I really wish I'd know this before buying a Golf GPS Watch, especially before getting the Shot Scope V3 GPS Watch.
After using the Shot Scope V3 for sometime, here is my review on the watch, the GPS and the stats package that comes with it.
If you're a Golfer looking to improve your handicap, tracking stats and knowing your yardages can make a huge impact, so don't overlook their importance!

Nice review. I picked this up last week and used it on my first round this past weekend, and it was seriously fantastic. I think it only missed one stroke the whole game, and the extra data and analytics was very enjoyable to see. It's funny how being able to look over the map of the game made the whole experience more fun, reviewing the strokes and data was like reminiscing on the game. One thing I noted was that my putts and pin locations seemed off sometimes, but I think I might have been forgetting to press the pin collect button exactly on the pin. I'll see if it works better next game. The current price of this at $160 USD seems incredible for both watch and trackers; combined with no subscription, I can't think of any gear in golf that's a better deal.

That's great to hear and congrats on the purchase! I agree with everything you said, it adds so much to your game and experience and for a very reasonable price! I think the better you get pressing the putts over the hole, the better that'll be. Enjoy.

Had a v3 for almost 12 months now, brilliant purchase if you are interested in keeping a real eye on stats in the interest of knowing what to work on. And if you're having lessons good info to pass on to your coach. Get the odd missread on club if you grab a couple out at the same time or change your mind etc, and I like to double check putts at the end of the round for location, as even if you select how many puts and where the pin is it can have both putts on top of the hole, which isn't good for tracking misses.

V3 is fantastic been learning from shots plotted and on 1st hole 5i is best for me so last 3 rounds I've hit 5i and birdie twice 😁 also learning what greens I 3 putt so I make sure I really learn those greens. Learning your par 3 carry distances is a massive confidence boost

I've had my V3 for about 6 months now, and I sync it with the app on my iPhone after the round, so can look at info there and then whilst having a lemonade (?) in the clubhouse. I love it. But remembering to record putts I am a little remiss with on occasions. Thanks for a good review.

Enjoy that lemonade 😀 It does take some getting used to with remembering to mark the putts but at least there is a good edit feature afterwards if absolutely needed. Thanks

I’ve used the V3 since it’s release. Very simple. Tags are light, unobtrusive and dead easy to fit in my experience. Yea not problem you will have as with all of them is if you have any counter weights in your putter which one of my older putters does have. Tracks shots itself. Just need to remember to tag the flag and add your putts. Stats are great and the strokes gained feature is very helpful. ditched the Lazer and make reference to the stats to understand what areas I need to improve to get to the next handicap level. Great product and probably the best value in the market. One drawback is you might have to make a few corrections, forgotten pin tags and if you made a has of any provisional balls or penalties.

My V3 arrives tomorrow. I can't wait. I've been keeping stats in a spreadsheet. It's time consuming, and doesn't contain nearly as much information. I'm really excited to use the V3. It is powerful, but not expensive. Let's see, ~$200 for a V3, or you can spend $760 for a Garmin G2 with sensors. Or, if you really want to spend, go for an Arccos system, for $250 up front, plus $156 a year, which after 5 years would cost you over $1000.

I was amazed by the power of the stats and how easy it all is. As someone who likes stats, being able to come home and have it all there on the desktop inc the comparisons to different handicap levels is brilliant. I hope you love it.

@@JonPerkinsGolf I"m sure I will. I love stats, plus I totally agree with the rule that "what improves is what gets measured". My goal is to reach single digit handicap this year, about a 9 stroke improvement from where I am at the moment. I have mine unboxed, the club ids are all attached to my clubs, and I'm setting up the ap now. Unfortunately while it was 67 degrees F (19 C) yesterday, it snowed an inch today, so I won't be able to play for a few days. Interestingly, when pairing it, it asked what sort of device it was and one option was the "Shot Scope X5" which is apparently a new high end model to be priced at $300. It doesn't seem to be available for purchase yet, and is not on their website. You might try to snag one early and be the first to review it.

I just ordered thr H4 which is similar. Really looking forward to getting 5+ rounds of golf recorded so I can start looking at those stats and participate in the leader boards.

I've had a V3 for over a year and sold it. Got frustrated over it constantly missing shots (at least 5 per round), the extremely slow gps, and the fact that it doesn't keep your score (really, it doesn't). The fact alone that you have to correct the missing shots, makes all resulting stats useless. Guessing where you hit that 7 iron (or was it an 8?) is never accurate. And gps is just not accurate enough to produce any usefull putting stats. It is just 'lying by statistics'. Nothing more. I ended up using it just for distances, which is a pity

I am having an issue adding a stroke to a water hole. If my shot goes into the water hazard I have the choice to play my next shot from a Drop Zone which is off to one side of the fairway but I can't get the dashboard edit function to recognize my shot from this offset Drop Zone. Please can you advise how this can be done.

I guess you have the choice between something like this and a laser. Personally I've never been great with lasers and love how simple this is. It doesn't get in the way, it's very accurate and gives a good range of accurate info. So for me it would definitely be a good option! (The stats are awesome on it as well though). Hope this helps somehow.

How easy was it to fit the tag into your putter? I tried with a competitor product and gave up when the only way was to drill away part of the shaft end!! If yours works then it would be great. 😊

Some of the tags took a bit of effort to get in, but all were done in 10 minutes, so doable and no cutting required!

3M makes some heavy duty double stick tape which works great for this (search for "3M VHB Heavy Duty Double Sided Tape"). Cut the threaded portion of the tag off and tape the tag to the end of your club.

If you lose a ball and have to drop, can you record that during play, or do you have to correct it later?

Hey, you can record penalties as you go or back in the after round area.

@Jon Perkins Golf Thanks. I was about to spend around $600 on a Garmin S42 and the Garmin sensors. All I want is a device to record and help analyze my game. I will only wear this while golfing. Think the Shot Scope V3 is perfect for what I need and a lot less money.

@@thephotographer539 If you can turn the unit off, hold down the bottom two buttons for about 30 seconds and the device will fully reset. Then update the firmware. This may take several tries, as the stock firmware had issues with connecting to bluetooth. But as of this date (Aug 4 23) the firmware is solid and I have no BT connection issues.
