Learn this simple silk screen technique with the step-by-step guide and supply list at www.dickblick.com/lesson-plans...
Silk screening is made simple with the use of an embroidery hoop frame and Mod Podge! Simply draw an image on silk screen fabric with a pencil and paint around the outside with Mod Podge. Pull fabric ink though with a squeegee and you're done! Add hand painted details to add even more color.

I looked at five other RU-vid videos on how to do this and you are the only one that explained it right. Thanks.

How does the ink dry? do you need to heat it for it to set or can it air dry?
@Blick_Art
@Blick_Art 8 лет назад
+Viki Tee You will want to air dry them and then heat set the image if you plan on washing the garment. To set the inks, use a household iron on a medium setting for 3 to 5 minutes on each side. If you have additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!

Is there a certain brand of screen fabric available on a bolt to purchase by the yard and also is there a particular type of mod podge that works best? I've tried this before and it didn't work or with the material I used (panty hose).

animejunkie10 For printing on fabric, we recommend the Multifilament Polyester Screen Fabric because the multiple filaments will hold more paint. The 8xx or 10xx would be the best and is found here. Any of the Modge Podge varieties will work. Acrylic gel medium (gloss or matte) and white school glue can also be used instead of the Modge Podge. If you would like additional assistance, please feel welcome to contact our Product Information team at 1-800-933-2542.

+animejunkie10 Pantyhose are stretchy that's probably why it didn't work.

Can i use marker (sharpie) on the silk screen fabric
@Blick_Art
@Blick_Art 8 лет назад
+David Tatum Yes, you can use a permanent marker on the screen. The only time you should not is if you are using a solvent based ink or screen filler. The products shown in the video are water-based and will not cause the marker to bleed or smear. If you have additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!

could you use regular white glue instead of mod podge?
@Blick_Art
@Blick_Art 8 лет назад
+Gabriela Arreola Yes, white glue can be used as well. Just be careful if you plan on washing out your screen to reuse it, the white glue can soften and become sticky when exposed to water. Be sure it sets back up or dries completely before you use it again. If you have any questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!

Can you use this to silk screen polymer clay?
@Blick_Art
@Blick_Art 7 лет назад
Thank you Candace for watching our Simple Silk Screen video. We have not tested this technique on polymer clay yet, so I would suggest trying a few tests before using it on your final project.
