Moisturizer before, moisturizer after, TADAAAA now you don’t have to worry 🤣 I feel like those of us who have been using it for years and years have become accustomed to the effects, and know what needs to be added or removed as the weather/skin changes. I tried the pea size amount for my whole face, and ended up rubbing my face raw, and seeing ZERO effects. Went back to using “too much” and my skin returned to normal 🤪

@@aadtie5633 yes, but i guess my cystic acne didn’t get the memo, since if I use the amount I need to cover my face keeps any new ones from cropping up, meanwhile using a pea sized amount, let’s them run wild and free 😂 I’ve been using it for over a decade at the strongest percentage possible though, that may have something to do with it!

@-MaryPoppins-
@-MaryPoppins- 2 года назад
@@sahiljonglekar7950 have you just started hun?? If so, YES, YOURE going to want to sandwich it in between two layers of moisturizer!!! 1. I wash my face with gentle non acne cleanser (I use glow recipe papaya sorbet enzyme cleansing balm, it’s a mouthful, but it’s such a gentle balm that gets rid of any sunscreen, makeup, and oil!!! You want to use something NOT meant to exfoliate or treat acne!!!) 2. Apply toner first and then essence 3. First layer of moisturizer, enough for my skin to absorb, not enough to wear as a sleeping mask 😂 4. Apply my tretinoin 5. After that’s absorbed (mine goes from whiteish, to clear, yours may not, and it will NOT typically absorb the way everything else did, so don’t worry about that!!) I apply a nice even, thin layer of my moisturizer again, and dab a bit more on the driest spots on my face to prevent irritation. I dab tiny bits of tretinoin onto my healing scars, but that’s only because I’ve noticed the huge difference that makes as far as the speed at which they heal, and I’ve been using it for so many years, so start off gently!!! And that’s it!! Keep away from corners of mouth, corners of nose, corners of eyes, and around the eyes for now, since those are the areas that are most prone to extreme dryness and cracked skin!!! Just remind yourself that most people have a “purge period where the skin turns over so much faster, that the underlying pimples from the future travel back in time and hit you, essentially all at once 😩 you may break out worse for a week or two, BUT this ends, I promise!!! The end result is less pain from those awful cysts, and you’ll finally be able to smile without having that annoying stinging pain from the new ones :,( be gentle with your face, and above all else, DO NOT PICK AT YOUR FACE. The redness seems to get worse for me if I do!! Also, you will be way more prone to sunburn, which means more scars, SO, SUNSCREEN NEEDS TO BE APPLIED AND REAPPLIED THROUGHOUT THE DAY IF YOURE GOING OUT!!! Good luck hun!!!

This is subjective to sensitivity. I have been using prescription strength tretinoin for 15 years now, starting when I was 15 for severe acne. Why 3 times? That’s too much. And by too much I don’t say that out of concern for your skin but rather your wallet.. I understand tretinoin may be difficult to spread to the entire face with pea sized amount because it’s absorbed into the skin so quick… what I found helps is applying after cleansing my face while the skin is still sliiiiiiightttly damp.. it’s easier spread, much easier. I know they say to wait 30 mins after cleansing before applying tret because it would penetrate deeper into the skin. Which isn’t bad but could cause irritation. But guess what? I do it anyway lol the deeper it penetrates the better… and I get close to 0 irritation/purging/peeling because I’m really good with keeping my face hydrated/moisturised

I tried everything, from sandwich method to hydration, nothing worked. After seeing this video I tried pea-size for 2 weeks now in reluctance (coz you really didnt feel anything on your skin.. it's pea-size. It didnt feel there at all) and in 2 weeks (6 times) my skin got really soft and nice, and my hyperpigmentation really faded, these 2 weeks made so much difference compared to months when I used more retinol. Food grade, latex free gloves. You can get a box that will last you forever for less than 8$. You would still have the dexterity in your fingers and be able to spread the product more evenly as brushes tend to wipe away rather than press gently into your skin with your fingers. (That does not mean you can’t or should not use brushes, I just find that I use less product and get better results with gloves.) One large box lasts almost three months for me and I use one pair a day. It also works with other products, not just retinol, for my acne situation. I’d also recommend you get gloves without powder inside as using them often can dry out your hands. My skin is ultra sensitive and the gloves work wonders for me.

Thank you for showing this. I’ve used it for 10 years and had rash recently and after seeing this, I’ve been using way too much I did go see my dermatologist just in case who also said to limit the trentinoin to pea size! Thanks for all of your wonderful videos

I use a lot more than that and it's prescription Tretinoin Cream and I use it on a dry face I don't put moisturizer on first and I've been using it for quite a while and I'm getting absolutely no irritation whatsoever I even put it on my eyelids and under my eyes my skin is just very resilient but I also have a lot of professional chemical peels and I use a lot of different acids so my skin can handle a lot and that teeny tiny amount that he's putting on his face just doesn't cut it for me so everyone's skin is different if your face can handle it then use it accordingly if you can't handle it then a teeny tiny amount might work for you but that's definitely only one cheek for me!

How do you know when you should upgrade in percentage or strength of the retinol you're using?

If it's not working? Atleast try the product for two months before switching

The "problem" with this pea size amount advice, is that it doesn't cover the entire face in the slightest. I use the CeraVe retinol resurfacing serum, and in no way would that amount spread thinly and nicely across my whole face. I have to do decent "dabs" and reapply otherwise it's basically pointless.

I use tretinoin gel because it gives better and faster result’s. Just wear sunscreen and moisturizer because your skin will be dry and flaky

You can use even less than that, if you just put it around your eyes and wherever else you need to focus on... The whole face does not age the same.

currently I am using 1 % Retinol for my whole face and for my neck I use the lower percentage of retinol to avoid irritation. Yes, I need to look after my neck too

this is the main reason that I use the Roc capsules. I know myself, and I tend to use too much if left to my own devices. 🖤

I use a lot of Retin A 0.05% on top of pure argain oil or vicecersa, and my skin can take it perfectly fine 3-4 times per week. BUT I use vitamin C sporadically and focus on anything that is wound healing for the skin like red light mask, cicaplast, arnica, and lots of moisturizer and sunscreen daily.

Yes, but the same thing happens to me as happened to him (plus he used more, as I have to, than the "pea sized" amount that's always said to be the correct amount)-- he ran out before he got all the skin on his face. He didn't spread it so as to get every area.

if you guys are scared of purging and want to make it less "purging" try Sandwich method layering moisturizer before and after retinol

They way a person puts on cream don't matter. If their skin rejects it, then it rejects it, but it really has nothing to do with they way they put on the cream

Question that anyone may answer: What is the equivalent of 0.05 retin-A or tretinoin in retinol? Because where I live, buying retin-A is actually easier and cheaper than retinol.

You mean an OTC retinoid that is strong? Try adapalene.
@neverwasastar
@neverwasastar Год назад
Both Differin and La Roche Posay Effaclar adapalene gel can be bought over the counter and both contain adapalene (strongest retinoid without needing a prescription in the USA).

I have a bad habit of using too much, and its a hard habit to break. But my skin definitely looks irritated all the time. I always think more must be better for anti aging, but maybe not if its irritating my skin..

Your face and skin is so nice oh yeah your teeth also are so white, if you have Botox and fillers. Whoever did it is extremely skilled. In australia our injectors aren’t skilled and most fillers look fake :(

i think product spreads + sits differently on diff ppl. a pea size amount is uncomfortable for me to use due to the stretching of my skin trying to spread it around, so i use a chickpea amount. black and white thinking is harmful. ill keep in mind intolerance tho!
