Should you go to the Light when you Die? | Robert Aho Near Death Experience Part 2 

The other night when my wife stubbed her toe and yelled in pain , i told her firmly " go to the light , go to the light!"

I'm confused. Other guests have spoken about that coming back here is our choice, but this sounds like we just keep coming back? Based on what I know now, I have zero desire to come back here.

2:12 In a meditation once, I was told that I have to turn back and learn to love satan. Which is to say, (I understood it to mean) that I have to love ALL of myself first. "No one is Home until Everyone is Home".

Awesome. The part where he talked about "not adding belief, but rather looking inward at what is" is very profound. What a great way to communicate that concept.

What if "life" is created so we can experience things other than just being. I'm sure after eons of just being the light, we would want to experience more than that. Maybe it breaks up eternity? Just my thoughts..

I have mixed impressions of Robert's presentation in these two videos. On the plus side, I liked that he repeatedly stressed that the timeless light of source is not other than one's true nature. This is a fundamental truth that is more commonly emphasized among mystics and meditators than among NDErs (whose way of talking about the light tends to be more dualistic - e.g., "I am/you are a _part_ of the light"). Of course, it's noteworthy in this context that Robert is _both_ a meditator and an NDEr. On the other hand, I found that a couple of assertions he made tend to reinforce what I see as problematic metaphysical views that are quite common in new age and spiritual circles. One of these ideas concerns the way karma is interpreted, and the other is the way life itself is interpreted. The interpretation of karma as actions from previous lives that adversely affect the present life is really no different from the concept of original sin in Christianity. According to the latter, one’s lot in life is due to the misguided actions of ancient forebears, while the former puts it all on the misguided actions of numberless previous incarnations. Either way, it's a matter of sheer speculation that's as unhelpful as it is completely unverifiable. I would argue that the actual causes of many of one's most problematic behavioral patterns can be found right here in one's present life. This would seem to be a far more helpful and compassionate (not to mention experientially verifiable) way of framing the notion of karma, in my opinion. Similarly, the idea that the present life is a kind of remedial classroom that's preparing one to graduate to something much better at some point in the future is a subtly pernicious and devaluing way of framing existence, and one that is (once again) heavily influenced by conventional Judeo-Christian ideas of human existence being a sort of cosmic error that's put right in heaven (or, in this case, in the timeless eternity of Light or Source). To be clear, I'm not saying that one shouldn't strive to be a better, kinder, more considerate person, still less that one shouldn't bother with waking up to one's true nature; _of course_ that's good, solid advice for all of us! Rather, what I'm taking issue with is this all-too-common metaphysical idea that there's some ultimate finish line which, once crossed, means that one abides endlessly as formless source, with the corollary that the present life is a sort of necessary evil that must be endured until transcendence is eventually achieved. This is an idea that I feel misses something crucial and true about what manifestation (and, indeed, one's very nature) fundamentally _IS._ Alan Watts had a great way of talking about this, pointing out that framing life as a _journey_ is inaccurate. Instead, life is more like a _dance,_ which doesn't have a culminating point which the whole activity is moving toward, nor any particular "point" or purpose outside of just a spontaneous expression of human energy. In this regard, where it comes to religious or philosophical conceptions, I think the Hindu notion of Lila (divine play) probably comes closest to expressing the truth about existence. From this Lila-informed awakened perspective, _source_ is no more bound by any of the apparent forms it takes during life than the source of dreams is bound by any of the forms a dream might take - including terrifying and nightmarish forms. In this regard, I would say that the real import and impact of awakening isn't to _transcend_ life by stepping off some wheel of birth and death, but to reveal that one was never bound by any such cycles in the first place. That said, simply believing (or trying to believe) this likely won't be helpful. One has to "make the trip" of rooting out one's deepest longing and following it to its ultimate resolution. Which brings me to... Melissa's opening question, which as she says is seemingly everybody's question - essentially, why take form as a suffering somebody instead of remaining as blissful formless source? - was never actually answered by Robert, even though he purported to do so. As I see it, ultimate "why" questions - like Zen koans - are not answerable conceptually or abstractly, the way mundane "why" questions usually are. This doesn't mean that ultimate "why" questions ("why is there something rather than nothing;" "why leave the realm of love and light only to struggle to return to it," etc.) don't have a resolution - they most certainly do. But the resolution entails a transformation of the root of identity that renders the original "why" question moot or irrelevant. Basically, one doesn't get an answer so much as lose the question. I would say the way towards this resolution or transformation is to find how that primordial "why" question is expressing itself in a very specific and personal way in your own life; that is, what is *_your_* real question or koan? What is your search in this life really about?

I enjoyed both parts to this interview. Unfortunately his explanation of reincarnation didn't sit with me. I just don't think we hang in the light and then poof we are born again....I really believe there is much more to the process. Thanks for what you do :)

Loved this and part 1!!! Mel interviewed me several months ago now and I told of my 3 most powerful out of body experiences, and one of the things that was true in all of them is the fact that I was connected to the light, and I was the light, but importantly as I moved towards the light I had no control whatsoever where I went or at what speed. So to say don't go to the light will most likely be a moot point once you actually die, and you realize you are the light, but you are not all of it....and you don't yet have full control of where you are going. Thats my experience anyway and it resonates with what Robert says in this part 2. So much gratitude thank you Mel and Robert.

Maybe we are everything and we are here to experience less than everything so everything keeps expanding with each of our earth experience.

I don't believe we "fall into delusion". I resonate much more with Christian Sundberg's description of us choosing the veil before we come to earth, and all of this is a voluntary experience of expansion and growth motivated by Love. And every time we return to earth it's a free will choice as we are all free spirits.

Hmm 🤔 some ndes i watch make sense to me and others don’t.. the main cause of confusion for me is when some experiencers say there is no specific reason for being here, just live (such as Matais De Stefano who remembers countless past lives and your other guest Dennis - who’s nde and message i loved by the way!) yet others say it’s to learn compassion, forgiveness, love (doesn’t make sense if we come from love 🤔) or learn some other ‘lesson’ . Lessons don’t make sense to me either if we come from a place of ALL knowing, and if we are ALL connected in the other realm, then we already know of EVERYONES Earth experience that has ever lived. And it’s all very well to say we’re here to gain awareness (but that doesn’t make sense cos we had that in the other realm too 🤔) but many many people’s lives are of terrible trauma and ongoing suffering. especially those born with Neurological Conditions and then develop co-morbid conditions (depression, anxiety, frustration, addiction- all on a big scale) as a result of trying to cope with society and life. Then they can end up deeply, profoundly even permanently, mentally and emotionally scarred, until they end up ending their life themselves or end up in the justice system and prisons from a complete lack of understanding, help and support from every aspect of society. So how on earth do people like that, have the ability at all, to find this awareness and enlightenment.... 😢 Peter Panagore speaks very articulately about his nde…and his brings me peace and hope for all who’ve experienced traumatic lives🥰

He is absolutely right! The Light is our true nature. There is no going there, but rather recognizing we are eternally there when we let go of what tie us down in this and other existence. I recognized the Light one night during a simple meditation, after realizing one simple teaching of Jesus - love. I was/am not a a buddhist. I kept laughing with joy seeing Robert talk. “We are deluding ourselves into thinking we are deluded.”

The notion that we should not go into the light at life's end is ludicrous. That light is the magnificence of our true self. Why should we avoid our own true nature? Now, as I have learned in clear and no uncertain terms ... our self elected development has by far preceded us (as humans) in realms of higher frequency wherein the progress of self divine identity allows us the privilege of "eventually" delving into physicality or electing another path of growth. In other words, we expand our awareness and divine "self" nature to such a means that then, once developed to a specific degree, (before this lifetime) we may then, and only then, elect physicality or another such realm wherein "what" we wish to "find within ourselves" is available. We develop from the top down. This is how source has grown itself and the Garden Creation we have co-created. The notion of these traps is born of fear but love transcends fear and melts it back into true Source- substance which is love. We are love and we are given the opportunity to know our own inner source of love that is completely our own. At the end of this we find ourselves of love and expressing love in a way that is purely unique to us. No other sentient being shall love nor hold wisdom exactly as you will. By these two notes, love and wisdom, (vibrational tones) God will always know exactly who you are within a communion beyond your wildest dreams. We are a part of something beautiful and that "something" is constantly providing a patience, wisdom and love that is specifically tailored and crafted for each of us throughout each and every moment. At the end of a lifetime our Higher Nature (Self) amps the love and light up specifically to our individual need because it knows the challenge of the veil we have accepted and much of the false belief dross a lifetime can accumulate. The light is simply love calling us home and therein the awakening as to what the lifetime gave us in both divine character and the ability to care for others. Our Higher Nature (Self) is a self care giver because simply put, there is nothing more fun nor rewarding, or loving that one can do. Yes, it is all about us but eventually the path leads us to the realization that we achieve our grandest growth within our relationship and service with and to others. As God does so shall we. God dreamed this up within the ultimate dream of experiencing communion and love with you ... not as a child but truly as a friend. Everything said here is within that light that calls us when the physical journey is completed. Your Higher Self and Soul Self both know exactly what they are most lovingly crafting by their divine "doing-ness" and you're "it". They would never allow you to get trapped for an eternity of physical lifetimes. God would not do that to you nor allow it if possible.

I like Christian Sundberg's idea that we choose our incarnations to experience love and grow as a soul. I think the idea of being stuck in Karma is based in religious ideas. It also kind of feels like victim blaming to think that it's because we aren't enlightened that we suffer. What I think may not be true but it makes the most sense to me.

i cant get over being a very open minded agnostic because nobody can prove anything 100%, but who am i to say people are wrong. i wish there was a church for people like me.

I'm not sure how I feel after watching this. He makes it sound like when you die you're just unceremoniously spat back out again into a different body. That's kind of depressing - you'll never see your loved ones again and you're stuck on a merry go round eternally. If you have to reach some kind of enlightenment, you could literally be doing this for all of time. I mean, who do you know who is truly enlightened? I am open minded and seek answers, I am aware there is more to our reality than we know, but do I have to become some kind of zen god to escape all of this? I'm not sure if this is just based on his Buddhist beliefs or if he feels he knows this to be true. Either way, I'm not sure if I like what he had to say.

I don't know how to take advantage of being a human being. So I feel like I have a big opportunity that will in the end be squandered. It would be helpful to hear more about how to become awake.

I heard from a wisdom guide, 'incarnation is how God sleeps'.

I think its very important to remember, in terms of "why we come here" that real biology exists and that there is clearly a physical element to this world that must be observed such as cells, organisms, and their need to reproduce and keep their species existing. I have yet to be convinced that this place isn't a happen-stance soul factory that came into being by natural and random chance, and intelligence arose from circumstances over time as organisms grouped enough neurons together to harbor consciousness. It is now up to us to help bring this world towards the ascendant path, and help the Universe in it's efforts to exist in a state of expression without pain. I do not believe we need to play reincarnation games because it always will collapse on its own circular logic.

I understand you don't want to bring fear into the comments, however he is talking about how we have to accept the light at death no matter how we feel. I do not want to lose my memories, that is scary.

You need to interview Penny Wittbrodt to your channel and her amazing NDE’s. Her story inspired me a lot.

i just dont understand how a conciousness (Source) thats supposedly all Love and Light and exists in pure bliss and peace creates a Eat or be eaten reality? like whenever i watch a nature documentary im shocked at how brutal nature really is we all have to take life to stay alive and i just cant see how a loving God would want to create such a place? is there something im missing or why is everyone just ok with this?

The ”end” imho is personal. Religious doctrine always tries to tell us the same destiny awaits us all. Robert Aho is probably on his own path that includes everything in his testimony, but the same doesn’t have to happen to us. Also the Tibetan book of the dead is very confusing testimony when compared to the many thousands of NDE:s I have listened to. Neal D. Walsch’s books which have very convincing explanations of life after death on the other hand describe very similar things to NDE testimonies…Robert Aho is intriguing nontheless 👍

If once we are "awakened" we just merge with the light and never choose to incarnate on earth again, then what happens to the idea of a new earth or bringing the kingdom of God on earth- in other words an earth where everyone is enlightened enough to be able to live from love? What is the point of learning all this if once we're "awakened" we can't or don't choose to come back and bring into this physical life all we've learned from our previous lifetimes? I for one actually don't think I want to quit this earth experience for good until I can experience that.

So what do you think the reason is that we are created or begin our series of lives? Because it seems useless at first, to just cast yourself out of that light, and then return to it. Something must be added, or it is actually useless. I do think maybe its something to do with the fact, that this light is infinite potential, but it isnt actually anything in itself, its just potential. Kindoff like if you had all the laws of physics, but then there was no universe in where they were all working together, so unused laws/wisdom. So its kindoff pointless to know all these things or all that wisdom, so you have to do something with it. So maybe the universe is always growing, and we are the way it grows, and because it is everything, it always remains omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. I'ld like to speak with a person that actually has fully died. Because in all these NDE's that merger is always temporary, you lose most of the knowledge, and never heard anyone talk about or hint at how how to create universes or the systems we live in etc.

I don't accept his spirit of reincarnation-slavery. Reality is unbearable if it's not nuanced enough to not enslave us and requires that we labor to be. I have many friends here that do not deserve the torments of this world. I reject all authoritarian spirits.

On the topic of deluding ourselves, it is often implied that we are at fault in deluding ourselves. But we are not always at fault in deluding ourselves. We can be deceived. In fact, the people who are the most innocent, can be naive and be easily deceived. A pure and innocent soul that is naive is not at fault if they have been manipulated to believe something that isn't true. That situation is not self delusion. Are we prone to deluding ourselves? Yes. Do some people intentionally deceive themselves? Yes. Delusion is believing something that isn't true. So now we need to know what is true. If we ask enough good questions, then we often arrive back at a very fundamental question of what is true and how do you prove that it's true. It is very important to understand, that when thinking about self delusion, that we need a way of determining whether our concern for self delusion is creating a negative self view, and a self demonetization that may or may not be justified. That's a question of whether we are not critical enough or too critical of ourselves. And that in turn leads to a question of self worth and how to have a realistic view of ourselves. How do we have the appropriate degree of self examination? A degree of self examination that is not self damning and also is not too lenient? This is a beginning point. It's like learning how to count before learning math. You can't do math if you don't know how to count. But we consider things like "self delusion" before we even know what a good definition of truth is. If you don't know what a good definition of truth is, then you can't really know what delusion is. There are people who are completely deluded, who think that THEY are the ones who know the absolute truth.

Why are some nations or individuals so violent, unconscious and attracted to more animalistic (sense) activities - like in my country South Africa, the rape statistics of children are beyond shocking and the majority of the time its incestuous rape but it doesn't even make the news or cause outrage - its almost normalized or accepted in certain communities. Howcome some people are more evolved not to enjoy violence, destruction and hurting others? Are some people being born on earth from lower planes? Or are some people taking their first human births from animals? Can you shed some light on this? Is there a reason some people are not attracted to the bigger questions of exitence? Was it ever discussed by people who had an NDE?

I have rememberance of past lives, having accessed the 'soul' state. What he say about karma is true.. that is how karma work. What he is missing in this video is that there is no 'fixed' entity even the idea of the Source. It is just the primordial experience or non-experience.. When it is conceptualied as a Source .. a Thing.. the idea is concretised and the truth is no longer seem.. broken into subject and object. The idea of self is simply the spliting of Reality into an observer and the being observed. This really does not exist in this way. That's it !!

Robert is presenting his experience thru a Tiebtan Buddist filter. That's a cultrual perspective. Maybe when we speak of the Mystery it's alway going to have to be through some cultural filter? Even NDE culture. For the people that are saying don't go towards the light well that implies go nowhere, stay in place, that dosn't sound useful or possible, or go towards it's opposite! Do these folks understand who they are working for if they rejecty the light?

Ok, but on the initial question, to be fair, Robert doesn't really answer it. The question was - if existence is really this free, unlimited light from the outset, how does *ANY* "obfuscation process" ever even get going? I think that is a pretty fair alternate phrasing of the question, and it is certainly what I mean when I pose it. This is a big weak point in the traditional Buddhist stance, imo. I have raised this before on the likes of Rupert Spira's channel. I'm not sure I buy into the idea that "light" can know itself without context, therefore one way out of this conundrum is to understand that context simply always was... it was always part of the picture. What we call "life" or "universe" was always something that "existence stuff" was doing or being. Not the WHOLE of what it was doing or being, certainly, but a part of it. Otherwise we have the paradox that a perfect loving completeness somehow "fell" from its completeness (whether or not this is called an illusion - how it managed to fall into "illusion" would not be a different problem from how it manages to fall in general) and then is somehow compelled to re-acquire its completeness again (whether or not it "really" already has it), thereby dissolving all context again, with the net result that absolutely nothing has happened. And this makes no sense at all. So either context (the fullness) must be part of the picture, eternally, along with the light or emptiness (this would be my favoured opinion) or else we are in some kind of "local system" where context (life experience) is being stirred up for purposes or "reasons" presently undisclosed or unknown. There are clues here, in Robert's experience and in many others, but certainly not final answers (imo).

As a Bible literalist, NDE's are not Biblical. However, as a nurse, these experiences are real. Therefore, after being tempted by demons all our life, maybe NDE's are the demons LAST CHANCE to tempt us towards 'the light'. If the light is not God, it may be the demons last chance to steer us away from the real God.

People are out here telling people to not go to the light so does that mean we should stay earth bound? 😂and what happens when earth gives out which it will one day? Where do spirits go? 😂😊
