As soon as I saw this thumbnail that was recommended for me(as I love watching the Jocko podcast), that was precisely my thinking. I just thought to myself, ''How to find time to do things you want to do? Simple, make time''. Just like you said, if it's a real priority, you'll make time. Like Mark Divine(who would make a great guest for the Jocko podcast) said, we should only do the things that we're meant to do in life. If people feel that something is what they're meant to do in life, then they ought to do it and get after it, as Jocko would say. There are a lot of things that I want to do in life and because they're important enough to me and because I consider my limited time on this earth to be valuable, I'm going to make the time to do them. As far as I'm concerned, if people even need to ask that question, they're not serious about the things that they want to do in life..
I began sleeping at 8:30 and waking up at 4:30. It's actually amazing how much time I feel like I gained, even though I didn't actually change the amount of time awake.
Same here, except that I have no lawn of my own to mow, ha-ha, but other than that-been using my down time to get some of that Jocko wisdom and I don't have any regrets. He and his guest speakers and his buddy Echo Charles, whom I also admire a lot, start and end my day and fill it with the meaning no one else can. Oh, wait - check out Shawn Ryan's channel. It is different, but this guy is just awesome. Shawn is a ret. Navy Seal/CIA guy, who just knows his onions. He has a great sense of humor and is a master of understatement and a solid guy through and through and - he knows how to listen (have learned from him a lot!). His guests are amazing. You will get riveted. Check out his latest interview with Eric Prince-a true hero and a real patriot (unlike those clowns at the Capitol Hill). You won't be able to let yourself miss another podcast. Great content and it also teaches you a lot about what decisions you should make in your life. Wish you all the best, man.
I try now to curate what I want to consume carefully. With 3 hours public transport each day to and from work I really enjoy the time to read. Or deliberately choose content like this that helps me work on a better mindset. Which makes me focus on better choices. Which reinforces the reading and being careful to choose appropriate content.
Leeroy Majors wish I could read while being transported I get nauseous as all hell, but I’m also lucky enough to drive a car so I listen to audio books or podcasts.
I love how Jocko is the hardcore highly disciplined alpha, while echo is the little-less disciplined younger brother but still freaking ripped type guy. “Do you watch tv jocko?” “Never. I threw away my television, what about you?” “I watch a couple shows.” (Not the actual convo but it felt that way)
@@Nevermore093 if you really want to be extreme, add internet filters, get a random text generator, make a random password that you don't know, and there you go. Even if you can reset the password in the email, same thing: email and password you dont know by heart. Is extreme because its forever, but if that's what you're after, it works
“Catchphrase title: ‘isis gets massacred’, ah ok I gotta watch that. CLICK. ‘50 Cal vs Taliban’, oh cool. CLICK.” - Jocko Willink, the man, the myth, the legend.
Jocko's podcast and audiobooks during my workouts, laundry and house work. Audiobooks help so much when there's a lot to do and you can't just sit and read.
I feel like youtube isn't that bad, it mostly depends on what content You choose to watch. As I mostly like to use it for watching some documentaries about nature or programming videos, as I'm learning and working as a software tester + interested into website development, a lot of great channels with practical tutorials are posted here, from which I can learn from. :) Ofcourse I understand your idea and agree with it, at the same time I feel like using Instagram or Facebook a bit too much, currently working on drastically shortening the time in there, almost cut that out totally.
All I want to do is see Jocko's bookshelves. I bet it's amazing. And every book has like notes and underlining and highlights! I just want to see that.
90% of the channels I'm subbed to are history of other types of informative videos. That will effect your home feed and bring in less random bs content. Most of my recommendations are pretty decent.
Ordered Extreme Ownership this weekend and I got the notification for this video literally minutes after I received the notification that the book had shipped. Given that the question asks specifically about reading habits, I'm going to take this as a sign.
hello every one I love listening to these two guys they make my day every day I listen to you both , love you guys makes a lot of sense helps me better myself
Jocko ! since I've been following you, since I first time hear you in one of the videos I've decided Im gonna find out who you are and what you do as your voice was calm, decisive yet you do sound like a tutor and someone who want to pass on the knowledge everytime that speaks. Thank you. I've definitely had so much positive influence on my life...you're life changer. Thank you so much !
Yeah...yesterday I had lots of homework to do and what did I do? I started watching videos on how to do a cartwheel, and then I got up and started doing cartwheels! Where was that on my priority list? Oh, nowhere? Why, brain?
Hello. Youbsir are always on point brotha. And always right on time. I have a question id like answered if you will. Does YOUR algorythem personally atuned to my mind and what i wish tonsee as content from you? Beause at times, it is almost as though the timing of the videos your posting time and time again are pertanent and potent to what it is i wish tonsee at thatbtime. Also to finish tjis up its time that i get some sleep. For soon it will be time to get up. What time is that? Well that time will be four in the a. M. Until next time. Good luck
While taking a shit in the morning if you're not listening to an audiobook you could be reading a book on your tablet... this usually replaces time people spend on social media. Making coffee drinking coffee audiobooks are fantastic for these times. There are youtube videos which are newslike which I listen to rather than watch while doing these things. Podcasts are big, some are brain candy and not so great, but if you want to you can focus on educational/informational material. I study foreign languages so I've found those down times to apply myself to study.
You-tube has some great content like Jocko Podcast, When it comes to Tech Finance and Real Estate you can learn so much. You-Tube Algorithm is based on what videos you watch and have liked. Because of you-tube I'm able to keep up with Tech Trends, learn the basics about Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, Eating Healthy, Working out Smarter and Harder. Because of you-tube I've sharpened my skill-set and lost Weight and getting into shape. Your time is precious so use it to increase your Knowledge, Skillset, and overall well being. You either DO or you DON’T. Netflix or Kindle? My job has downtime. It is a constant challenge to drown out the ignorant, mindless chatter.I use RU-vid for learning,as well as kindle. Knowledge is power.
People are going to be watching Game of Thrones starting this week, 1 show 1 time a week isn't so bad, problem is most people who watch Game of Thrones are then going online after the show to chitter chatter like clucking chickens to discuss what happened, what's gonna happen, argue with others on what they think is gonna happen. That's 10 hours of your week blown on a 1 hour-ish per week show.
What am I doing watching Jocko! I've got work to do. Get Some! lol ;) I find time to read on public transit. And I use extreme discipline when using my cell phone. I prefer reading books, i always carry my book even if im not sure ill have time to read it. Smart phones will make you dumb! Prioritize.
Thank you for the suggestions. I never used to look at Instagram, and now and I’ve become the thing I used to make fun of with Instagram. I got to take that Instagram thing down it’s doing me no good and I have to replace it with a kindle… Good suggestion echo…
literally everything he said are things I do jocko you're wounding me I just ran like 5 or 6 miles with a weighted backpack and now I'm like I coulda done ten...
One thing about it, we took time to watch this. love your pod cast, but now i have better insight on not watching much anymore! I guess just be more selective on what we watch! so I will still watch your podcast!
It's so true how social media markets the videos they want me to click on.... they keep showing me Jocko videos, haha. At least I'm learning something.
The irony of listening to this on RU-vid. Wonder what jocko would say about this vs. podcasts in full vs. books on tape. I listen to long form content on RU-vid because there’s more of it here (second largest search engine after google). But I rarely watch the videos, just listen while working, driving, etc
My Dailey screen time average on my iPhone is always under 3 hours....that’s a tiny amount compared to some people’s however that’s still 245 minutes a day of me looking at a small screen wasting time
“What are you doing when mowing the lawn.” Well sir I am usually at minimum 10 beers deep whilst mowing my lawn I don’t think I would care enough to pay much attention to audio books.
Jocko/Echo if you’d stop making all this good freaking content I’d have more time...so like, go watch the TMZ or some shit so I can read more books and stop leaving comments on your you tube channel...thanks bro
