I own a L332 (over three years now) with full service history and it really is a joy to drive. I recently tested a L405 and a Sport (as I’m thinking of changing car) and I fully endorse Matt’s comments. Forget mpg and £pg. It’s all about smiles per mile. :-)

It's also worth noting that the air sus compressor is a serviceable part; every year or two it's worth changing the seals in the pump and valve block as well as replacing the dessicant bag. Doing both of these things will vastly prolong the life of the whole air sus system

Just tripped over this after seeing various other of your vids over the last few months and was contemplating a RR... love the fact that you keep the chat real and actually talk about the car from a real-world-use perspective. Some of the features seem weird, like the start option is either on or off and no accessories... me n my littl'un hang out in my S500 a fair bit, as we travel a lot and stuff like that's quite important!

Great video, as usual Matt. We have a 2013, Range Rover Sport that we love. It isn't as classy or as comfortable as the full size car but lovely nonetheless. I Drove a 4.4 Vogue SE recently and couldn't believe how luxurious it was, silent on the road too! Just a note, when your car is off, if you press the start button without putting your foot on the brake, the car should give you power for radio, heating, etc

The sense of occasion is spot on. No other car makes you feel the same way a Ranger Rover or Disco when you're driving them. The driving position is unparalleled as is the ride. It's one of the few cars I've driven that is rewarding to drive slowly as well as quickly.

Have owned 2 L322 (2007, 2011), 2 L405 (2013, 2019). All four cars have been reliable. Never had a mechanical problem. If you use 93 octane, do a basic maintenance every 12 months they are every bit as reliable as an AMG or an M car! Preventative maintenance are the two key words here! Cheers!
@kevinleighuk

Nice review. I bought my 2013 (2014 model) L405 Autobiography in January. I had a 2003 L322 Vogue and a Vogue in the 1980s. I loved all of them. You are spot on with the way the car makes you feel. Since most driving nowadays is about moving slowly on crowded roads it’s a very comfortable and quiet place to be. It’s my chill out space. You don’t need to go fast as you can waft along in comfort. My problem is where to go next. Newer ones are much dearer and even the latest model isn’t much different. I don’t like the Bentayga (looks and poor rear seating). The Cullinan has grown on me but is massively expensive even pre-owned. Owning a Range Rover spoils for anything else in terms of driving experience, comfort, practicality and quality. BTW the wooden steering wheel and leather roof lining are wonderful! 😉

Great review, and I love the scenery! The reason the ride is 'a bit crashy' is that the 4.4 litre and the supercharged petrol are fitted with the active anti roll bars. The 3.0 TDV6 is not fitted with them and has a better smoother ride, but not everybody likes it because it leans more in the corners.
@HighPeakAutos
@HighPeakAutos 4 года назад
Ah I didn’t know that. Cheers
@Jon-zj2nj
@Jon-zj2nj 3 года назад
Coming from two previous Discovery 4’s, I tried out both systems before I bought my current RR. The 3.0 rolled much more in corners than the D4, while the 4.4’s roll just seemed normal. I couldn’t tell any difference in ride quality and in the 93,000 miles that I’ve done in it since, I haven’t been able to fault the ride. Ride quality in RR’s seems much more badly effected by the pointlessly over sized wheels and low profile tyres that many of them leave the factory with! If someone has a 5.0 or 4.4, with 20” rims AND a crashy ride, then there’s something wrong with it. My first port of call would be checking the anti roll bar bushes 👍

So, you know the issue with regards to the Bluetooth streaming, not displaying the track information? That was going to be implemented, however the project managers over at Gaydon, were putting pressure on the infotainment department to get the vehicle pushed through to final prototype stage. Because these project managers get bonuses to reach their set time goals (they call them Gateways), that's all they really care about. Sorry, I didn't mean to have a rant. 🙄 I just know what happened about that. Don't ask me how 😉. The Land Rover dealerships have access to a system called "Pathfinder". It interfaces directly with factory software updates. Sadly though, the infotainment department didn't release an update for the L405. No harm in checking with your local dealer for any sw updates. I do know that there was a recent safety recall on the L405s to do with the door locking. Just thought I'd mention that.

Nice video again. As scotty says: if you’re worried about reliability just lease one. Or PCP one that still has manufacturer warranty on it.

Unfortunately living on the Yorkshire Moors these things are nowt but a pain in the arse. Nothing like coming round a corner and coming face to face with some solicitor accountant type struggling to control them or even worse the wife on a school run blocking visibility outside schools or the local posh chocolate shop. Proper folk drive defenders up here. Sign of the Times I suppose.

I think you nailed it mate about maintenance ..... people buy a car and hardly maintenance the car and when things break they blame the reliability. Also some people expect the air suspension will last forever ......

On my 3rd Rangerover, Classic, P38 and now 2006 L322. The Classic was great off road, the P38 had a lot of issues. so far my L322 is doing great.

I recently bought a 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE with full Landrover service history after researching for a while, I prefer the older style interior and there is a considerable saving compared to an L405. I absolutely love it but was fascinated to hear you talk about how it made you feel at first, I felt unworthy for a while not owning a farm or country estate but I am getting over it. Love the videos, keep them coming....

Love these videos, especially the Range Rover ones. I achieved a life dream last year by buying a 2011 L322 and it is an absolute dream car. Yes I really love the L405 and will probably take the natural route to upgrade to one when they come into my budget but for now - the L322 is a joy. Like you say, they need servicing properly and mine has had a few issues but nothing major. Wouldn’t drive anything else. Enjoy yours !

Gary Hawkins welll done ! Got a L322 too , petrol ; was very scared reading reviews about reliability; so far so good , best driver position ever feel very relaxed to drive it , very very easy to drive also which seems paradoxal ! , I have a ML Mercedes to rescue me whenever I wd have an issue !!! I will buy 2013, petrol when we know better with the final impact of Coronavrirus ; still looks a bit too luxurious today tough ...

Spot on about the reliability, most people buy neglected ones, have a bad experience with it, sell it and then shit all over the brand, buy one thats been look after and it should be a alright experience, and as you said, keep a couple of grand for repairs because, as with every car out there, things will break, cheers for the video mate👍🏻

Fabulous vehicles, but then I'm biased as I used to work there😆. You hit the nail on the head talking about servicing. Look after your car and it will look after you. We had a Discovery TDI auto many years ago. Serviced everything on the button and it never put a foot wrong, we all still miss it now! Range Rover is 50 years old this month too don't forget!👍

Really love your videos, loving the channel. I always think that people are more inclined to put bad reviews on online car forums than good ones. You’d never buy any car if you went by those types of reviews.

I was almost going to ask you on another video when you were going to do the full review of your Rover, As my warranty starts to whine down, I'm starting to look at the L405 as my next upgrade, my '11 sport supercharged has been nothing but amazing and the only expense was a deductible payment to replace sway bar bushings which will cause it to sound like the suspension is failing. I was told by my local dealer that the timing chain issue has shown up as recently as 2016 models (supposedly was addressed in '13) but are few and rare. I love mine and can't wait for the upgrade in the next year, this review just essentially confirmed that I'm on the right track with these. And yes, we do have some diesels here which are starting to come on the used market. Keep up the good work! Always enjoy the videos!
