Some of you might recall that 3 years ago I uploaded a similar video with "Let it go": • Let it go | My ideal l...
I must say that it was funnier to work with LIG because the adaptations back then were much more creative and diversified. This time, they all look pretty much alike, which saddened me quite a lot.
Now, what is this video about? Well, the aim was to create my own favourite lyrics mixing up existing adaptations. My priority was to make the lyrics coherent, beautiful and above all meaningful, while not really looking what languages I was picking. Think that, since I was only working with translations, I had so much no idea what languages I was putting together that in a couple of cases I placed the same language one bit after the other because it "looked so fluid and coherent" (you don't say, huh?). Only a couple of times, though, I promise.
The fact that I decided to use certain languages, as well as their extent, depends of the fact I considered a certain version to fit a certain passage better than others. This implies that even my judgment on the whole lyric of some specific version little influenced the quantity of lines taken from it. The same goes for all of the versions which did not make it to the final cut. The fact that you don’t see them here, does not mean that I don’t like their lyrics, but that they didn’t manage to wedge in the version which eventually developed. On the other hand, lyrics I don’t consider to be as interesting in their whole, might have found their way in, conquering their big or small spot.
I guess it’s useless to specify that my judgment over the various dubbers had nothing to do with the choices I made.

Your editing is just flawless, those transitions are just sooo smooth, it‘s unbelievable and I really enjoy the lyrics you chose, I think my favourite line was the one about people and nature living in harmony

Well, congrats! That line was the cornerstone for the whole text! I was going through all the lyrics, and when I read that line I was like "this is it! *This* is what I want this song to be about". The Latvian version has the best take on this song for sure

I’m beyond impressed at this! it’s a different kind of hard & patience to making a ranking - I could never make one of these, but they’re probably one of my favourites to watch 😀 You did an incredible job at not only making the end result flow perfectly, but it’s such a well-crafted artistic piece! Some of my favourite lines were: • “I have always been so lonely, I just wanted to protect myself” • “tell me your secret” coming straight after “you’re completely free” • 1:15 - got to love Chinese’s ability to convey so many words in a sentence 😂 • 1:22 - I wasn’t sure where you’d use lines from the Chinese Mandarin version, as not a single line stood out to me, but the simple “who are you” worked well in this context! • 1:34 - this is the line I was most impressed from. Not because it’s the best worded, but because the phrases of the originals are in the opposite order of the English 😱 but I guess you know Korean so that’s why, but still, I can tell you worked hard on this 👏 • “But there’s one question that’s still bothering me: why I was born with this power” - literally! what Frozen is all about lol • “Take my soul” I’m sad you didn’t choose “is that you?” (Cantonese) after Elsa sees her mother! that stood out to me Languages & words are beautiful aren’t they :’)

Thank you, I'm so glad you liked it :D I've come to realise that Chinese languages and Italian have opposite problems in adapting lyrics: Chinese never knows how to fill in all those syllables, Italian never has enough XD Yeah, cutting out Cantonese from that passage was a pity, but I needed to pave the way to "nature and people can exist in harmony" so that it would make sense, and I had too few and too similar lines to waste any of them on anything not functional x) Basically, even though Frozen is all about "why on earth do I fuking make ice with my hands?!", this song ends up being very generic, they don't give a plain answer...like, they say "you are the answer".....ok, what's the question? Life? The universe? Everything? Reading the Latvian line, I decided that I wanted to make it clear that she's got her powers because she is the one that nature chose to be a bridge between itself and humankind.

Come ho profusamente spiegato nella descrizione, mentre componevo questo testo, non stavo minimamente guardando alle lingue che sceglievo, ma solo al loro significato. Inoltre, sempre come detto in descrizione, il mio giudizio generale su ciascun testo nella sua totalità non aveva ruolo nella scelta dei vari passaggi, che era invece dettata da quanto bene si incuneassero nel testo che si stava venendo a formare.

I did this thing some time ago and I must say this is one of the most hardest videos to do. I had to check all the translations of this song and back at that time there wasn't too many available and their translations where almost the same with different words x) But I must say you did a PERFECT job with the lyrics. Every line is so well-expressive, so much better than the original, I especially like the Latvian part at the end. But you combined short parts of 2 different languagea to make 1 incredible.line, that's impressive. And of course, the edition is to die for 😁

Honestly the coolest part of this (besides all of it, especially how beautifully poetic it all is when viewed together) is that none of it is actually from the english version! And that's kinda awesome actually!

I actually had to try very hard on this one to make it different from the English version, because this time Disney must have asked to lyricists to stick as close as possible to the English lyrics, not realising the implications this would have in most versions...

3:46 secondo me in questo pezzo sarebbe stata perfetta anche la versione hindi, che dice: "- Adesso hai fede in te stessa? -Adesso ho fede in me stessa" o una cosa del genere, però apprezzo anche questa versione (che se non sbaglio è lettone), poiché è il messaggio che tramanda il film 😊

La frase in hindi è molto bella e infatti l'avevo inizialmente considerata, ma alla fine, quella frase in lettone è diventata la pietra d'angolo su cui ho basato tutto il testo: volevo che questa canzone, invece che dire solo "tu sei la risposta" (la risposta a quale domanda? E cosa implica il fatto che _sia io?),_ esprimesse una domanda chiara ("perché sono nata con questo potere?", "perché tutto questo è successo?") e desse una risposta ancora più chiara ("sei così perché la natura ti ha scelta affinché fossi un ponte tra lei e gli uomini"). Quel verso in lettone è il più insostituibile di tutto questo testo.

Questi video mi piacciono talmente tanto che ho fatto una playlist per raccogliere tutti quelli che trovo su YT....ma sono veramente pochi, perché in effetti è un tipo di video molto complicato....poi qui nello specifico ringraziamo sempre la Disney per avermi costretta ad essere creativa con il design =.=" Ti ringrazio di nuovo per l'aiuto! Dopo questo video, il testo ucraino è diventato il mio preferito (anche se anche quello lettone ha fatto delle belle scelte)

....I have always considered myself a patient person, but I'm re-considering that title after watching this video lmao. Love this video in all its aspects!!! Gorgeous choices for the lyrics. First time seeing the translation of the line of Iduna & Elsa in Latvian, very original yet fitting to a T. Personally, I'm not bothered by lyrics that keep close to the English lyrics this time, for the latter are very beautiful too. Of course, assuming that the translation remains as meaningful in the respective language (something the Arabic lyrics missed at some points -.- ) Anyhow, amazing job done here; chapeau bas!

I usually think the same when I see rankings X'D I'm against faithful adaptations exactly for this reason: when an adaptation manages to keep 98% close to the original, you realise that something must be wrong. In Icelandic, for instance, they mess up the word order (which is *horrible* to see) and they even make up words, forcing the grammar. Same goes in Italian: when the line is translated the exact same way, it's usually not elegant as it was in the original, it's forced (sometimes even grammatically incorrect). This is why I'd rather have a free adaptation which sticks to the elegance of the original, than a faithful one that sticks to its literal meaning (leaving aside double meanings or puns, for instance), but disregards its elegance. Honestly, I don't think this is true to the original...

We’re in sync then! That’s exactly what I meant by “assuming the translation remains as meaningful in the respective language”. Meaningful for both the message the lyrics should convey and for the structure of the line/sentence and the way it expresses the message. For instance, since I can’t speak for other versions, the translation of the Arabic line near the end: “Be (re)born into something new” sounds okay in English, but is *very* off/odd in Arabic since it’s not really an expression/line you hear anywhere in Arabic like in books or songs or poems... at least I never heard it. So it feels forced. So it’s really the lazy kind of translation which is the problem most of the time, for faithful adaptatoins can still turn out beautiful if done right imo. And sorry for the rather long reply, but I enjoy lyrics-centered convos with you because of your passion towards adaptations/translations d:

Premesso che adoro il mix che hai fatto, e ritengo questa canzone gloriosa, mi sembra TROPPO. Cioè dopo un film in cui è stata una degli Avengers in questo pezzo assurge praticamente a dea, è troppo disumanizzata, a parer mio. Senza contare che per tutto film appena vede qualcosa"Devo usare i miei poteri, levatevi tutti", calmati un attimo, figlia mia XD

Sono felice che qualcun altro oltre me riconosca le potenzialità del testo Lettone, che sono stato così felice di poter sentire qualche giorno fa finlamente in HQ, dato che ho consumato la versione LQ per mesi e conscevo ogni rumorino e colpetto di tosse 😂 continuo a pensare che, con una direzione musicale diversa, Jolanta sarebbe stata al pari di Serena Autieri in quanto a tecnica vocale. Tuttavia, alla Disney Lettonia mi pare di capire, vedendo la saga di Frozen, che lavora un direttore musicale incompetente. Penso che anche la versione Ungherese abbia fatto scelte molto interessanti in alcuni punti dell'adattamento e sono contento che stiano continuando, nonostante la difficoltà nell'adattare dall'Inglese all'Ungherese, a puntare ad un discreto lip-sync, impresa ardua. Infine, una nota particolare va fatta alla versione Ucraina, il cui testo da subito mi colpì molto, e poi Shanis è sempre stata una delle mie preferite.

Adoro anch'io tantissimo Jolanta e Shanis, ma ovviamente non è perché le adoro che sono state incluse qui ;) Il testo ungherese è anche molto bello, sono molto contenta che certe versioni abbiano voluto rimanere originali, mentre molte altre si sono omologate al grigiume generale

@@FlamSparks sisi, ho letto che si tratta dei testi e infatti mi riferivo soprattutto al grande lavoro che è stato fatto dall'adattatore lettone, che ha tentato anche di rispettare il lipsync dove possibile: basta pensare alla parola "harmonijā", non mi stupirei se quel verso fosse nato proprio partendo da questa parole e per esigenze di labiale. Poi, la digressione su Jolanta la sento dovuta, perché la piazzano sempre in basso, ma non è colpa sua se chi l'ha diretta le ha impedito di usare l'impostazione lirica, che lei ha e sa come usare! Gli ungheresi devono per forza essere "creativi" e "originali", altrimenti i loro testi sarebbero cacofonici (seppur rientranti nella metrica, a volte) e avrebbero, ovviamente, un labiale disastroso. Anche il fatto di aver dovuto far dire ad Iduna "Úgy vágyott rá" (usando la terza persona) è stata una scelta che in alcuni commenti ho letto "molto poetico farla parlare in terza persona", ma in realtà son stati costretti, altrimenti in 2nd persona singolare sarebbe suonato "Úgy vágyottál rá" 😂😂😂 disastro di metrica

Guarda, se è vero che sono partiti dal labiale di "harmonijā" per scrivere tutta la frase, ringrazio i numi benevoli che li hanno illuminati, perché quella è la frase su cui poggia praticamente tutto il video... Non so perché sto continuando a ridere all'idea del paroliere ungherese che zitto zitto cancella "ál" dal testo e spera che nessuno si accorga che l'ha fatto solo per metrica X'D

@@FlamSparks la cosa che mi stupisce molto di questo adattamento lettone è che in "Let it go" (così come in tante altre canzoni), le sillabe in più mi disturbavano e rendevano il tutto purtroppo non molto melodioso (lai nu sniEEEEG docet), però qui quasi sembra starci bene, misteri della vita! Me lo sono immaginato anche io l'adattatore ungherese, che semplicemente cancellava -ál e si accorgeva "aspetta, ma questa è la terza persona!!!". Il resto è storia 😂

Non ci crederai, ma continuavo a chiedermi quando avresti finalmente postato questo video. Non era nemmeno una speranza, era più un "se non lo fa le mando qualcuno di convincente sotto il balcone, vediamo poi come cambia idea" L'editing mi ha sorpreso perché è molto diverso da quello a cui hai sempre puntato. Oltretutto per tutto il video ho avuto la sensazione che un logo gigantesco in stile Marvel e supereroi vari dovesse apparire da un momento all'altro rimpicciolendosi, pff x) "Sono proprio come te, ma tu sei libero" "Guardami, nulla può fermarmi! Un lungo viaggio finisce qui" La parte del coro in polacco mi ha colpita fin da subito, ma in generale mi piace molto l'adattamento di AIF. Azzeccatissima la parte finale in mandarino taiwanese: l'invito, la preghiera, la richiesta che nei ritornelli precedenti era rivolto verso l'esterno trova finalmente il suo vero oggetto, ossia Elsa stessa. Ho letto in un altro commento che ti garba la versione lettone in generale: che cosa ci vedi di speciale? La prima cosa che ho pensato leggendola era che avessero assunto un hippy wannabe come paroliere.

Guarda, ieri ho tentato di caricare sto maledetto video un'infinità di volte, ma ovviamente no. Ringraziamo tutti la Disney per _spronarci_ costantemente ad essere più _creativi_ con i nostri editing :)))) Questo layout me lo sono partorito ieri notte, mentre tentavo di prendere sonno. Sai come si chiamava il file che ho caricato? "Show Yourself - My ideal lyrics5". Cinque. *ERA IL QUINTO VIDEO CHE RENDERIZZAVO!* L'adattamento lettone ha dato un senso a tutta questa faccenda. Il problema di base di questa canzone è che continua a dire "tu sei la risposta", ma la domanda qual è? La vita? L'universo? Tutto? Io sono partita con l'idea che in questo testo volevo che ci fossero una domanda e una risposta chiare e la versione lettone è stata la folgorazione che mi mancava: Elsa è nata diversa perché la natura l'ha scelta perché fosse il ponte tra lei e gli uomini. Adesso la cosa ha senso e personalmente un messaggio più apertamente ecologista mi sorprende che siano stati soltanto i lettoni ad esprimerlo chiaramente.

I am so happy you didn't include Finnish anywhere, that piece of lyric garbage doesn't deserve any recognition. Such beautiful lyrics though, too bad that a lot of versions followed the English lyrics very strictly. BUT to me it doesn't matter because I love the English lyrics hohooo I haven't listened to the Latvian version fully so that bit in the end sounded so unfamiliar to me, and the lyrics were so unique I thought it was a fandub lol. Now I am interested to see how the rest of the Latvian lyrics are so imma head over to lyricstranslate now

Ottimo video! Il dettaglio più impressionante è la fluidità con cui i versi si susseguono, nonché la cura con cui hai assemblato le diverse versioni per creare un testo che si mantenesse coerente dall'inizio alla fine- per non parlare poi del fatto che tutta l'impostazione è una gioia per gli occhi. Apprezzo e approvo molto delle scelte che hai compiuto; l'unico punto su cui veramente non mi trovo d'accordo è quel "Natura e umanità possono convivere in armonia". Oltre che deragliare pericolosamente dal testo originale, quel verso stride con il contenuto della scena, con le espressioni di Elsa, con tutto quanto è stato detto fino ad allora... capisco che veicolare il concetto originale fosse difficile, ma quella scelta appare decisamente forzata. Senza contare che, per meravigliosa che sia la canzone, SY non è una scena esattamente intuitiva, quindi un cambiamento così vistoso aumenta il rischio di prendere lucciole per lanterne. Fatto salvo questo dettaglio, ancora complimenti!😊

È un tipo di contenuto che richiede un sacco di tempo e lavoro e non tutti riescono a capirlo davvero, quindi è davvero bello vedere quando qualcuno colpisce nel segno ^^ Se non l'hai già fatto, ti consiglierei di dare un'occhiata allo stesso video, però con LIG, che a parer mio è venuto meglio, dato che i testi erano più variegati e hanno lasciato più spazio alla creatività: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y6l-UAipELA.html Per quanto riguarda il verso "Natura e umanità possono convivere in armonia"...che succede se ti dico che proprio quello è il verso portante di tutto il testo che ho composto? Mi spiego. Questo brano, per come è stato presentato in inglese, voleva dare un messaggio forte, ma alla fine è risultato altamente sconclusionato, a parer mio, lasciando molto spazio a dubbi e incertezze (qual è materialmente questa risposta che lei sarebbe? Lei che cosa è diventata esattamente con il quinto cambio d'abito del film? Una sorta di dea? Ma quindi è immortale? È una divinità? Un semidio? O che altro? Non viene mai specificato). L'unica cosa che sappiamo per certo è che questa onnipresente, ma intangibile presenza della _natura,_ come la definiscono i Northuldri, sarebbe responsabile del fatto che lei sia nata con dei poteri magici. I Northuldri si definiscono come un popolo che cerca di vivere in armonia con la natura e qui abbiamo un latente messaggio ecologista che però non viene mai apertamente esplicitato (nemmeno quello). L'unica versione a dare una risposta aperta e concreta a tutto questo è quella lettone, che dice apertamente che lei è nata per essere un collegamento tra uomo e natura. Da qui, ho deciso di non parlare di "essere nata per un generico (e mai esplicitato) grande scopo" oppure di "questo è il mio destino (quale?)", ma qualcosa di più terra terra come "perché sono nata con questo potere? Perché è successo tutto questo?", proseguendo parlando di "io espando e attraverso il confine (dell'umanità rispetto alla natura)", che culmina alla fine in un "elevati, così diverrai un ponte tra umanità e natura, perché loro possono vivere in armonia, e tu ne sei la prova vivente, quindi non nasconderti". L'intero testo va letto proprio in funzione di quel verso, che ne è la chiave di volta.

Il tuo video di LIG è stato quello che mi ha introdotto a questo genere di contenuti e anche in quel caso hai fatto un lavoro d'eccezione😊 La giustificazione che tu mi dai per aver scelto quel verso e non altri ni ha convinto più di quanto pensassi: vero è che non è ben chiaro, nel contesto della scena, cosa Elsa abbia raggiunto (chi è che l'ha chiamata, esattamente? Athoallan? La madre? Il ricordo della madre? Il fantasma del vicino?)- ma quello si potrebbe dire per tutto Frozen II; non c'è un dettaglio che stia in piedi, le canzoni paradossalmente acquistano molta più potenza se estrapolate dal loro contesto. Quello che non mi convince del tutto della tua scelta è il fatto che io non ho interpretato l'arrivo di Elsa ad Athoallan come la scoperta della sua funzione nel mondo, o meglio: non ci ho visto il messaggio principale. Elsa arriva al fiume credendo di essere alla ricerca di qualcuno, che una forza esterna a lei possa dirle chi essere e come essere. Ma quello che trova è sé stessa, inteso sia come risposta sulla sua natura (Quinto spirito bla bla) sia come libertà di decidere da sola le proprie risposte. Ma qui, la mia idea vale come quella di chiunque altro. Scusa per il pippone e complimenti ancora per il video!

Eh beh, purtroppo abbiamo dovuto appurare che tutto il film è un macello sotto tutti i punti di vista, che non ha senso dall'inizio alla fine, quindi tentare di imporre un senso anche solo ad un estratto è veramente difficile...ma le canzoni che sono state scritte per il film sono veramente dei pezzi solidi, peccato che debbano essere tutte estrapolate dal contesto ed essere prese individualmente, perché inserite all'interno della trama, non hanno una cippa di senso nemmeno quelle (troppe troppe *TROPPE)* In generale, mi dispiace davvero che questo franchise sia andato in vacca solo per poter sbancare il botteghino...il successo l'ha condannato

@@FlamSparks Concordo in pieno, Frozen non brillava per coerenza della sceneggiatura, ma il secondo si è incartato su sé stesso fino a non riuscire più a districarsi (nessuno mi convincerà mai che l'Iduna che vediamo nel primo film è la stessa donna del sequel); quindi purtroppo per trovare un senso siamo costretti ad arrangiarci da soli😂

Yeah, the Tamil audio drove me quite a bit crazy, I must say x) And as I said, how beautiful or not beautiful the lyrics are in their whole didn't matter here: my favourite lyrics for this song are the Ukrainian once, and yet they only got one small passage, because in other passages there were languages that fit better...
