My best friend has the same situation ! My friend and this Japanese guy know each other more than 2 years! They met in person through a common group, went out together, he now moved to another state in U.S far away from her! He still keep contact with her, text almost everyday, sharing each other life experience, sending pictures , even went travel together! But in the end he said my friend is his best friend and they did “more than a friend thing”! My friend was kind of disappointed because she thought that he may want her to be his girlfriend! She told me how sad she was! I cheer her up by gave her advice “if a guy like you , he will let you know”. So just be careful that even if you and that online guy talking everyday , sharing each other life , pics etc! doesn’t mean he will be serious with you and like you that way ! Maybe he doesn’t be more than a friend because that guy didn’t want a long distance relationship! The answer is already in that guy !

It's kinda hard not to assume sometimes that a guy likes you if he says good words, you know. But you know always think objectively so won't end up like you were deceived because you have expected too much from the reality on what's going on between you. Perhaps, he likes you as a friend but then in your mind you are expecting more than that. So, just be careful. Expectations can lead to disappointment.

I can confirm Japanese men are not shy if they like you more than a friend ! he wanted to know EVERYTHING about me and told me all about his family and personal life . He sends me lots of pics and we have made plans for me to visit him ,i am learning Japanese cos he said he's too lazy to learn English . He also said i am his goddess ! . we both show we care for each other . Japanese men NOT shy if they like you more than friend. I asked him straight if he likes me and he answered, Yes then I asked, "as a friend?" then he responded, "No as a woman". Does it means he really likes me? Also, one time he told me that when I will confess to him, he will accept. Though I don't have any assumptions on this and our communication is through Line only. He calls me when he's not busy most of the time video call.
