I have mine paired with an FX Custom 6’9” MXF and use it for mostly single hook applications. So far just tossed some lighter stuff, so haven’t lowered the brakes past 3. Looking forward to testing more lures to see how it performs overall. So far very impressed, and its kept me from buying an Alphas SV TW, which is crazy cheap now as well. Personally, i do not set up as Shimano recommends by eliminating side-to-side play. I adjust like other baitcasters to the weight of the lure. Works for me.

I have my scorpion dc on a $69.00 6 1/2 ft "crappie" rod from bass pro shop skips smaller lures better than both my Aldebarans. When u move up to small spinnerbaits is when the Aldebaran prevails

Tightening the tension spool a tad more than normal will help you skip better. Try it.

I am looking at the: Shimano Scorpion MGL 19 $158.66 Shimano Curado MGL 150 $199.99 I have been watch a good amount of your vs videos that have these reel in them. My question is which one should I get? What I shall use them for: Line: Main line: braid | Power Pro Maxcuatro Leader line: Mono | Maxima Ultragreen, Fluoro | Sunline FC-100 Lure type: Frog, Jigs, Texas rig, fluke, shaky head, single hook swimbait, . . . for the most part, single hook baits. Lure weights: Possibly as low as (5.31gram or 3/16th ounce) but mostly in the (10.63gram or 3/8th ounce) to (28.35gram or 1 ounce) range. Thank you very much if you are able to help share you knowledge for which reel I should get! If anyone in the comments has both of these reels and would like to share their opinion that would very much appreciated.

I’ve never understood this fascination with skipping. I can do it as well as the next guy (and have done it) but I just don’t find it as practical as a really low trajectory cast. I think social media really made skipping a “thing”…it looks cool and guys film those shots where they’re skipping at a go-pro in slow motion. I just find pure *accuracy* to be more worthwhile…squeaking your bait between pontoons and the dock without smashing into anything, spooking fish and pissing everyone off on shore.

I personally find it more difficult to skip with DC reels, than the regular centrigufal systems. For example with a basic SLX I can skip better than with an advanced magnetic system (e.g. daiwas). I don't find DC reels very suitable for skipping technique.

You have a Steez SV, if you’re going to be skipping why don’t you use that? It’s got what a 12 gram spool? But anyway your rod is absolutely the most important part of the puzzle if you want to be skipping. A MH+ or H with a super soft tip is my go to

I would hope not. The Curado DC skips really well with the biggest issue being knowing when to thumb the spool when the skipping ends.

I think you're asking the wrong question. Whether or not the operator can make the bait skip has more to do with coordination and fine tuning the reel. The question should be "can I make it skip" 😁

I'll take the Scorpion DC over the Curado DC any day, to be honest Curado DC is not worth the money at all, if i were to get the Curado DC, I rather buy the SLX DC, same shit cheaper price
