In this video, we'll be diving into the differences between monofilament and fluorocarbon leader. If you're an angler or just getting into fishing, you might have heard of these two types of fishing lines but aren't sure which one to use for your next fishing trip.
Monofilament line is a traditional fishing line that has been around for decades. It's made of a single strand of nylon material and is known for its stretchiness and ease of use. On the other hand, fluorocarbon is a newer type of fishing line that is made of a denser material and is known for its invisibility underwater and sensitivity.
In this video, we'll be discussing the pros and cons of each type of fishing line, including their knot strength, abrasion resistance, visibility, and more.
By the end of this video, you'll have a better understanding of the differences between monofilament and fluorocarbon leader, and which one might be better suited for your fishing needs. So, whether you're a seasoned angler or a beginner, be sure to watch this video before your next fishing trip.

''(fluro) it is definitely more abrasion resistance" - wrong, see Salt Strong tests

Fluorocarbon is more abrasion resistant? Hang on to that dream.

Only time I use mono is for topwater fishing. Outside of that I throw fluorocarbon at all times. But to be honest the sink rate between mono and fluorocarbon is not much of a difference. I've done testing in both freshwater and saltwater. Freshwater is where you can see a decent difference because neither are as buoyant due to obviously no salt in the water. For mono leader you don't need the so called " leader spools " I just buy the spools of mono 440 yards for $11 I haven't had a fish bust me off yet. Been using this since I started fishing at age 7 and still using it at age 39. Great stuff got my first 40" snook on it and held up well. Now for fluorocarbon unfortunately manufacturers have made this topic a pissing contest between brands and actually even some contests within companies themselves. For example I love seaguar but they have way to many Fluorocarbons and their marketing is top notch. They definitely get people hook line and sinker. Especially when it comes to blue , pink and gold labels But one that I have been using for years and absolutely love it is the seaguar sts salmon leader. Get 100 yards for about $18!! Off amazon I prefer my leaders being on the stiffer side and not a lot of stretch. This stuff is absolutely amazing for snook , red or any other toothy/abrasive fish

Floro is not nearly as abrasion resistant as mono. There are numerous test on the internet to prove it

I have seen some of those since posting this video, and I think your comment is a bit too certain based on what I've seen. Many of these compare one brand and size mono to one brand and size fluoro. As far as abrasion resistance is concerned, diameter is the major factor. Fluro is usually thinner in the equivalent size, so equal diameter testing rather than strength would be an interesting test

@@tailwateroutfitters also I believe they use similar diameters for comparison

I've not seen that yet. Salt Strong's newest one is very interesting, but they do only test 20lb, which is different diameters between the fluoro seguar, fluoro ande, and mono ande@@kadinmccallummusic5210

@@tailwateroutfitters I believe they have a few different videos. The one i saw had similar diameters. I see your point though. The more important thing to me with floro is that its hard to see underwater. Not all fish care, but some picky fish are easier with floro

I would agree with that for sure, and I bet the hardcore snapper guys do too@@kadinmccallummusic5210

It all depends on your your appliclication, and prefrance. When I look at mono vs Fluoro I am going for line memory and tensel str. I want something that I going to be able to hold a great knot with out breaking at a smaller diameter, while being able to stay straight. I do lots of salt water fishing for bull red, mackrel, grouper, drums and fish around lots of docks.

Am pretty sure mono is more abrasive resisting and stretches, fluro dose not stretch neither is abrasive it’s on ment to be a leader…

Fluorocarbon stretches more than mono. Do your own test at home

In one video guy says braid to mono because it stretches more for bass well that's not true then although he has caught bass over 10 lbs
