Had some hemlock trees sawed up for me last year and getting ready to start making some supers for this years new bees. I just love the way this jig makes things faster about putting them together. Thank you for your videos.
Thanks for the video. I've been working my way through your stuff since I saw you interview Bob Binnie. I like your jig. I'm going to build one. I have a ton of boxes to assemble! Keep up the good work!
I used to frame home decor signs and my old setup at work was similar, but watching you fight that hose in all your videos... if you have the opportunity, run a straight piece of hose from the rafter or wherever it is above you down to about shoulder height, and if need be get a shorter coil hose. Less hose fighting means more productivity, just zip tie the straight piece to your peg board. I know it's an older video, but I haven't managed to find your channel until recently. Keep up the good work.
I also live in middle TN and just started bee keeping spring of 2020. Great videos keep them coming. I also made my own hive boxes but I just done a butt joint and glue and nails.
I bought the glue bot from your link. Thank you for the recommendation for 9/16th crown, 2 inch staple - quickly gaining wood working skills but still a novice. Also thanks for the dimensions for the jig!! I have 50 mediums to put together :). It is only a matter of time before your subs grow - your videos have great content.
Awesome, and thanks for letting me know this stuff is helpful. One of the big reasons I started the channel was to give others a leg up. I’m an obsessive researcher, but the beekeeping learning curve is STEEP. I’m hoping to simplify things and make it easier for folks who come after me.
By the way Eric, I have been super pleased with the staples. They don't split the wood nearly as bad as a nail or screw. I had very very few issues with them.
I’m really enjoying your videos. Your Thomas Steely ref about swarm traps was awesome in your other vid! Quick question, in this vid your measurements say 21 5/8” x 23 1/4”. In your comments you have 21 5/8” x 21 3/4”. I think the measurements on the follower boards are different in the comments too. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks again for your videos!
Getting ready to start assembling frames and Supers. How have the staples held up? Would save a lot of time compared to pilot holes and screws. Thanks again for the great content.
Did you have to modify your boxes to make them fit better? I bought 5 deeps from Dadant. I had to saw pieces off of the fingers to get the boxes to fit better. The tops want to stick above the board next to it. Where did you get your boxes from? Thanks East Tennessee here.
Okay I'm just starting this, and have watched soooo... many video's, I guess my question is where do I buy these boxes to put together? I think it's over whelming LOL I like these boxes. and where do I buy the drone cones to start? Thank you,
@@DuckRiverHoney okay Nathan, here comes the woman in me, but I’m learning or trying to at least. You said it shoots a 9/16”, but the link says it’s a 7/16” stapler, as well as in your answer above? Just curious, because you are correct about wood splitting. My boxes are predrilled, I’m using screws because it’s easier on my arm than pounding. However, I’ve been very disappointed with how many splits and cracks I’ve had. Thank you Nathan!! Lorie
Lorie, it’s a 7/16”. My mouth and brain aren’t always perfectly connected.....my wife has learned to hear what I MEANT to say, rather than what I actually said.
@@DuckRiverHoney lol...thank you for clarifying it. Also, that’s slightly scary because my husband has told me the exact same thing. I’m supposed to know what he thought he said vs the words he actually said. 🤦♀️🤣
