Shimano XTR Di2 shift modes explained - long-term test 

It's really cool and easy to shift but i think you should feel the change when it shifts the front derailleur because if you don't realize the front shifting when chain jumps between the chainrings, you may be injured bacause of pushing the pedal hard while shifting. It may be happen especially while you are racing. I think it is perfectly useful for 1x11.

This is 8 year old tech, I'm way behind in learning about this. If your racing, can another competitor hack it to make it shift while using their phone or some other kind of device? Are there problems such as batteries dieing quickly or software problems? Can you still put a twig in the rear derailleur if you can't shift it any more and you want ride back home or back to your vehicle?

It makes sound exactly as old AF lenses on camera...so lets wait few years to make nice and quite as USM motor in Canon lenses :D

My CREAM DREAM bike. Chris King r45 disc rear hub will 11 speed Ultegra 11-28 cassette. Ultegra DI2 rear derailleur with XTR rear trigger and display. XTR DI2 front derailleur with XTR 985 30-44 gear chain rings. 11 speed XTR chain with XTR DI2 front trigger shifter and display. Cannondale F29 frame with XLR lefty fork. Thomson 27.2 hidden dropper post. Michelin Wild racer tires.

Long term test - "So far we're still on our initial battery charge"

My Shimano XTR Di2 has been chirping on its own in the basement (must want to get out and ride). Actually, a P error code comes up on the display. I Googled it and it says it means (Rear derailleur Gear position/RD Protection Reset mode). However, I can't find any good information or a video on how to fix it that is specific to my display. Another issue that developed is that I can't read the display by pushing the button. I can see the display if I shift. It's on a Pivot Mach 429 carbon MTB. 1 x 11 - Any ideas or suggestions welcome. Thanks!

I really don't like anything battery operated added to my bike unless it's flashlight. the digital shifter is fine, I just dislike the front derailleur mombo jumbo bull $#!T. XP
