Fun fact! Beelzebub was actually a slang name for Bal ze Bul or "The Lord on High" people changed the name to make fun of him to Beel ze Bub or Lord of the Flies.

Just beat this pest on Hard for the first time. Definitely the smartest opponent so far when it comes to removing my buffs and debuffs, and his critical hit rate is almost as ridiculous as Dante's. There's no fly swatter big enough.

Can't wait to fight him again on the switch.

What I liked was how at first he's just a huge ugly humanoid then he's like "Ok fun time is over" and he goes from just kinda hard to INSANELY HARD

Don't know if this is something that everyone realized but... The noises that start the music, to me they sound like a insect's wings flying. And it fits perfectly, because Beelzebub is da boss.

Oh gods, I did the exact same thing this year. It was a perfect moment when the teacher asked me "How did you know what Beelzebub is?" and I got to respond with "Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, you know the first boss in the Amala Labyrinth!"

Here's a funny story regarding Beelzebub: On my first run, I accidentally went to the Tower of Kagutsuchi before going to the Fifth Kalpa, so I couldn't get the True Demon Ending. So I didn't bother to go further in the Labyrinth of Amala. A few years after I beat the game, I went back to the game to check if there's any unexplored locations. Apparently I hadn't gone through this portal in the Fourth Kalpa that changes location based on the Kagutsuchi Phase. I found myself in this one dungeon that was cursed. As I explored this unknown dungeon, I found this door that lead to a boss battle. That's when I realized that after all this time I could still fight Beelzebub, so I did. Granted, I was pretty overleveled at the time so I decided to go easy of Beelzebub. The only trouble I had was when he used Death Flies and kept killing Michael.

I just finished him off in Digital Devil Saga and Beelzebub is one of my favorites when I'm playing an SMT or Persona he's a requirement if I'm near the end of the game I'm not finishing until I fight and/or fuse him.

The Beelzebub fight is so much more epic in Nocturne compared to DDS 1 and SMT IV. I'm sure it's the music and the sound effects he makes, oh and you're the demi-fiend who is especially powerful.

Yes, the Deathflies bastard! Almost as hard than trying to keep focus to Freikugel Lucifer's ass, when you just had to beat the final boss just before.

After hearing about how difficult he was, I was surprised when I beat him on my first try. Had Mothman (the one from the Broker with all elements) Amaterasu and Daisoujou.

Beelzebub is my absolute favorite demon/persona from the SMT games. This theme fits him perfectly.

It was one of my favourite almighties. I had Beelzebub, Shiva, Metatron in my group. It was the best damage trio ever in my opinion. Luficer was history in 3 minutes. Strongest crittical hit on Lucifer was 12894 damage, with Shiva and her skill Hassohappa. Still the best Shin Megami Tensei game. Great song!

Bits and pieces of the track remind me of antares (Devil Jin's Stage) from Tekken 5, especially those organs in the back (easier to spot with headphones or earbuds on).

Oh God, one time, in English, we were reading Lord of the Flies. I decided to raise my hand and basically go over the laws of Chiaki and.. that.. other dude I can't remember that isn't your friend at first. He was all "Good job, that's an excellent way to put it." I didn't quote anything in particular, such as the fact of it was from Nocturne, but I said "This character believes in a world that's like.." and stated the law afterwards. XD

I put on my anti-death magatama just so I wouldn't have to worry about the instant death effect of Death Flies, still hurts like a bitch though. If your team doesn't have immunity to Death, consider them dead.

Just encountered this fight for my first playthrough and the fact that he has his own theme was so intimidating. Terrific fight, fantastic song, 10/10 game!

though it was a different game I just beat Beelz in devil survivor 2 break record yesterday. I was stubborn and fought him at level 65. took a few turns but I swatted that overgrown fly thanks to Lucifer and Baal

Beelzebub wouldn't look nearly as intimidating without that abdomen, he'd just look scrawny and frail

When I fought Lucifer for the first time, it took me about 90 minutes because even though I was level 91, I had rather stupidly tossed Focus (not to mention my kinda crap team). But then when I took him again (three levels lower and on hard mode) it only took me 15 minutes. Another part of that is because Lucifer forgot to Dekaja, so there was some luck, too.

After I beat the game, I went back to see if I could still fight Beelzebub. I thought it couldn’t, but it turns out that I could still fight Beelzebub, even though I didn’t enter the Fifth Kalpa. The fight was easy. I was above the level one normally would be when they are fighting Beelzebub for the first time.

What sucked was my brother was light based with angel/seraph classed beings. So when Beelzebub did Death Flies it was pretty much game because hed spam it twice to ensure that death hits everyone if it missed any1 the 1st time lol. Later he learned that little move that shields death/expel and used items that shielded him from it.

This damn boss... when I fought him on hard it was a long brutal battle, the joy i felt was infinite after I won but was immediately ruined when a fucking Mot shows up out of nowhere on my way back to the terminal surprising from behind and spams Maragadyne because of my demon weak to fire which then ends up killing me. My controller was never seen again...

This is beyond neat...

Just him fused in SMT4, poor Beezlebub. He's literally going to rot in my stock because I got him AFTER Purgatorium. (His skill set looks like it was built for it and Merk, Doping + Light and Gun Null.) I want to say he is harder in Nocturne but I was a bit overleveled for him (82) in 4. He's still so cool tho.

i straight up relied on Deadly Fury to beat him despite him having physical resistance. It took a long time but he isn't worth dumping points into MAG for

I did that on my first playthrough recently and JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!! The battle was long and difficult. I ended up using Dante to Rebellion the shit out of Lucifer while Scathach and Thor would debilitate and occasionally attack. I would occasionally have Demi-Fiend use Deadly Fury with focus activated beforehand. Root of Evil was just unpredictable and could wipe the floor. I beat lucifer on my second go so I ws pretty pleased with myself for doing this but I'm never attempting TDE again.

Is it just me, or does his head resemblle a fly with Goldilocks-style hair? Edit: Well..that was dissapointing. He didnt scratch me. I had the Harlot to sit there and do jack-shit, Daisoujou to heal and do light damage and Hanuman to buff me, and i had Focus, Deadly Fury and Gaea Rage, And Mothman when Hanuman was drained of MP. Beelzie didnt use Dekaja save for once, nor did he debuff himself of Sukunda. His Death Flies also did nothing when my Amala Mothman came into the field to Megidoalan him to death( Screw Agidyne). He almost killed me, only once, im sure he wouldve destroyed me with his focused attack if i hadnt put turns into putting 2 Rakukajas on myself. Other then that, weak-sauce. I hope Metatron provides more challenge >:S

avians genmas and wilders help here since both the genmas and the avians demons can cross the obstacle and wilder increases you movement range to 7 well that and a few lvl grinding and fusions ^^; and well that worked for me not sure if it will help you oh and good luck on trying to beat him again :D

I found SMT 4's beezlebub harder than Nocturne (I creamed Beezlebub at level 67 on my first try). I am pretty sure it has to do with teams and being prepared.

really? that's a long time for lucifer cause it took me only 20 minutes to kill him (then again i was technically level 110 and my party was in there hundreds [i count even after 99]) so that might've been why...
