blackturkdog _ nah, not true. He was too big plus the name's too unique. "LL Cool J" could only be a rap name. But as far as knowing his music and singing along.... Agreed!!
After that one minute. A *Fashion Trend was born. *Kangos Hat, Adidas Sneakers, & a Leather Jacket. With a *[BIG BOOM BOX] on your shoulder.. I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY RADIO..
He was a KID and he was already a Grandmaster. Y'all don't understand how cold LL was...he was a baby compared to RUN-DMC and they were young compared to Cold Crush and Melle Mel and whatnot, and he was already writing bars that were beyond them. Seeing him as the Bald Headed Cool Black cop on TV is a whole universe away from who he was in the mid-eighties. Back then, he was a Young God sent to earth with a microphone and a gold notebook.
Bro I'm your age and cannot watch this without tearing up. 😢 We'll never get this again. Just be grateful we were able to be there for the pure experience.
That cat in the gray sweatsuit to Cool J's right was trippin' me OUT!! Check out the pointing! This dude was the "hype man" without sayin' a WORD! LMFAO LOVE this movie!!
Beeboy69 I was thinking the same thing.. I remember when I saw this scene for the first time and he definitely stole the movie with that small cameo introduction. I've watched the battle scene from Beat Street at least once a year since it came out.
Back when you had to have actual skills and talent to get a deal a hot beat and repeating a chorus would get you laughed out of the studio no mumble raps allowed 👍👍👍💯💯💯💯
Soon as I heard that song, I knew he was taking over! Walked to the record store to buy his album the day it dropped! This song became my anthem, because I was known for having my box with me EVERYWHERE!
42nd st the real forty deuce before the Disney tourist crap, i was 9 at the time still remember seeing Krush Groove later. Earlier the very same day I witnessing a guy get robbed in broad daylight! Right on the corner of 42nd, while other people simple walked by like there wasn't nothing to see. lol
This should be required viewing for any aspiring hip hop artist. In one minute, on pure raw talent alone, LL goes from about to get shot to a made star. In one minute on screen he became an absolute mega star with how he just took control in that room and commanded their attention. A true lost art today.
I went to see this in Miami at the 163rd street theater and when LL cool J stepped on to the scene with this, the whole theater got up and started dancing!
What people dont know about this movie, is that its was actually based on Def Jam... I remember watching this everyday as when I was around 9 or 10 years old. Along with Purple Rain lol
At the time this movie came out; this was the most talked about part. Especially if you haven't seen it yet; Kats who seen the were hyped about this part. They didn't even know his name.

check out L.L right hand man E telling the story with his hands everytime he say sumthing,me and my homie Chee must've emulated dis scene a million times when we was young.
True story. Years ago LL was at a laker game on the court during halftime by himself waiting for a fan to acknowledge him. No one did until the last second when a kid asked for his autograph.
Anthony Cousins we were outside Sunrise Multiplex(the theatre in the ll cool j 'doin it' video) opening night of this movie. Place was way too overcrowded, people got ratchett & restless, fight broke out, glass broke, crowd scattered. Never saw krush groove that night. We ran down Sunrise Highway and saw terminator instead lmao. I was 14yrs old.
When you finally get a job interview and they tell you they ain't hiring no more, But you ain't hearing that because you been unemployed for 6 months 😂
