I recently picked up the 401HG TranX to replace my Lexa 300 that is currently being serviced. I wanted to do a video while fishing, specifically about the reel, so you can watch it in action and hear my first thoughts and overall impression of the reel. Along with a slight comparison to other reels I've used in the past. Hopefully this will help some of you who are considering this reel. I highly recommend it!

Hi mate do you know what's the difference between the 400hd and the 401hd ?

The numbers for the reels have two purposes. The first is the size of the reel, i.e. 200, 300, or 400. These numbers show you how large the reel is and represent that they have a larger line capacity, even with heavier line. Shimano uses even and odd numbers to distinguish right or left hand retrieve. 400 is a right hand retrieve, 401 for left hand. This system allows you to choose the right reel for the situation. I needed a left hand, big bat reel. That's why I chose the 401HG

You know that you can use that combo to catch yellowtails?

@@garrettlaubinger9088 freshwater swimbait rods have just as much backbone as 25-30lb tuna rods. The HG has 17lb of drag...it can definitely handle tuna up to 30lbs.

How do you like the dobyns rod?

I absolutely love the Dobyns line up of rods. Currently have four. 2 with the Champion Series and 2 with the Fury Series. The Fury Series is for those on a budget, Champion Series if you want the nicer gear.

I've thrown everything with this reel from 1oz to 8oz. As long as the reel is set properly with the breaks, you can throw anything
