The Lexus UX Is the Cheapest new Lexus model but does Cheapest means worst? Not even close.
So Should you buy a Lexus UX? A new Lexus model that launched in 2019 and in a way replaced the Lexus CT.
I truly enjoyed driving this car for a week to test it and do this review. The interior in the front is a definite highlight. Small cars these days have to be cramped and loud but not this one. The front seats are very comfortable and the materials inside are a true highlight.
No car is perfect and neither is the Lexus UX. The back room space is compromised. The lack of touch screen which forces you to use the horrendous touch pad is not cool. The exterior design is something I like but I can see how it's not for everyone. it can be much at times.

Just looked at the Lexus dealer last week. We live in Poland and choices are slim, but the UX fits our needs and desires. We are so happy to have found your (The Car Care Nut) review, as you always answer all of our questions. Becasue you are a super qualified mechanic, you had some significant information when appropriate and helpful. You're reviews are tops! God bless you.

We have a 2021 ux. The hybrid version has a much better ride either the battery weight helps or it’s sprung differently. Fit and finish is great. Little noisy but rides great and a pleasure to be in

Only on the very worst roads and on the absolute windiest day it might feel a little too sporty, but it’s as quiet as an ultra-luxury Lexus ES in almost all other conditions. I would never describe it as “noisy” it’s typically very quiet & smooth, and the 2023 is a quantum leap forward from the old MC platform in every conceivable way. I’m glad Lexus finally realized, “just because it’s small doesn’t mean it should feel any less luxurious.” A lot of shoppers want a refined, small vehicle and they hit a home run with this. I will never want nor need anything bigger but I want a luxury car, and this delivers on that

@@guppy360 Is the suspension too stiff in the F-Sport version? If we live in an area of, potentially, bad roads? Maybe because of the rundown Run flat tires? I believe, switching them, might get a lot better.

I recently bought a 2023 version of the UX Hybrid and it features an updated infotainment system, they've removed the track pad (and added seat heating and cooling buttons in its place), added a larger and wider touchscreen (also moved the screen forward on the dash), removed the CD player. The knobs on the air con vents no longer lights up in the dark.

This is much like the Toyota Cross. It's for a specific group of people, small family, young couple, or older couple without kids and need ability to carry few things comfortably. It's an upgrade from a Toyota but not as expensive as a full Lexus SUV. I for one wouldn't mind either the Cross or the UX now that I don't need a bigger SUV, even the RAV 4 is too much for my uses. On the value side, fully loaded Cross is almost $35K and the US 200 F Sport is about $1000 more, so it would make more sense to get the Lexus than the Cross.

There is no infotainment system that is a straightforward for everybody without playing with it for at least 10-15 days. That’s how much I needed to learn everything about this touchpad.

Thank you an informative video! Just a suggestion, the nature of the videos on this channel is not fast action videos, so pushing 60fps video only increases the network bandwidth and computing power required to view the video and it doesn't add to the quality of the video. There is only a mind limit on the touchpad. I also had it for about 10 days with my UX, but you get used to it and become a reflex. Plus you don't use it often in reality, having the control panel at the tip of the armrest and the other physical controls.

I've drove the 2023 F sport handling version quite often and its a nice car. The upgraded screen is a lot better than this one you are showing and also the controls. I like the seats in the F sport better also. Not really cheap though in price but lots of options included. Some say its too close to the NX in price but not really since to get the same features the NX is much higher. Talking about the F sport handling model. Quiet and nice to drive. I like the size but not trying to haul a lot of people, its not made for that. Some road noise but depends on the road. Overall the changes improve it more than a small amount from some earlier versions. Plus its made in Japan which I think overall builds better cars at that plant.

@vapeking hello yes I still absolutely love the car. It’s more compact than a traditional crossover but that is perfect for me living in a big city. Amazing gas mileage and a truly posh interior it’s a pleasure to drive. I heard a few people say the same thing about road noise but the same people told me that the Venza was better. And while I know the Venza is a fine car I assure you the Venza makes significant more road noise than the UX. It’s a Lexus despite what other people say and it feels like a Lexus. The only complaint I have when it comes to noise is under heavy acceleration the engine is a little uncouth however it’s very comfortable and a wonderful car. I always recommend test driving first but if you do get one I hope you truly enjoy it.

Buying a used UX 250h is an excellent idea, from all points of view: it is the leader in subcompact luxury crossover segment, being the most reliable and having the lowest TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) plus it has a lower resale value than it deserves (this is a huge differential toward the financial freedom) - I bought mine with 34% discount vs. MRSP in 2020 because it was driven 2 months, 1989 km at the end of 2019 - #2 deal of my life 😊 The most important is to buy one that was very well maintained, that you verify from all points of view. It will last some decades...

They have gotten rid of the track pad which I like better than reaching for a touch screen. Paddle shifters are useless in a CVT. I turned off the fake engine sounds. Apple Car Play works well (wired connection). Sound system is good for music. Quiet interior. The car is pricer now than when I bought it. It is a tough choice for my next car, considering a Model Y. No range anxiety, Fill up in 3 minutes. The interior is a little tight, but I am mostly driving alone. The car value has been very good for what you get in my opinion. It is very reliable.

I test drove both UX and current gen Corolla hatchback precisely because they are based on the same TNGA-C platform despite huge diff in MSRP. I discovered that they are on different planets in terms of interior noise level especially @ highway speed and ride refinement(i suspect different springs & shocks used for UX). After these test drives, i looked for the reasons of that huge diff in noise level and found that aside from the engine bay insulation panels mentioned in this RU-vid, the door & hatch sealings are more robust+elaborate on the UX than Corolla. The noise-absorbing materials inside the wheelwells also seem to be more heavy-duty on the UX. I can imagine more noise absorbing materials being used inside the UX bodyshell plus acoustic glass where i can't see from the outside. The RAV4 Hybrid i tried later has less difference in interior noise level but still inferior to the smaller UX. May be it takes upto a Toyota Venza to match the UX refinement level but then price of a comparably equipped Venza would be much higher than a UX....luckily, Venza offers more space than UX. I guess if u look closer at refinement details like i did, the notion of Lexus being just a Toyota with a nicer badge is purely b.s.
@codincoman9019
@codincoman9019 2 дня назад
To add to your details: the UX has Aluminium panels and other parts such as the lower arms, better tuning (ECU included) thus better handling/ride, more refined design, paint, far better inside materials ensuring a softer touch, a better comfort, far better soundproofing and sound systems, the infotainment with the touchpad and control buttons in the armrest is perfect for people favouring the driving experience. Lexus UX is worth the additional money vs. the Corolla Cross or C-HR. Whomever says that Lexus is just a badge more than a Toyota is dumb or lies. I have a 2019 Lexus UX 250h AWD F Sport with ZERO issues in 5 years (not even recalls). I fully recommend it (used, verified) vs. the updated UX that doesn't have anymore the touchpad, the control panel/buttons at the tip of the armrest, the black plastic fenders above the wheels. It is the champion of the subcompact luxury crossover segment because it is the most reliable and it has the lowest TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) in the segment.

I must admit AMD, I was not overwhelmed by the other Lexus models you have reviewed yes quality is what Lexus is known for but style was also a factor for me, this one however I do like the look of. It is not just stylish outside but the inside is very attractive well laid out and thought was actually put into the extra front seating. Yes the deal breakers for me would be the rear leg room and the older style non touch screen infotainment unit even though as you showed the easy to reach and adjust controls are useful and well styled. Good day to you AMD! i was wanting to ask you, I was at a Toyota dealership the other day for a transmission drain and fill and they are suggesting a brake fluid flush. I have not replaced them yet and i believe that's something that is done when the pads and rotors are replaced, they also suggested the coolant be flushed and replaced but yet it's still pink and clear so i believe these are just things they wanted to hopefully get me to say yes to. thank you and have a great day!

This is a very nice car. My wife owns 250h f-sport and the interior is very comfy. Not a fast car but very good daily car to drive. The infotainment is not a touch screen but I have never had problem with it as the touchpad is actually very easy to use. The e-four AWD on this car is good enough to drive in snow days. I currently have a 2nd Gen 2008 IS250 (yes, with *that* engines). I love it because it's a nice compact size. Was looking to upgrade to a new Lexus of similar size, only to find they've all grown to gargantuan proportions. Except this one, which is closer in size to my IS250 than any other current Lexus. BUT: is the quality of this one as good as that in my old IS250? Certainly doesn't appear to be. It certainly also seem to be missing quite a few features from my 15 year old car. Do these things have a transverse engine, with all wheel drive? Very strange, which would lead me to believe they handle like crap. Also, I heard these things only come with run flat tires and no spare??

Traded my 2019 NX 300h (midrange model) for an UX 250h Luxury back in autumn 2021, (built that summer in Japan but I had to wait for getting it shipped to europe), I usually do not use the back row seats so it is better for me in most ways. But driving it is so much nicer than the NX was. I'm glad I did not wait for the refresh 2023 due to their strange decision to get rid of the nifty audio controls, was used to the touch pad from the NX anyhow.
@codincoman9019

Nice video answered some concerns I had about the UX. Think I will stick with focusing on a Corolla Hatch or Cross. Is there anything stopping one from insulating their own Corolla with an engine cover from a Lexus and installing a hood insulating pad? Anybody ever done anything similar as definitely a con to the Corolla is noise?

Important fact left out in review of Lexus UX 250h: simple ratchet set and popping off engine cover allows replacing all 4 spark plugs well under 15 minutes saving hundreds of dollars in tuneup at dealer. Toyota Prius requires removing windshield wiper cowling.
