When the UK was in the EU the French had to take the migrants back, as per the Dublin Regulation. Now, they don't. And they certainly don't have to pay the UK anything.

@@aethellstan The French are not your employee, they don't work for you. The UK contributes financially to the maintenance of the border infrastructure in and around Calais. That's it. The French don't owe you anything.

There are a number of issues with this: 1. Are there no cap of just how many we are allowing into the country (both legal an illegal). The public sevices and infrustructure are already falling apart. 2. If these people are genuine refugies, why are they not claiming assylum in France. 3. How is it that France can deport far more people than the UK. 4. This discussion assumes all the people are fleeing persicution and war. Economic migrants have not been mentioned.

Where r all these people gna live?? There is a housing crisis!! What about integration and social cohesion? Things are bad enough without more people in the UK!! We don't have the infrastructure right now, how is it going to get better if we let more unveted people in. If these people were here to contribute to society then thay wouldn't throw there documents in the sea. In fact thay would do the complete opposite or come via a legal root.

adopt what business do in the UK. For every illegal that they employ, the business gets fined £10K. So, for every illegal, we fine France £20K. And if they refuse, we simply dont renew the payment and send the navy in to blockade the route. Problem solved
