I agree. 80s rich was way better. They were rich and weren’t ashamed to show it off…this series stands the true test of time…Just as good today as it was when it first ran.❤❤❤Love Joan Collins
Joan Collins made this a role of a lifetime . She realized the gold mine she had on her hands and played the hilt out of it . She put Dynasty on the map and drove the show to #1 . At 88 it’s amazing to still see her in the news looking fabulous at events in London or Hollywood. She makes the current crop of actresses look shameful in their sweatpants and t shirts . True Hollywood glamour and legend !
The best line yet: Krystle: "What are you doing here?" Alexis: "I've been asking you that question for years and I still haven't heard a satisfactory answer!"
@@ICONICPARIS thanks for bringing me back here to remind people that this was a weak line, not pithy enough ... and she seemed to have trouble saying it
I didn't know who she was from Adam when she first started out. My Favorite Scene was with Dominique Devereaux and with Kirby whom she knew was a "Gold Digger" from Day One.
laminage I love Alexis!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is the best woman of this soap opera, Alexis doing wonderfully and correctly! Ad if I would be on the spot of Alexis I do the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Between Joan's unforgettable performances on Dynasty and Jackie's wonderful, Trashy-but-fabulous novels, the Collins sisters have given me so much Joy over the years! 💕♥️
Alexis is one of the best characters ever created. She made every scene she was in worth watching. Watching these clips makes me want to have a Dynasty marathon.
"You don't know when to stop do you", "Oh yes I do, when I hear the thump thump thump that tells me I've driven over something hard and empty, like your head" Now that's one of the best one liners I've ever heard! hahaha..
The best line of that scene was just before that retort, Sable telling Alexis, after Alexis's man was found dead in a lake, "I bet the bottom of that lake was warmer than your bed." Decades later, I still remember it. I died and split my side laughing.😂
This is amazing! Joan Collins will be remembered forever as the most powerful woman on television, always. For those who never lived in the 80's you don't know what you missed. We will never see the chic, elegant, and classy era of American nostalgia ever again, and Joan Collins led the way.
Joan Collins play'd the hell out of this role! Alexis Carrington! We can NEVER forget you. I hear Nicholette Sheridan is playing the role in the remake but baby there is only one Alexis and that is Ms Joan Collins! She is fabulously wicked and I love her for that!
I know this video is about Alexis, but the way Dominique CONTINUES to read her about her burned champagne is so hilarious! “At the moment I’m having some lovely NON-burned champagne and velvet smooth caviar. Not the kind YOU serve, Alexis.” 😂
My mother and I loved to tune in on Thursday nights back in the day just to hear what this diva had to say. We loved her! Eating caviar, smoking her brown cigarettes, drinking champagne, eating strawberries and running her business with a male secretary.
My all time favorite TV show!! The money, power, the shade. Everything about Dynasty was a delight! Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan will ALWAYS be Queen!! None could do it better.
Yes, saying 'may your maranara never cling to your pasta' to an Italian grandmother. Say it to a Sacilian and you may become part of the agragate mix of the next batch of concrete.
I might have included this gem from Season 4, Episode 2: "People either loathe me or adore me. There's no middle ground with Alexis Colby - never has been, never will be."
What a difficult job Linda Evans had to have, just standing there and being told off again and again. I would've gone to the producers and asked for some good comeback lines.
My oh my. The writers of dynasty really did a good job. Honest. Joan brought Alexis alive; made her like a real person. I'm glad to what the compilation of these clips. They're nostalgic. If only I could watch the show again episode by episode. Ahh
0:44 - Alexis has an absolute classic line in this scene, improvising a conversation between her and Dex: "'Have you been drinking, Alexis?' "Oh yes I have, Mister Dexter!' 'A little too much, Alexis?' 'Oh no, Mister Dexter. A LOT too much!'"
I remember reading once in some article then named the best dressed in primetime soaps to Alexis and for daytime the best dressed was Reva Shane on Guiding Light.
I never watched Dynasty, but am just here for the sexiness of Joan.Always thought she was beautiful in years before Dynasty and the look she had in the years she played this role,was/is iconic.I understand that she was amazing in the role, but I just wasn't into primetime soap operas.
TRAPPER JOHN Alexis IS NOT THE BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!! Who says that Alexis is bitch, that person is FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Alexis!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is the best woman of this soap opera, Alexis doing wonderfully and correctly! Ad if I would be on the spot of Alexis I do the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TRAPPER JOHN You are a fool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not a loser and I am able to english!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Alexis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alexis is the best woman of all soap operas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alexis behaved correctly and I support her and if I were in her place, I will behave the same, LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Alexis is not super btch, loser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alexis IS THE BEST WOMAN OF ALL SOAP OPERAS and Alexis is an example of what should be if you want to win or if you want achieve their purposes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alexis has to be love!!!!!!!!!!!!! And those who do not love her, they are fools and true losers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow...the fashion back in those days was over the top!!! "More" was less and "less" was MORE-MORE-MORE!!! Heavy make-up, big hair, bulky shoulder pads, giant furs, and big accessories!!! But I will say this...the Dynasty women sure knew how to rock those frocks to the full term of Hollywood glamour at it's finest!!!
+islezeus You lack reading comprehension skills and the meaning behind the saying "less is more"...I stated it in the opposite term of the saying, in the spirit of humor!!
+islezeus Like I stated, you lack reading comprehension skills and the meaning of the saying "less is more"!! You simply just can't fathom the thought that you could not comprehend what I wrote, when other RU-vid viewers did. Now you have to resort to name calling as your form of defense!! Quit being a RU-vid troll!!! Also, if you are going to state that someone lacks "writing skills" you should make sure that your own simple sentences are written correctly!!!
+cynventure1 ok sweetie, let me explain this to you: the term "less is more" is ONLY valid in comparison with instances of excess. case in point, Dynasty fashion. This was an instance of excess, therefore the term "less is more" is only valid when going against the Dynasty fashion craze, not when it is used to poorly epitomize the Dynasty fashion craze.
The show was weaker without Pamela Sue Martin. She gave Fallon a compelling duality. She was happy to be rich but didn't quite know how to reconcile it.
Epic snippets of the golden age of television. Joan Collins was a class act! Actresses of that era had style and grace. God, I miss the 20th century!!!
Oh those shoulder pads, more like pillows ! I do unfortunately remember that fashion for having lived through it. I didn't wear them but all my friends padded up every day, one even had shoulderpads in her pygamas !
I'm busy watching this show over again each night, thanks to a recently purchased box set. What gets me now is how utterly over the top the whole show was. What really fascinates me is Joan appears in every scene with a different hair-do and a different outfit to match. And which woman wakes up with full make-up, hair immaculate, and eating a breakfast in bed, which consists mainly of caviar and champagne, oh and just to try and keep it real, a glass of fresh orange juice on the side. Still, I am really loving the extravagance of it all. It makes the stuff of today seem so depressing.
I absolutely love this compilation! The producers of todays TV soap operas need to see and learn how it was done. Nothing today compares to this! Someone needs to set up The Alexis Colby Academy School of Bitching! LOL
I'm enjoying the sheet out of seeing Dynasty (for the first time!) currently airing on POP Tv. Back in the day, I was into Dallas and Knots ... but now I see what all the fuss was about with Dynasty ... it is a HOOT!
This is a masterpiece of amazing editing (theme song is a little too loud is only criticism). So many good zingers from the legendary Joan Collins as Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan! Thank you for making this
