Both Amy and Bernadette also seem to have had terrible moms who made their lives hell growing up. Howard's mom was also a piece of work. And Sheldon's mom spoiled him way too much. Seems like only ones who had good moms are Penny and Raj. And even Penny's mom is a bit judgemental.

While you're right that it is (basically) the last point on a scale, or if we're using correct terminology "an extreme", and it is only one point, that doesn't mean there can be only one worst. E.G. Let's look at word "heavy". Let's say you have four people: Carl (75 kg), Peter (70 kg), Andy (85 kg) and Chris (85 kg). Then Chris and Andy are the heaviest. Sure, only one point is the extreme (85 kg), but two people out of these four are the heaviest. Same applies to somebody being the worst. Two people CAN in fact be worst.

Not only that but we know that Amy didn’t really have friends at all as a kid and Penny represents the girl she always wanted to be or be friends with.

They literally explain it when she is brought it onto the show. Penny is literally Amy's first friend ever. When you spend your life up to adulthood without friends that's a huge deal.

In real life yes. If this was portrayed as a drama yes. As a comedy/sitcom trope it’s used a a mirror to show bad behaviour that’s corrected with growth in latter acts of the episode or over a few episodes depending on the behaviour

It was the third time, for me. The first was in one episode of Miami Vice. The second time may have been him in the 5th season of Babylon 5, when he and Teller show up as a USO sort of thing. So maybe a half dozen lines every decade.

Teller got to speak in a Simpsons episode as well---an animated caricature of himself no less.

I just thought it sounded a bit different and I think someone in the comments said that they'd used an actor for the voice, so I've gone and believed what some random stranger posted on. the Internet, although, to be fair, it really did sound to me as though the voice was different. It was the clip where Homer interrupts their routine (I'm not the first Teller!'. There is apparently another episode in which they appear, which also features Teller speaking.

@@sauravbanerjee3552 that's the thing. in interviews and lectures, he's a talker. very smart, articulate. but when he's doing magic, he doesn't. so when he does, it just throws you for a moment

@@CrypticCharm Nowadays he doesn't, in some of their earlier acts like the 80s-90s he did do some talking during their magic acts, and it was much more common for him outside of the magic acts to speak even if it was on the same show.

Actually we heard it in the weeding. He said "Thank you" to Penny after Penny chewed his wife out and forced her to sit down.

They had probably changed the writers staff 3 or 4 times by then. This show was great first 3 seasons then it went downhill and by season 7-8 it truly jumped the shark. This was about nerds and nerd culture and turned into any generic couples sitcom!

Apparently him not talking is only part of the act. He does talk when he’s not doing something with Penn. you probably can find interviews of him.

He is actually a qualified language teacher and talks very eleqently. Him being mute is for the act to help make people focus on the trick more

Penny even got hooked on video games because her car key got stuck in the door and she had to spend time with Sheldon until the locksmith came. There was also a time Sheldon had to spend time with Penny because he forgot his key.
