I got this helmet myself a few weeks back, I can easily say it is the most steady helmet I have ever had the last 30+ years, it is very quiet, again I say, so steady, when I turn to check traffic, it feels as if a piece of me. I would recommend it without any hesitation.

I totally agree with you Anthony on the top vent hole cover. Perhaps something that will replace the visor with some kind of simple scoop and cover? Thanks. I see this as a future touring Helmet that affords a bit more room from the chin bar. Not to mention the clean lines.

In the market for a new lid. Currently have a Scorpion Exo 1100. Thinking of going with the Hornet X2 or the RF-1200. How would the X2 work as a every day work horse? Would the RF-1200 be a better all around? My riding style is naked street and adv/dual sport. Most of my time spent on road.

If most of your time is spent on-road, we recommend going with a street lid. While aerodynamics have greatly improved in modern dual-sport helmets, you will still notice additional buffeting at higher speeds and during head checks. I have this helmet in white, it's great. But I'm interested in getting some MX goggles for it. Do all MX goggles fit it or do I have to look for goggles with smaller frames? Specifically interested in Oakleys, O2 for instance.

I noticed that the face opening isn't as big as I would like (as Tony would say "If I'm going to nit-pick") and I am having a hard time finding goggles that fit. I am wearing a medium. Do you have any recommendations? Kind of want a middle of road option.

+Point71v The middle options will be the Bell MX-9 Adventure and the Speed and Strength SS2500. The Raconteur I'd choose the Hornet X2, because the face shield has detents and can quickly be removed without screws and without removing the peak visor. -DrewZilla

I'd get this but I'd want to see for myself just how effective the new peak is. But then you wouldn't be able to return it if it's been out on the bike :(

Having ridden in it myself, I tell you what I noticed most is that it is really great at counteracting the lift that you get on almost all ADV lids. I hit bursts upto to 80+mph a couple of different DS bikes from Ducati, Suzuki and Triumph. In a straight line, I didn't get much in the way of buffeting or lift. The shark gills are massive and work really well. I will say that I did notice some pull on head checks, but that is always the big bugaboo with ADV helmets at highway speed. It's nothing better or worse than any competitor. The interior is massively improved over the old Hornet. It's way more quiet and so much more comfortable due to upgraded materials.

+david echeverri rodas Even with a liner and glasses, you should still wear size small (S). If you find it's too tight even after the break-in period, you can get a slightly thinner head liner in the XS-SM 5mm size. That would make the helmet fit looser but not as loose as size medium. So I bought this helmet... And I honestly don't like it. It hooks the bottom of my ears and is actually very painful when I take it off. But while riding, it's great and everything positive said about it - is true. But when I get off the bike, it hurts like hell to take off. I've NEVER had a helmet that hurt to take off... but this feels like it's ripping my left ear off. I'd trade off or sell off this helmet in a heartbeat. Shop I got it from will not take a return... Didn't get it from ZLA - to my utter shame. But I had in store credit...

Try using a head sock or similar. They help keep your ears nice and flush and also help keep the helmet cleaner - keep you warmer or help absorb sweat on hot days.

Bryce Fehr The Variant isn't exactly the same fit as the Hornet X2, but they're both similar, so you can likely wear the Hornet X2 in the same size as the Variant. -DrewZilla

I have had this helmet for a week now and the pain in the outer part of my ears is ridiculous. I notice it most when I take off my helmet. It is a medium and it fits once I'm in, but it is still a bit awkward on my ears. Any suggestions? I am considering returning it.

RevZilla It is when I take the helmet off I Notice it most. Note: this isn't my first helmet and I have never had this type of pain in the ears. It is on the top outer edge of my ears

Christian Low It seems like it's the position of the ear pocket in the helmet not lining up exactly with your own ears. It may improve as the helmet breaks in, though if it feels like it's the shape of the EPS hard foam, you may want to consider a different helmet. -DrewZilla

Hey Anthony! Love the video. Quick question, if I’m a 59cm and I tried the large and it easily move left to right but size Medium was tight around the top. Which should I get?

I recommend getting size medium and then also getting the thinner MD 5mm center pad. The stock center pad is 9mm thick, so the thinner 5mm center pad will give you just a little more room around your head. Being a two-time Shoei helmet customer, I'm a bit hesitant to switch brands. That out there, I wonder if there is a dual sport helmet that has the inner tinted shield. Currently, I carry the clear shield, but would like to get away from that.

What is the difference between regular Shoei hornet x2 and the x2 seeker? Is the difference only in the color scheme?

I have fitted the 40mm JBL speakers that come with the Cardo freecom 4+ It is perfect. And I actually believe it would fot the 45mm JBL also. Good luck

Wow, this helmet has been out for 8 years?... I have a 5 year old Neotech 2. Can I expect the fit to be similar? I am thinking of pre-ordering the "X2 Invigorate". Is the only new thing the colors? The black/green would go great with my Tiger RP but of course am not going to buy a new helmet just to match my bike, I am going to try the Krios Pro as well, but many reviews and comparisons I have seen have mentioned the noticeable difference in feel of quality between the top Japanese helmets and the KLIM.

Yeah, the Shoei Hornet X2 is getting a bit long in the tooth. The fit will be a bit more aggressive around the jawline than the Neotech 2 since one is made for all day comfort on touring bikes and the other is made for adventuring and more aggressive riding from time to time. Also, to answer your question, the Invigorate is just a graphic so yes the only different is the colors. Now that this helmet is available, did Shoei provide a plug for the hole at the top where the visor attaches?

hirezus Unfortunately, there is not an included plug for the vent hole when the visor is removed. However, it's a 10mm hole, so you could likely fashion a plug pretty easily. The helmet just includes a breath guard and chin curtain. -DrewZilla

What are the safety scores of these helmets in crash tests like the ones of SHARP-UK?

The version sold here in the United States is different than the version sold in the UK, so SHARP scores are not valid for this helmet here in the US. Here in the US, it passes both the DOT and Snell safety tests. -DrewZilla

The site used the matte black as the image for the black on the site. So I ordered the black thinking it was the matte black since the matte black appeared grey. Id like to exchange this 2mrw and the contact number isn't working. The site also said ships in 24 hours yet my packages took 3 days to arrive.

Hey Guys, are Shoei Hornet X2 and Shoei Hornet ADV same helmets? I can't seem to find that info on their site, and X2 is nowhere to be found in Europe :/

mungos991 The Hornet ADV is the ECE-certified European version of the DOT-certified US version Hornet X2. They are actually made slightly differently to pass the different certifications. They're basically the same design though. -DrewZilla

@@RevZilla Next question...have you ever experienced a pinlock Evo that does not fit? I just received my helmet and anti fog inserts but it won't fit on the visor. I have the eccentrics adjusted so they are at maximum width and the closest I can get to the second pin is about 1/4".

First, I'd check the packaging to make sure it's the correct Pinlock. Second, if it's correct, make sure you have the face shield removed from the helmet. Finally, flex or bow the face shield slightly out in order to make the Pinlock easier to align with the pins. -DrewZilla
