I’ve got 3 of them. I had a Curado DC before it went to the bottom of the lake. I like the Scorpions much better. I also have a Metanium DC and other than the weight of the reel, the Scorpion is on par with the Metanium.
Dude that’s awesome!!!! Not that the curado went swimming though lol. That’s some great feedback for me, personally. Because I’ve looked many times at the Metaniums, but have leaned towards the regular. Mainly because of price, but knowing they’re on par with DC tech, makes it easier. Thanks Jim!
Yes, the 2017 Scorpion DC is an insane deal under $180 on Ebay. It has very compareable casting distance to the Met DC.... The IDC 5 is just an insane value at that price point. My SLX DC doesnt even compare to it.
At 45 years old, I decided to take up fishing. I've been using your channel for research purposes, before I buy any gear. The endless options has been beyond overwhelming, but your videos have been a great help. I'll continue watching and gaining knowledge, getting prepared for gear buying in the spring. Thank you very much for your help.
Man I am so happy to hear that and I'm glad I've been able to help! I'm going to try and do more of these style of videos in the future as well. Not just reels, but more tackle and bait reviews as well. I want to give as much fishing footage as possible, but these are the videos that def do the most good for people
Oh dang dude! You are absolutely right, lol thank you for correcting me. I’m spooling it with new line tomorrow and gonna switch that over 👊🏻 truly appreciate it
i got one of these(Shimano 17 SCORPION DC 100-HG-RH) in april 2020. had a mishap, it went overboard in about 8' of water. Fished(no pun inteneded) it out. took it home dried it out put it away. took it out since then and all is well, whine and all. fine reel.
Really thinking about picking up the 2021 scorpion dc and pairing it with a zodias rod. Or if doomsday get the 47 rods back in stock before winters over. Love my doomsday rods. Got the 6’10” medium power mod-fast action paired with the 2019 scorpion mgl and a 7’3” medium fast action spinning rod paired with a 2500 vanford and mannnnn those combos are so light weight compared to my mojo bass rods.the doomsday rods actions are a little different I feel. My fast action 47 spinning rod feels like a croix extra fast. Soon as I feel a thump on a Ned rig and set that hook it’s backbone right away and I love it. The medium power moderate fast action feels like my medium power fast bass x rod. I use the medium mod fast/scorpion mgl combo for all my top water and jerk baits. Square bills and lipless and of course ploppers and choppos. They have a 7’3” medium heavy mod fast I’ve been wanting to try but I think I wanna either give the zodias a go or get my first g loomis or maybe something alx.
I do a lot of night fishing. I use a scorpion dc and a curado dc because I can't see my lure during a cast and I can tune both of these reels to get very decent casts without backlash when the bait hits the water. Backlash can still happen but its either a casting error on my part or wind.
No I have not, I mentioned a few times that I don’t have one 😅 but I know the braking system is the same as the SLX DC. Not as much fine tuning as the scorpion
@@kikodougies 😂😂 man I gotta get RU-vid payin me more before I do that! Lol But I did some digging and it definitely does have the same braking system!
