@Ian TB Very nice, I'd love an F-Type whenever my budget will allow. Genuinely think the hardtop version is one of the best looking cars ever made. My last car was a Mini Cooper S, that was fun to commute in. Got a few confused looks when the exhaust crackled and popped and there's a guy in a suit driving it. All in good fun! Anyway, working from home 4/5 days a week.... can't complain about my commute either to be fair. :D

@@joshrhodes5068 Being an accountant isn't the most exciting career choice but it's certainly a good choice. In today's current job climate an apprenticeship where you can gain practical experience while you learn will be viewed higher than university experience. It also allows you to learn without getting into thousands of pounds of student debt. Use those student loans for CIMA etc. later on. This also allows you to see what it's like as an accountant before spending thousands on Uni. (but then again uni is really fun so there's that) Hope that helped!

The Audi 80 and the original A4 were the 'quality' choices in their class, then competitors caught up. I still think as a tool this generation would satisfy 90% of people, and it's interesting that you really rate the interior, which after all is where we spend most of our time! Given a choice between this and a new Fiesta for the same money (and the Fiesta is brilliant to drive) I could see me buying this!

I was recently driven via carpooling in one of these B9 A4s. I kid you not, we were at constant 100 mph on a motorway and whilst having a chat with a driver I probably could've whispered and it wouldn't make much difference. I didn't feel a roadtrip at all. Maybe it owes it to a fact that it has some of these luxurious MLB underpinnings which go all the way to an A8 and Bentley... All in all - impressed!

Hi mate, love your reviews but have to take you to task with the A4 review. I have had an A4 cab, A5, A6 c7, and currently own the A6 c8. Have owned Jag XJR, XJ, BMW 3 & 5 series, and also Merc EClass. Listed these just to show I’m not an Audi fanboy. Probably 90% of normal road users don’t even know if their current car is front or rear wheel drive, and even fewer would like to get the tail out in a Beemer whilst normal daily driving! You say Audi hasn’t changed the A4 design much over the years, well what about 3 series Beemers...evolution rather than revolution is a German mantra most of the time. Sure the A4 2.0 tfsi is not as exciting as your M3, but then if you want to compare apples to apples, then maybe test drive an RS4...see how “nice” that is :-) Not having a serious dig as I always enjoy your vids, but the A4 is perfect for what the majority want, and as you mentioned, there are more exciting models in the line up if that’s your thing...keep up the great work !!!

Loganbay Have owned/own 4 Audi’s over the years, ranging from 20,000 miles to 85,000 and never had any of them miss a beat ...any car can be unreliable, especially if it’s not looked after, or ragged.
@DiscoFang
@DiscoFang 3 года назад
@@davidarmstrong4934 I find it hilarious when people speak of "reliability" with cars under 100,000 miles. No modern car should have failures under 100,000miles. I disagree that "any car" can be unreliable. Some cars, the Camry is one, take and absorb a complete and total disdain for maintenance and keep running on. When an Audi does, it's noteworthy.
@jamesbaxter904
@jamesbaxter904 3 года назад
When did you own the other cars though? If you have to go to the top of the line to have something exciting then that kinda highlights the issue... You don't need an M3 to have an exciting drive for instance, even a 320d is great fun to drive!

Nail on head Matt drove a few Audi’s my last a A3 sportback got to give Audi credit for how well built they make the interior and it’s a nice place to be , Spec upgrades used to niggle me enormously for basic things that other car manufacturers give you as standard same with BMW they need to up the game because driving a German built car no longer cuts it with most people who want more for the buck !

Very fair review, great car if a little dull but like you said this is a family car and the vast majority of people would rather have a great well thought out interior rather than something they want to go for a drive in for the sake of it. People tend to have a second car for that or not care about it at all.

I just bought a 2018 audi a4 quattro s line about 2 months ago. I've added a CAI, diverter valve spacer, turbo muffler delete and a stage 1 93 tune and it's decently quicker than stock. it went from 252hp (stock) to about 320-330. 0-60 (0-100kmh) in about 4.4-4.5 seconds. I think it's a brilliant car, really nice exterior and interior and has been reliable thus far. so many options when it comes to these, especially in the UK. the car is great, it's my first audi and it's a big step up coming from a honda civic. nice video :)

The A5 is a lot more fun though. The engine in my car is also brilliant. Genuinely fast but you can get mid 50's mpg on a run no problem whatsoever. One thing to point out is that the latest A4/A5 has now changed to two screens and got rid of the MMI rotary dial and buttons. I hate that. So much so I won't but another Audi until they have the good sense to realise people don't want to go through menus when a button could instantly do what you want.

Hi Matt, I, m thinking of buying a car 017 onwards. Here in Ireland the country is falling down withAudi A4,s. Lots of well paid professionals have them. Farmers love them. All the young crowd are mad to get their hands on them. The younger people will happily spend their entire wage packets on A4, A5 and lately A6 models. When the crowd is going that way I, m going the other way. Seriously considering a Lexus is 300h.A real beauty

Great review as always. Any chance of an A6 estate review circa 2016 / 2017 when one becomes available? I’m thinking of getting one next year to replace my mark 3 Skoda Superb which I use for work ( taxi )

I had the A4 B8 2.0 TDI and was a great car. Kind of regretting part exing it for my Cayenne now..

This car is just like you Matt, your videos are so clinical, your reviews are so well composed word for word, it's almost like you're reading from a book, but you're not, I don't know how you do it for 10 minutes straight, credit where it's due you describe every aspect of your cars with great detail, and keep us interested, just not exciting or fun, like the A4 lol

Totally agree with your review Matt. I've looked at Audi's before but just can't convince myself to get one. My test is, would I glance back at it when I park it up? No

Great videos as always ! I've got a question which I hope you can answer. I'm planning on getting a second hand car, I am quite interested in a range rover sport. A lot of people like to trash them but I dont want that to stop me getting one. If I pay for yearly warranties and keep my car in good nick and service them when needed, am I protected against any of the common flaws ?

If I was to get the 2 litre petrol I would get the 250bhp version it's got huge tuning potential. If you don't get the 3 litre diesel slightly less bhp and huge amount of torque with better mpg

I completely agree with you here, I have one - a 66 plate Matador Red 2.0 TDI 150 S-Line S-Tronic and it is a wonderful tool. I bought it as my commute is more or less all dual carriageway and for 90% of people it is pretty much the holy grail of Middle England motoring. However, it is not a fun or exciting car in any way shape or form - so much so I'm looking to trade it in for a Mini Cooper S in the new year!

Thank you. I do like the Audi but like you I have liked the A6 because I need more space. I am 6'2" in height. I need a medium size car for a comfortable feel. And I do like the 2 to 4 year old cars. I find I don't need all the computer items that keep being added. If people like the brand new ones that is fine. I like the great cats that I see that have been mostly driven and work out the beginning problems that you hear of cars and SUVs and trucks in general. Thanks

Good videos. We agree on a lot! I find a lot of VAG products very boring. Had a Passat 2.0 TDI for 10 years and it is brilliant but utterly soulless and forgettable. I think a lot of cars are this way now though as they are becoming too refined and quiet for enthusiasts. Love some French cars though. 90s Peugeots are lovely like the 306s and their excellent diesel engines! Love the Rover 75 too. Not the newer petrol one you tested but the older diesels. Not the best car ever made but character and interesting and I'm 27! 😂

I got the B9 S4 avant, 3L v6 turbo. It’s beaut. It’s not the most fun to drive, still good and fast but not too indulging. But missus loves it, we use the space for camping, its practical and comfortable. One moment having a massage by their massaging seats, next moment youre blasting around

Hey!! I always do a spreadsheet before buying a car! 🤓 I use it to avoid the usual suspects (3 series, A4, C class) 😄 Years ago I was given an A4 as a curtesy car while my A1 was in for a service and it was so bland to drive in comparison to my A1. I always preferred the A6.

I have heard from a couple of company car owners of audi a4 that they had suffered sore backs something to do with position of driving seat i believe they changed it on 2016 models by an inch or so if its true would be interesting to hear a4 or skoda superb for me the skoda wins hands down

The only practical downside to this and all Audi's - in my opinion - is their reliability or lack of it; particularly on the electronic/software side of things. But whilst Audi are not on their own in this issue, they do rate poorly on reliability surveys.

Another good review. Sometimes I listen in just to enjoy your dry humour. It really is quite entertaining and perfectly delivered. We've got a Powerball draw tonite in Oz and I'm wondering what I'd buy if I won $20 million. I realise that most of your car experience is limited to what will sell off your forecourt, but if you had a good chunk of change, what would you buy & why?

The car is a workhorse, a tool for the job. Tdi preferred but excellent daily driver. Premium golf if you like, the more perfect something is the less soul it has I find, the fit finish and quality of these cars is excellent. Nothing else built like it for the budget

We used these in the Police for a couple of years. 3.0Tdi Quattro. Central Motorway Police Group. Not as quick and softer suspension compared to the 330d. The seats were more comfortable though. Audi only offered 100000 mile warranty unlike BMW that was unlimited. So when the A4s were nearing 100000 miles off they went to Auction.

After purchasing a mountain cottage and realizing my FWD Jetta GLI would not be able to climb the road leading to it in the winter, I just sold it and purchased a used 2017 Audi A4 S-Line, in red, with a manual transmission. It might not be a riot to drive like a Golf R or an Audi TTRs, but at least in the A4 I can put the skis in the trunk and through the center opening and the skis don't protrude onto the front armrest. And with 252 HP the car has plenty of punch for overtaking the Toyota Corollas on the highway.

Here in the states we can only get the Quattro...and all have power sunroof. For the most part we only get the top spec ones here and they move up from there. Lovely cars minus the last version which had a huge oil consumption issue with the 2.0 turbo.
