Thanks! The lathe is what I have been working on the last month as the previous owner had a crash that misaligned the turret and spindle so that was fun to fix. And I can buy shrink fit tool holders for cheaper than I can get er collet holders and it only cost me $200 to make the shrink fit machine
@@HuskyMachining I will be honest hadn't looked into the prices of shrink fit holders but what brand you using? We have about 25 ER holders at the moment but would love to free some of those up for my static tools.
@@dnjmachine I am a pretty cheap guy most of the time and I think shrink fits tools are amazing and worth every penny. Mostly because its not that many pennies and they really help with tool rigidity (and I love the clearance for small tools). I have bought every brand of cat 40 shrink fit holder from ebay I could find and 75% were terrible and then I found YG-1 holders and they are the brand I stick with now. I just bought 2 more yg-1 1/8" shrink fit holder and I think they cost me $150 each shipped to my door
You are starting to have a really sweet machine shop mate. Lathe and 5 axis 👍👍👍👍👍👍 I love it. I Hope you are doing good 👌 And a cmm thats awesome. You have a way Nice shop that me 😍😍
haha, thanks man! I do feel spoiled but at the same time I'm on the hunt for a second spindle. Well I guess it would be a 3rd spindle as I forgot the lathe but I need a 3 axis mill for the simple jobs. The CMM is cool but I need to learn how to use the software. As soon as that happens imma make a video on it and hopefully start using it for internal inspections
Nice 5th axis, I would like one for our shop... I would really need another mill for that tho as they take up so much room and its not something that I would like to take on and off lol. Thanks for the videos and stopping by our channel. Forgot to mention how did the wiper hold up?
I have really really (just ask my wife) have been wanting a 2nd mill spindle as taking the 1100lb trunnion on and off is super annoying since I only have the one mill. The wiper seems to be holding up great. I did have to do some fine adjustment as I lasered one of the holes about a 1/4" off but besides that there's no more coolant pooling on top so I would call it a win.
@@HuskyMachining Yea we do tons, The last video I posted the stuff in the bags and the SS spacers all lathe made. We have tons of videos on the Tormach that your machine could do easily. We have a 300 part order of SS spacers right now.
@@dnjmachine I would love to be running my machine on simple parts like that but my main customers are Xometry and Fictiv and I never see simple lathe stuff on there portals. I mostly got the lathe to do op1s for the 5 axis machine but it runs about 1% of the time. I really dig your lathe videos and was really considering buying a tormach slant lathe to learn cnc lathe but ended up getting my st10 at an auction for a goodish deal
