Level seven's map got cut in half because of time restraints according to the game designers. They didn't have enough time to spookify the other half of the map. Same goes for the repeated missions
@@kerlunkus at least if you have a pc you can do mods on the simpsons hit and run and you can have new bonus levels and you can make a fully connected map
As a kid wasn't too hung up on doing all the missions, but I loved the free roam. Just driving around and exploring. I agree that the city map felt a bit generic, so I liked the squidport and evergreen terrace ones the best. I think my favourite was Level 7, seeing all the iconic Simpsons locations done up in a spooky theme was pretty cool as a kid. Good to see another video and looking forward to the next one!
Level 7 for me was the worst because as a kid the LaRd LaD StAtUe scared me and I had nightmares. My favourite is probably a mix between level 3 and 4.
Me too! That's probably why it took so long to complete, although I actually really liked the city map as the motorway gave me a chance to hit the gas.
Lisa's level was alllllways my favourite growing up. Her Mailbu Stacy car with a pink interior was basically a dream car to me, and I loved the LA-esque feel to the map with the beach, Springfield sign, and Krusty Studios complete with crates hidden behind the curtains. It will always be my favourite for nostalgic reasons, and I still really want to own that car.
Agree 100% I don’t think there was a better level that Lisa’s. I just felt like the map had so much detail and I loved seeing parts of Springfield you see less in the shows.
For me, it would be: 7: Level 5 6: Level 6 5: Level 7 4: Level 4 3: Level 2 2: Level 3 1: Level 1 You may have noticed that I prefer early levels rather than later levels. I think this is because when I constantly played the game as a kid, the later levels were way harder to get to, so I spent more time on the first ones, thus they're more nostalgic and I like them more for that reason. Nice video. : )
Level 6 was my favorite too! I enjoyed the seaside area as Lisa, but I was stoked when I got to revisit it in the nighttime setting as my favorite character! It felt even more badass driving around in that sweet Ferrini! I’m 19 years old now & I still find that level cool all-around!
It's good to see someone as obsessed with this game as I am, love this game been playing it since I was 7 finding tons of glitches and doing random funny stuff in it like putting in the fast cars cheat and using the monster truck to crash into cars and send them flying, not to mention the fun hacks on the Donut Team site. Long live Hit & Run
Any level with homer is my favourite cause he's the funniest character! But the last few missions of level 7 were definitely annoying! The two levels with Bart were just awesome too!
I use to play this game with my friend and we had a rule that whenever you destroy your car the other person gets a turn, and I would only get short turns because I would always get in the rocket car
I love your obsession with the Simpsons hit and run. Personally, I've been a fan of the Simpsons for the past 20 years or so, and watching your videos has given me the urge to just binge all 30 seasons. So there goes my social life 😂
Level 4 is my favourite It’s at night, which makes it beautiful, has a ton of fun cars, the missions are fun, and really where the story comes to life. I always love coming back to Level 4
I heard that they didn't finish level 7 in time for release so that's why we had 4 of the 7 missions being nuclear waste missions, and about a third of the map gone My list 7) Level 7 6) Level 5 5) Level 4 4) Level 2 3) Level 1 2) Level 3 1) Level 6 (The top 4 are really close together that it was hard to place them)
@@TheAverageJonny yeah it is a shame. Level 7 is my least favourite level because the Halloween theme gets old after 30 minutes of gameplay, in which I've just been getting the collectables, clothes, cars, destroying the wasp cameras and getting all the gags so by the time I get to the actual missions, I'm sick of the music, the zombie moans, the dark green palette look and the weird cars. I wish we did get level 8 or something so I could have a nice end level without the Halloween stuff.
I thought about this question before watching the video and wow, at points it was like having my thoughts repeated back to me! Great stuff (I also completely agree that it is a fun to funner scale - the game was so great overall)
Level 7 is my favourite. I love the Halloween like world where everything just became spooky. The evil giant donut man where he has his head turning with the green evil eyes, the UFO at the school play ground, the spaceship wreckage in front of the power plant entrance, the new graveyard that has a pond and the fact that you can't enter the Mr burns mansion area and the power plant makes it mysterious.
I like Level 2 a lot. Yes the missions are easy, and the story isn't that "interesting", but I liked that about it - Bart hanging out downtown, skiving school trying to get the Bonestorm 2 game. Also liked when he teams up with Frink - reminds me of Marty McFly/Doc Brown.
I wish the simpsons game was more like hit & run, they really didn't develop on what they had achieved, the best part of hit & run is that you get to explore springfield. they just can't seem to understand what makes a great simpsons game.. or episode for that matter, it seems they're out of touch with what made the simpsons popular.
Just for messing around without doing missions I always enjoyed the first level. It's daylight and has some of the series most iconic locations. It's pretty surface level and I agree with your ranking all things considered but level 1 always holds the closest part in my heart. ... I know the mission. Scary stuff.
So glad I discovered this channel. Was watching an episodes of The Simpson’s other night and started thinking of this game. I’ve been watching TheAverageJonny’s everyday since then. What would be the most accessible way to replay this game? I no longer have a PS2 so should I try to find a copy for PC?
In order of worst to best for me Level 3 - I just can't stand Lisa, crap outfits, boring missions and my least liked map which makes... Level 6 - The obvious next choice, just do not like the map at all. Level 2 - Picks up towards the end but I really didn't enjoy the 1st half of the missions, plus the Honor Roller was extremely underwhelming after seeing how fast it was in the actual show. Level 4 - Good map, playing as Marge is a nice change and figuring out what happened with Bart kept me interested all the way through. Level 1 - Enjoyable missions, best unique vehicle in the game and the reason I would give anything for ice cream with mini pies in it to be buyable. Level 7 - Love the atmosphere, best music and most unique vehicles, shame Grandpa's rocket powered version of the WWII vehicle isn't available to keep. Level 5 - Most unique of the lot, I was shocked when I 1st seen Apu would be the playable character, easily has the highest number of my favourite vehicles (Bandit even though it's only for a mission, El Carro Loco and the Car Built for Homer), has my favourite outfit (B-Sharps) and is where the story really seems to start revealing itself. Other than Level 3 though I'd happily play any one of the 6, Bart makes that map bearable.
Is the dreaded mission you speak of the one with the laser gun stand? Cause by Christ that one took me forever I ended up skipping it to get through the story but I kept coming back to complete it as it was the last level I hadn’t finished properly but it still took me a long time
Idk why you put lvl 5 on 4 place, personally, it was one of my favourites along with lvl 6. Apu was really funny for me, i also loved his amazing Longhorn car, the missions, especially Kwik cash and Curious Curator, the bonus mission where you need to disable the Hover car and then you get it as a prize, the bonus car - the monster truck was so badass, and the main thing: music. I loved all of it. My favourites were Never trust a snake, Curious curator and Eight is too much
my favorite level was 7. if only the map wasnt so damn small. but what's there is packed with treehouse of horror references. also the zombies being just regular npcs who dont attack you or seem to care about you in any way makes me chuckle.
Level 2 was my favourite level back in the day. Mainly because of that one mission where you had to race snake because I found out you could get on top of his car and ride it when he drives away and that entertained me for years
In the gamecube version, that’s the only one I’ve played as a kid, there’s a cheat which makes the lvl 1 rocket car invincible. Doing this cheat makes level one pretty fun.
My list: 7. Level 1 6. Level 4 5. Level 2 4. Level 3 3. Level 7 2. Level 5 1. Level 6 I feel like the early levels are kind of boring to play after so many playthroughs, and I prefer the levels that are much harder, since the last two levels are pretty hard in comparison to the first three levels.
As silly as it sounds now, I remember being scared of Level 7 as a kid. I thought the zombie residents would eat Homer alive if he was out of the vehicles for too long, so I only walked around the place when it was absolutely necessary.
My favorite level in this game is the first one and my second favorite is the fourth level. I like the track layout on both of those levels even though they are really the same, but one is during the day and the other is at night.
Level 7 was originally meant to be a combination of the previous levels in a Halloween motif, but they couldn't fit it on the disc so they had to cut it. The map that Mr Burns gives you is useless in the final game but originally the toxic waste was found all over Springfield rather than at the power plant. The chase sedans where originally going to play a bigger role in the game, in clueless they were going to start chasing you after reaching each destination that Milhouse says Bart was at, in the first mission of level 5 they were going to hamper you as you followed the cola truck and collected the items, in level 6 they were going to replace the police cars that chase you when you got a hit and run. The truckosaurus was originally going to be a boss battle in the final mission of either level 2 or level 6 and the Dinosaur skeleton was going to be a boss battle in the final mission of level 5. A lot of things were cut from the final game but a remake could bring some of the cut content back.
My Favourite Level is definitely Leve 3 the first time Getting into Krusty Lu Studios , Duff Brewery , The Harbor stuff , The Casino sooo much love and soo many favourite places
how dare you level 7 was amazing x3 sadly it was a level they cut in half due to time restraints thanks to being rushed. the game files even have a "level 8 and level 9" folder but empty
I am entirely in agreement on level 7 being the least fun, and for the same reasons. It looks super cool, it's awesome to have a Halloween themed map, but it's much smaller, we've already been on it twice before, and the missions are repetitive. Still...the spooky is fun.
I feel you on level 7 being the worst, the last 3 missions were stressful and a great test of skill/luck and you know I arm pumped when I beat it for the first time, buuut replaying them isn’t all that fun. You’re wrong about mission 1 tho, that’s atleast number 2. The rocket car alone is the most fun car in the game.
all these videos really make me want to play Hit and Run all over again but I currently don't have my PS2 and have a laptop not a PC, any recommendations anyone?
My top 7 levels 7. Homer 2, the missions and the fact that there is a big part of the map missing are what's making this level bad 6. Lisa, mainly cuz of the mission of the fishes 5. Marge, the missions and the story of this level are just boring 4. Bart 2, missions are hard but still fun + clothes are cool, it's cool to have Bartman 3. Apu, this level made me rage so much, but the missions ideas are cool and challenging and are pretty fun 2. Bart 1, i love the missions 1. Homer 1, cuz of the nostalgia, the music, it was fun, missions are fun, everything is just chill in this level
Top 10 Underused Characters in Hit and Run 10. The Mob (Only Louie is in The Game, His Boss Fat Tony and His Best Friend Legs are Absent Entirely) 9. Lenny and Carl (Both of Them Are Involved in One Story Mission Each in The 1st Level But are Reduced to Walk Around Characters in Subsequent Levels, I Think Level 7 is The Only Level Where Carl Appears) 8. Mayor Quimby (Only Appears as a Doorbell Gag and a Cutscene Character) 7. Kent Brockman (Is Only Used for The Television Gag and Is in A Cutscene) 6. Jasper (Is The Truck Driver in The Level 1 Mission Where You Destroy The Bonestorm Boxes and Is a Walk Around Character in Subsequent Levels) 5. Bumblebee Man (Only a Walk Around Character in a Couple Levels) 4. Eddie and Lou (Only Walk Around Characters) 3. Flanders (Equal With Moe and Apu as The Most Important Secondary Characters, But Only Appears in 2 Missions) 2. Dolph (His Buddies Jimbo and Kearney are Involved in Missions in Level 2 and are Walk Around Characters in Other Levels, But Dolph is Only Present in Level 3 as a Walk Around Character) 1. Any Character from The Show Not in The Game (Ms. Krabappel, Milhouse's Parents, Reverend Lovejoy, Sideshow Bob, etc)
Apu's level has a special place in my heart for its soundtrack, particularly for missions 1 and 6, but I honestly found level 3 slightly disappointing. Not for gameplay reasons, but because it's the only level not to have a storyline cinematic, not including the Itchy and Scratchy bonus.
Level 2 is the level that I return to the most. Bart is just the character I like playing the most, but the thing that brings level 2 down for me. 1. The Honor Holler is an underwhelming vehicle and the monorail secret vehicle sucks. I for the most part hated level 5. Mainly for having 2 back to back top 5 hardest missions in the game.
Here are the levels from best to worst IMO. 1. Level 1 (The one that stands out the most from my childhood. This was always very funny and very fun). 2. Level 7 (The Halloween Theme in this level is just so awesome). 3. Level 5 (I love of how we can play as Apu, one of my favourites). 4. Level 3 (The setting of this one is just so beautiful). 5. Level 2 (Nostalgic childhood memories make this stand out). 6. Level 6 (Beautiful setting and cool new cars, but it was very difficult, had to skip most of the missions in this one due to how hard it was. No offence). 7. Level 4 (Marge is annoying IMO, so I do not enjoy playing as her as much as the others. No offence to anyone who does like her character).
