@@SilkKimono Not Shu, though. Like Ruyi and Wan, she just wholeheartedly loved the emperor. She was very disapproving of any scheming and even outspoken about it. Hence why her and Ruyi got along so well. Her ending was terrible. And Hailan calculated the emperor but did not betray him; whenever she went behind his back it was to save Ruyi. Concubine Ke (if I remember her name right) was an honest character also. She was never involved in any scheme.

I disagree. The Emperor wasn’t the only one who disappointed people and had ill intentions, so did the consorts. And look at the reason they all did such things. In some cases it was for justice. In others it was revenge. From the emperor to the lowest servant they all committed misdeeds.
@MistakenDeVil55

@@SilkKimono i agree. I think i meant the majority of the woman were made to be calculating. None were born (granted neither was the emporor lol) they were all conditioned to do anything to bring pride to their family name and to give birth to a son was it. And so they had to do anything for that 'success' honestly all those woman where just victims of a mans greed and lust. & not just from the emperor but clans too. Riyu was right. Having no clan support meant she had the liberty of choice. While others needed to succeed for their clan. Some for their own selfish desires. Granted their deeds are still their own and they are wrong for it all. Lol idk i just pity all the woman for in many ways to them there wasnt any other way for them. Some just went to extreme and lost their morals along the way for they had to find a way to justice their actions
@SilkKimono
@SilkKimono 3 года назад
@@MistakenDeVil55 I feel the same about the emperor. Circumstances made him, just like the concubines, the way he was. I just can’t point at one person and say they are completely responsible for everything that went down. It wasn’t the emperor’s issues that caused the former empress to harm Ruyi and the others, it also didn’t cause Jia to attack the harem for her lover or Ling for all she did, as well as some others attendants. Matter of fact I would say they took advantage of his shortcomings. Ruyi may not have had a clan but she had family and friends. To keep said family and friends protected she also used the emperor when she needed. So did the others. I don’t get the feeling that they were being forced to succeed for their clan but did what they did as members of their clan like you said for good or bad based on their own desires. Look at Shu who chose to go against the dowager to fellow the emperor though she was burned in the end. I agree they all are to be pitied but they had other choices. This drama, to me, is like a study of human relationships and the tragedy or greatness that can come from them.

How can Ruyi have a heart of stone if she was the one that suggested they stopped taking the medicine? Surely they knew what a risk that was to go against the Emperor and say not to do it?
@RavenSutcliffe
@RavenSutcliffe Год назад
I was thinking precisely that Ruyi is so tender-hearted, she gives Ling the same advice she gave Shu because even though she doesn't like her, she understands the desire for a child and cannot bear to see someone else being sterile against their will. How Ling came to such ridiculous conclusion is beyond me.
@moonchild712
@moonchild712 11 месяцев назад
@@RavenSutcliffemy thinking was the same. Unfortunately, if you look at Jia fei and Ling fei situations, they walked the same paths, even though Jia abused Ling. Both were delusional in thinking Ruyi was always scheming against them, even though they were the ones doing the fuck shit, both had their children taken away because of said fuck shit multiple times and demoted and promoted multiple times behind their shenanigans. The only difference is their deaths: Jia died of a broken heart but at least somewhat peaceful and Ling died in agony with the arsenic after being poisoned slowly (and went mad) with the wild mushrooms
@RavenSutcliffe
@RavenSutcliffe 11 месяцев назад
@@moonchild712 I agree, but I would add also that Ling Fei was delusional pretty much from the start, while Jia Guifei was very calm and level headed at first, and while she saw Ruyi as a threat because the Emperor loved her and she was nearly the main wife, she didn't think she was scheming, even if she convinced Empress Xiaoxian and Hui Guifei that she was. She didn't start losing her mind until some time after Empress Xiaoxian's death. Then she went fully mad. Also, for her entire life, Jia Guifei loved at least one person sincerely and truly. Everything she did was for that Prince of hers. And she died regretting what she had done and was able to smile peacefully after reminding herself "you must never live a life like this again". She also had a deep kinship with Zhenshu, her dowry maid that was banished (which is when she started losing it). Meanwhile Ling Fei appears pitiful at first between her mother and the bullying, she always thought Ruyi was after her. And she died without remorse. She also did not love one single person sincerely: not her family, not Ling Yunche though she was obsessed with him, not her maids. And they weren't just lifelong servants like Zhenshu, they were her former best friends from when she herself was a maid. Wangchan served her loyally and died at her hand. Lancui and Chunchan, first her best friends and then her maids, endlessly loyal to her? Only Chunchan was saved in the nick of time. She killed so many children, let her mother and brother die, used Jingzhong and killed him too. And she never repented. If I had to pick I'd say Ling Fei is much more of a psychopath. She cared for absolutely nothing and no one.
@moonchild712
@moonchild712 11 месяцев назад
@@RavenSutcliffe I agree, except it was Lancui who died at her hands, while Wangchan and Chunchan that served her til the end. Like I know she said that she did what she did because she had no choice but as Ruyi once told her, she didn't need to take the path that she did. I'm just that during the Emperor's time, she was made Empress. I think I would have thrown my whole t.v out the window if that happened
@RavenSutcliffe
@RavenSutcliffe 11 месяцев назад
@@moonchild712 I don't remember about Wangchan, but Ling Fei tried to kill Chunchan with poisoned lip paint because she knew too much. It was only because Yu Guifei was watching her and told Jiang Yubin to keep an eye on her too that she could be saved. In repayment she helped Yu Guifei and Empress Dowager uncover the truth about Ling. If I remember correctly, Wangchan died shortly after Lancui. It was Ling's doing because he had killed Jingzhong and she feared he may confess. Truly she had no attachment to anyone.
