). My body loves this way of eating. It's amazing how much it helps to limit my panic attacks and weird bodily sensations. I'm going to follow all the advices given in this interview!!! This was really interesting. Laughed hard though when you talked about the ideal temp for sleep being 18 degrees, that's what my thermostat is set to for morning and evening, any higher and our bill would be astronomical! I must be a masochist though, I like my bedroom on the chilly side, I like very cold sheets but my husband has to have several hot water bottles. I'm lying there through gritted teeth hissing "get them away from me!" I like the duvet all tucked up around my neck and for my face to be out in the cold. I hate the summer when our bedroom resembles a bread oven.

Sleep Hack I found recently (counter intuitive) - take Vitamin D spray 3-10 sprays of 1000 IU 3 hours pre-sleep. It’ll help produce melatonin. Loads of studies on how much this helps the current “thing” going around as a bonus (lots). Both melatonin and Vitamin D. Also helps chilled out mood, calm. Nice.

Chinese Medicine aligns organs with 2 hour increments and when we wake during the night they see it as a particular organ not functioning properly, Monks of all denominations see 3AM as 'God's hour" and will purpsely wake to meditate for one to two hours, followed by a meal to begin their work day. By the way, Chinese medical practitioners use the blood pulse to identitfy what organs are doing what, and the severity of pain being experienced. What does Western medicine know about blood pulse in comparison... you know the anser.

True words. Dream interpretation is good for emotional health too, we all speak the same dream language cross culturally so besides some cultural and individual differences dreams are a universal language! That's why lucid dreaming is such a good practise as you strengthen the link between the conscious and unconscious minds, the more attention you pay to dreams the clearer they get as long as you're physically healthy..

My sleep study revealed that I get 6 hours of rem sleep in an eight hour span. I've been a semi-lucid dreamer since I was young. My dream time is like a whole other life. Anyone else?

My sleep problems started when I became very self-conscious about my snoring which people I slept beside kept waking me up for. I struggle with falling asleep now because my nose snorts really loudly before I even drift off.

Raised with dinner at 6. Then married and cooked for someone that ate at 7:00-7:30. I did it but I got done with that tooooo. I’m back to feeding me when I want to eat. Minus the that other part :)
