One, when I was younger I went to dunking donuts. My mom was taking me and I was SUPER excited. We waited in the drive through line and when we got up we ordered our donuts of course! We got a dozen of donuts. My mom pulled out her wallet to find no cash, or credit card. She was super worried and so was she. The worker said, “ It’s ok bring them with you and pay when you come back.” We rushed home with our donuts and got her card. We payed up, and to this day I still think about how much that worker trusted us and his kindness. If you’re out there, sir, thank you so much you showed a five year old that trust is real.
Last week a local pizza place offered to give me the two slices I'd ordered, after realizing I was missing my wallet. I declined, but only because I really wanted to find my wallet. Luckily, it was sitting on the couch in the vacant student lounge at my college (I was laying on the couch before I went to get pizza).
That's actually sweet when you mentioned she tipped you back and thanked you for the penny. See, people like that, I would def understand and not make a big deal out of things like 1 penny. You're an upstanding person ma dude. The lady is too. And the guy pretending to reach in the jar as well cuz I'm sure he just needed to make you laugh lol. All in all, good story ma dude.
She violated all your rights by touching that tip jar. Taking a penny from the tip jar is wild. Also the currency that you should use for your own country is just pennies. That would be funny 😂
She apparently was thinking that the tip jar was a "pay-it-forward" like what you see at some gas stations. They usually have a note taped to it that says something along the lines of "Have a penny, leave a penny. Need a penny, take a penny." It probably never occurred to her that OP's boss sucks and refuses to pay a decent wage.
@@anonymall are you a fecking IDIOT? I said maybe the CUSTOMER was thinking that it was a pay it forward jar, not the EMPLOYEE! Or are you just an a55h073 who likes to start shiitake with folks? And how the feck do you figure I am "misinformed" when I live in an area where the pay it forward jar is a common sight? Just because the Subway belongs to his parents it doesn't mean that the Subway company will allow them to pay him $25 an hour. FOH with that "misinformation" shtako when I was simply offering my idea as to why the CUSTOMER may have thought what I said
In all fairness plenty of places have those 'spare change' jars for people who are a few nickels short.

That moment when you're literally short by a penny and life suddenly feels like an over-dramatic reality show. Who knew spare change could cause such suspense! 🤣
My first job was at a movie rental store and when people rented two movies the total was $8.01 and if the customer just gave me a $10 or $20 we had a “take a penny, leave a penny” tray that I’d grab one for them, but if the customer was rude I’d always just give them $.99 cents back with their change haha
Sometimes when we are under a lot of pressure or in a scary situation we do absolutely unacceptable things in a hurry and we don't even realize the nonsense we have committed. I think that poor woman was in similar circumstances and couldn't even think about anything before grabbing that coin and running away. I'm sure when she got home later her first thought was, "Holy crap, that was terrible of me."
That simultaneously looks like the most delicious and the most disgusting mac and cheese ive ever seen in my life and my brain is malfunctioning over it
That was weird but I genuinely think she did it unthinkingly. I could see myself doing that and realising what I’d done late on. Then again, tipping culture isn’t as big in Australia but plenty of places still have tip jars though.
i love how not only was she exactly one penny short but she was in such a rush and probably on the verge of a panic attack that she grabbed exactly a penny from the tip jar to pay for her order
The worker can be in big trouble and fired if too much money goes missing from the register. The cashier is responsible for what ends up in the drawer. I'm sure the worker would rather lose a penny from the tip jar, than loose their job because of allowing customers to steal from the company. And she paid it back, with interest, the very next day. So it wasn't even theft, she just borrowed it without asking, and then returned it. Overall, i feel like the right thing happened in the entire situation for everyone, and i wouldn't change anything about this. It was a great experience for all involved!
I can somewhat relate to the fact you do some things you wouldnt normally do when you are stressed but its good she came back to rectify with a larger tip. Also i haven't watched Milad in a while and i just wanted to know what the most popular video was and it is pretty ironic that its literally called "what happens when you are $0.01 short"
I worked at dunkin. It would happen too often where people would reach in the tip jar. It’s not about 25 cents it’s about etiquette. I definitely thought about kicking people out, it’s very disrespectful.
As long as you're not hurting anyone I don't think it matters what you're doing so one time when I was a cashier someone came up to the register and they wanted to pay and change and they felt like a bad person for having to count out the change but the whole time I was just enjoying it because that's who I am. The only reason I felt bad at all was because one of the other cashiers was really shy and scared and I wasn't making her smile because I was ringing people out.
Until a few years back here in Germany, you would have small compartements at the checkout of a lot of stores where you could find change ranging usually from 1 to 20 cent pieces which people would leave there for the next person. Your story sounded like thats maybe what she thought it was haha.
I once had a co-worker that gave a customer a hard time over a couple cents, and I lectured them for it. There is no reason for that kind of attitude. It's not even profitable for the company, because your more likely to offend a customer and prevent their next purchase, being stingy. Always let people get away with a few cents, or at the very least add a single 10-15% discount to a single item to drop the total price by a few cents, if your POS allows it.
I have had to patiently explain to a few cashiers I'd rather let them keep the 0.01€ or 0.02€ than wait for them to dig it out of the till or, lord help me, get a roll of 0.01€ coins from their coworker because they ran out. If I can I give exact change, which I have prepared while waiting in line. Same about just throwing a few cents so that the person in front of me doean't need to dig though their pockets or purse. My time is worth more. The time of the people standing in line behind me is worth more, it feels disrespectful to waste it Big fan of the nordic countries that just round evertyhing to the nearest 0.05 multiple.
What about what workers do the other way around? We had an Orange Julius or whatever it was called, on campus. Back then they sold a small juice for 4 dollars. I would give them a 5, and without asking the employee would grab the one dollar change and put it in their tip jar!
why is everyone complaining about her "violating his rights 🤓" it's literally just ONE penny, she thanked and tipped him a couple of dollars afterwards, I'm pretty sure she just made a wierd joke, or.. she's just wierd.. either way she's still a keeper
When I worked at a Dunkin at an Airport I had a customer do the exact same thing to me and honestly I was just more offended than anything. In my case it was like ten cents so I didnt really care about the amount I was just like "the audacity."
That's like one of the lowest grade violations that could actually register, but it's still a dick move. Kind of like when people just pocket the change in the take a penny cup instead of using it for a transaction.
Ok seriously what are you doing with the mac n cheese? Like, why is nobody talking about the fact you put mac n cheese into a couple of FLOOR TILES and then didn't show where you took them. Either I am having a stroke, or just don't know what happens beyond the scenes of that restaurant lmao
Once me and my siblings were getting snow cones and when we got up to the stand to pay someone payed it for us even though we had the money and I just think so nice that person was
as a former united states navy chicken nugget sandwitch i can confirm that i have evaded taxes within the past 180 years and i now owe the IRS 120 billion dollars but if rich people dont pay taxes then i basically dont need to this is due to my bank having 5 bucks and thats rich to me so therefore i dont need to pay taxes ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
borrowed a Penny and got back a few dollars the next day? shoot, thats a better return than most stock markets. like 200x your return investment in like a day. hard to beat that. 🧐
Surprises me why US still uses pennies and not just round to the nearest whole like Canada and practically everywhere else. It even costs more money to make the penny. Seriously the penny needs to go
