Should You Purchase a Motorcycle Solely to Save on Fuel Expenses?

Gas prices all over the world are skyrocketing due to a variety of factors. As a result, i've received a few emails from viewers regarding my thoughts on purchasing a motorcycle to save on fuel expenses. Is it worth it? Well it depends. It depends on your commute, your current vehicle, the motorcycle that you are considering purchasing, servicing...dealer or do-it-yourself, how you ride...are just a few variables that should be considered prior to buying a motorcycle for the purposes of combatting high fuel prices.

Those individuals who own a truck, or big SUV now want to save fuel? They're the ones who keep trucks/SUVs in demand, and retail prices avg $60k to $110, so now you want a motorcycle? Please.. save fuel by walking to work 🤣🤣 awesome discussion 👍🏽

Low CCs and Japanese. I bought a Honda CB500x specifically for commuting. I do 60 to 90 miles a day. My oil changes are every 8,000 miles, and my first set of tires lasted 10,000 miles. The original chain and sprockets look like they're going to make it to 16,000, and I average 50 miles to the gallon. Overall I'm very happy. I was looking at 300cc motorcycles also but decided against it because I was afraid to be running at 8 or 9,000 RPM all the time. Jackets, saddlebags, tank bags, etc. wear out in less than 2 years usually, even if you park in the garage at night.

My Super Tenere gets way better MPG than my Rebel but the Rebel has AC! This heat ain't no joke as I get older. hahaha. Great video brother.

I've been riding for 28 years, just pulled my bike out on Tuesday. I put $22 in my tank yesterday, but it's better that putting $80 in my truck.

That's a big hell nah. $300 for a set of tires that may only last 8-10k? You need to buy gear too. The only bikes that may cost less would be a scooter, or something like a crf250l (I'm averaging 80mpg, 8k oil interval, and tires cost

Just fuel related my Super Tenere is way more expensive to run than an European average car. Add maintenance and tires and we’re spending way more than a car. We ride bikes not for cost but “avoiding” traffic jams. Unless we choose a small scooter/moped, this is cheaper to run than a car. Here in Europe average cost is 2€ for a liter of gasoline. So (if I did the math correctly) for a US gallon we pay something like 8$. Crazy times we’re living. Keep those videos coming. Cheers from Portugal.

*when I say we ride bike to avoid traffic, I mean commuting. Riding is above all a state of mind 😁
