Hi, thanks for the information. My potted white champaca leaves are all turning yellow and falling. I live in North Carolina and keep the pot in the garage for the winter. I don’t see any insets and hope you might be able to advise me what to do next. Thanks for your assistance.

I assume the garage not providing enough sunlight to the plant. My white champaca drops about half of its leaves when in basement. If no pests or diseases then just make sure not to over water since it’s getting less sunlights. (Also make sure the garage not cold like 55degree or below. White champaca is tropical plant and dislike cold)

I just ordered a 1 gal (1-2 feet plant) on line. What size of pot should I get for healthy growing?
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 11 месяцев назад
If it comes with container then let it stay in that one till spring time then repot it into a container that is roughly 3” bigger. You can pot in a bigger container if you desire. White champaca will bloom in any container as long as roots are not being disturbed.

Thank you for your sharing info. What gallon size of the pot for your tallest one? Will it keep grow in that size of the pot?
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 2 года назад
Dont remember the exact gallon of the container. The dimension is 19 inches diameter and 18 inches height. Probably around 20-25 gallons. It will keep growing on the container(not as fast) but requires more frequent watering. My white champaca is very pot bounded at this moment and planning on moving it to a bigger container and do a little root pruning end of this year.

should i leave the soil completely dry before watering?
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 10 месяцев назад
You can but with that you risk of getting it too dry. If you plant it in container most of time you can tell by the weight, if in doubt skip a day then water.

Hi, nice video. I have a Champaca plant that I bought online from Amazon 4 months back but it has not started flowering yet. Any idea how much time does it take to flower? I am living in South India
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 3 года назад
I take that is about zone 7b-8b. Give the plant right conditions: sunlight, humidity, fertilizer, good acidic potting mix. If you just repotted then the plant might still be in shock so give it time. White Champaca is not to picky about blooming so give it more time. Good luck.

@@ninelinks3443 thanks for your reply. Here the climate is hot and humid. Temperature is in the range 26-32 degree Celsius through out the year and has rains for almost 8 months. I am from Kerala, I don't know if you have heard of it. Any idea how much more time I need to wait for the first flower, it's more than 4 months since it repotted it in soil and I go check the plant for flowers literally every day 😂. I just can't wait for the day it shows up the first bud ☺️. How much time did it take for your plant for its first flower?

@@ninelinks3443 I just checked the hardiness zone thing in Google and min temperature above 15.7°C is considered zone 13. So that is my zone here.

Wow that is a hot zone. I heard from friend of my in San Diego that her plant bloom alot in pot but when she planted in the ground in her backyard the plant took sometime adjusting. As long as the plant is doing well in the new soil I think before next summer you should see a bloom. ;)

@@ninelinks3443 Yes, the plant is doing well. It has a lot of leaves. I see new branches coming from the main branch may be it will start flowering on the those.. hope it flowers soon.

I just bought a champaca online and potted it in a regular potting soil mix by Kelloggs. I'm in Southern California, zone 10b. The leaves are turning a little white and papery. Is it sun scorch, watering problem or ph? It's a bit windy at night, sunny during the day but I watered it well. Since you say they don't like too much sun, should I bring it indoors under my grow lights, change the soil to a very acidic soil or wait a bit?
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 2 года назад
I think your soil is fine, but from what you said “white and papery” might be from strong sun. During a transitional period(moving from the nursery to new place) the plant will get stresses from wind and sun. Best thing to do is go for area with partial sun like morning sun then shade in the afternoon and little bit of evening sun. Also constant high winds is not good for champaca due to its new leaves are soft and easily damaged. Something to keep in mind white champaca best growing condition is humid, low wind, full sun(only if planted in ground), partial sun(in pot), and acidic soil(mulched leaves, peat moss, sphagnum moss, etc). Your zone 10 is a great zone for planting it in ground; however, I heard from friends that California has high winds. Right now is best to let your plant adjust to your location first, so go for partial shade and I wont recommend using grow light.
