Thank you EllyMae, its always good to hear how all the different storage systems in cloud or on your computer work, as we get older its hard to remember very thing, so thanks again, Cheers Anna.
Thank you so much for sharing! I had a bad habit of saving my files in the library until I noticed it’s getting full. Do you have an extra hard drive that you like and recommend, it’s so many out there and I know any of them can fail us. So it’s good to have more than 1
I really appreciate your tutorial and I need to go a step further, please:) I have been using Silhouette Studio for years personally and for side hustles. I am transitioning into a full time business and have come across a "storage full" on my Silhouette Cloud drive. I never worried about storing my files before and didn't think about it. Now I have purchased a couple dozen designs from the store and they won't load into my library since it is "full". I did what you said and "exported -User created designs" onto a folder I made on my One Drive for now. I will do the back up when I receive my external drive in a couple days. The issue I am having is now I have a copy of some of my files on my one drive and still all of the files on my Silhouette cloud. I currently have 2,460 in my "all files". What can I do to stop utilizing Silhouette cloud, ensure that all my personal creations are hiding in the chain of files I exported and start using my external library with confidence? I hope my question is clear...thank you in advance for your time. I really appreciate any insight you are willing to share!
If you exported as individual files, you can verify they are there by looking at where you exported them. Delete all the empty folders and see how many files show up. Are they individual files? To clear the storage full, you'll need to delete files and empty the recycle bin. You'll need to clear that error before files from the Design Store will download again. While files from the Design Store do not count in this cloud storage limit, any library errors will prevent a proper sync.
Really helpful! This might be under the back up part, but it seems that the files get sent as Sil. files type, to an external hard drive? or is it ok to try and change in the file type to svg , or is that not necessary. I'm finding with some of my older file types like Printmaster, the new software isn't able to open the old files, and wonder if this might happen with Silhouette? Also which video would you recommend to watch before doing a version change to update from 4.4.270 business edition to one that has the "Export user created files :, ?
There is no need to save all the files as a svg file if you are using then in Silhouette. The .studio file is just fine and Silhouette still supports all older file types. I would make a backup of your library just as a precaution and then simply update to v4.4.554. Found here under Legacy - www.silhouetteamerica.com/software/ss
Thanks EllyMae ?spelling? So glad you told me the number to pick, as i had read so many problems with some of the 4.5 people ! And i did a complete back up before i start the install. It is so nice to have someone like you, that i can trust with giving good info.! Please keep the videos coming, i know they are a lot of work, and boy do i appreciate the help and time you take, as i'm sure many others do as well. There seem to be so few videos about Silhouette, compared to Cricut. Its too bad, because Silhouette puts out an amazing machine and software. But you do have to think to use it , and my engineer boyfriend says that is the difference between cricut and silhouette.😉😉 @@SilhouetteSecrets
Right click on a folder in the library and choose New Folder, then rename it. You will need to be on software higher than v3.8 to have the library options.
@@geminidream4347 drag and drop it into the folder. If you are viewing the library under "All Files" at the top left of the library tree, you won't see the file move because you are viewing All Files. If you watch, the number should go up in the folder though or if you click on the folder, you should see it in there. There are a few exceptions, such as Premium font styles, which cannot be moved out of the main fonts folder location.
@@SilhouetteSecrets Thank you ever so much for all this help. It can be more frustrating when you are new to doing things and it doesn't work. I have given up several times because it made me feel like I was stupid since seeing it done with ease. Now I am more determined not to let that mindset work on me anymore and just ask for help until you find the right person to teach you. : )
@@geminidream4347 keep in mind that videos you watch, don't always show you the real deal. They just show it works and la-dee-dah, but they don't show how many times that they might have messed up or something did not work in order to get the full video done.
Hi can you help me,I have problem with my files in library don't show me write download failed and storage full.where I can find my missing files what can I do. Thank you soo much.i'm new in this and I don't now how to work with this program i am studying now
@@SilhouetteSecrets thank you very much, I did it step by step but it still gives me download failed for most of the files. anyway, thank you for the advice
@bobebobana I would highly recommend storing your personal files that you create to an outside location. The only files Silhouette can guarantee to recover are those from the Design Store. It sounds like the library was not synced with those files. If you do save to the library, make sure it syncs completely before you close. I would try these steps exactly silhouette-secrets.com/2020/08/02/lets-explore-v4-designs-not-downloading/
@@pattyscharff6087 It will depend on how you back up your files.... A back up exported cannot be opened outside of the Silhouette software, does not contain individual files, and can only be imported back into the software if needed. If you use the Export User Designs - this does save the individual files - this will only export user designs - all the details here: silhouette-secrets.com/2021/12/15/new-feature-export-individual-files/
@SilhouetteSecrets I think I am missing alot so do u think I should put them on tbe design page abd save them individually on to my portable hard drive I have a 1 tb one hard drive all design studio and my personal ones
