@@Shdhd2347 they could negotiate on their own behalf or just hire a lawyer. De bruyne used an analytic firm to help negotiate his contract, not an agent. It’s not true wages would massively increase as a result of it, look in America as an example. Why should clubs pay for people who don’t work for them? The agents work for the player. On an average contract, the agent fees from a player. would be roughly 1 weeks wages. Also, like I mentioned previously, Chelsea’s spending would decrease massively even if they to give the players an extra 1-2 % increase or so. And eliminated the agent payments.

@@Shdhd2347 it wouldn't it would lead to more competitive agent's rates if they have to undercut each other to gain business. If you're charging a fortune a player will drop you for another agent that will get them just as good a deal for less of a fee.

To be honest, I am in favour of hard caps as well. It's just an endless arms race otherwise that drives inflation down the pyramid. This inevitably puts smaller clubs out of business and causes hardships and administration for others. Simon speaks as football as a pure business, when it clearly isn't as straightforward as that. @pelseynzenze8415 FFP was triggered by Chelsea the minute Shevchenko left AC Milan to join them in 2006... That's when Serie A started screaming... Note that AC Milan and Inter Milan have different owners since 2007/FFP screams, whereas the Elkann/Agnelli dynasty still own Juventus. Barcelona and Real Madrid only started screaming after the Spanish league clamped down on La Liga clubs' spending. In short, Chelsea triggered FFP when they upset Serie A, and Serie A pulled Barcelona and Madrid only after La Liga clamped down on them.

There are 3 types of club in the premier league - those who are global brands, those who are trying to become a global brand, and those who’s ambitions will never extend that far because they just don’t have the visibility and size to ever do it. The final group are those to whom TV money is the most important. If theyre capping spending to a multiple of TV money when bigger clubs have other revenue streams, you are creating a perfect impetus for a super league once again.

sounds like you've completely missed the point on this one. How does capping spending to let's say £500m negatively affect the bottom clubs in the league? Squad cost control will limit the smaller clubs spendin, not the anchoring.

OFC Man Utd and City objected given their revenues and where those revenue streams come from, but there now protected from their revenue they see as a divine guaranteed right being challenged under the current model of FFP, if Man Utd were not in the CL for 5 yrs in a row because someone else can have go , do it better and beat them to it obvs means sponsor money etc will drop so they will never want that risk. the great thing is about this proposed model is any sensible owner can have go one season and if it doesn't go as planned cut back again and not worry they will get a points deduction for having a go one year then missing out. The league will be more competitive and fun and varied and owners will still have to run clubs well to maintain long term success through managing all the commercial stuff and not just taking for granted money coming in. Simon is bang on the current model has delivered what the top clubs wanted - a free pass and easy ride to win and generate money.

Anchoring is the best solution for competition and more fair than FFP & PSR. If both Luton & Man City are both allowed to spend up to £500M, Luton are more likely to compete than if they were allowed to spend 85% of their small revenue (eg. £100m) and Man City spending 70% of their revenue (eg. £700m)

If I was in charge of any of those leagues, I would be relaxing financial controls enough to allow big names in. English football had a 30/40 year advantage with the popularity of Liverpool and United and a combination of cultural appreciations. But football fandom is changing now. People increasingly follow players, not clubs. If the PL is stupid enough to lose out on the next generation of top players to other leagues because of unnecessary financial control, there may be a price to pay in the longer term, especially with the cultural appreciations dwindling. Tebas, for example, may be a ****, but I don't think he is stupid.
