What's sad about this film is that Katzenberg wanted to make this during the Disney Renaissance, and most of the films made in DreamWorks' first era are their more creative works. Almost all of DreamWorks' films would be increasingly childish, and turn into what's known as the "DreamWorks formula", so they can remain relevant. It's a shame that for a while, the films DreamWorks wanted to make were not the more successful ones.

I find it stupid how hand drawn films aren't a thing anymore because some rich jerks think the animation itself is the reason the movies didn't make enough money, it's unreasonable. More plausible causes should be that the marketing sucked and nobody heard of the movie, the movie got overshadowed by another movie that was insanely hyped due to poor timing on release or the writing was just plain alright or really bad (P.S that last part wasn't a jab at Treasure Planet or El Dorado because I love both those movies). Sooo yeah, kind of ridiculous to put the blame on the animation, were talking about Disney and Dreamworks quality so that can't possibly be the real reason. Animating something in 2D or 3D shouldn't determine how much money a movie makes, it's the movie ITSELF and the way it's marketed that are the big factors, why does nobody get that? I mean I'm no businesswoman but doesn't this make a tad more sense than just pointing fingers at an animation style?
@alexismartinez8343

It is kinda sad that DreamWorks give up hand drawn animation to this day. Their hand drawn animation in their movies look really beautiful and amazing compare to Disney and Don Bluth. It is kinda they only made four hand drawn animated films: The Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron, and Sinbad Legends of the Seven Seas since you are reviewing this one. Maybe in the future if hand drawn animation did comeback in the age of computer animation maybe they will return once again make more hand drawn animated films. And this why I want to become a future director and animator one day to save and bring back 2d traditional hand drawn animation on movies, tv shows, and videogames. So what do you think?

Before the video I had recently had finished watching it and I put it up with my top 5 favorite DreamWorks movies. The movie gave me whiplash of jampacked fight scenes. The chemistry between Sinbad and Marina was a joy to watch because it was established early on that she longed for the sea, and Proteus saw that he couldn’t give her the life she deserved to live and let her go and be with Sinbad. Also my signed popped up and I was freaking out over it. If you can’t tell, it’s Scorpio. Description: Scorpio, in Greek Mythology, comes from the story of Orion. This giant of a man was the son of Poseidon and Euryale, and was also said to be the most handsome man alive. ... He went to Mother Earth and asked her to create a giant scorpion, which then stung and killed Orion. Besides that fact, it also got me to learn about a new Greek mythos, Cetus. I paused the movie just to look up Cetus as the movie had Greek mythos vibe to it and wouldn’t you FUCKING know. Description: Cetus is a constellation. Its name refers to Cetus, a sea monster in Greek mythology as both Perseus and Heracles needed to slay, sometimes in English called 'the whale'. Cetus is in the region of the sky that contains other water-related constellations such as Aquarius, Pisces, and Eridanus This movie is has made me learn things. I give it props for educating me on this because I had to go and look up a Greek mythos that I had 0 knowledge about, so this movie is a good movie. In my opinion the animation works very well with its adventure theme and how it had some pretty high packed scenes and at the end, it stabbed me in the heart with the feels knife. So, say what you want about it, but, I’m sticking with the fact that I love it. To me, this was an awesome movie that I can watch and get a good kick out of. {14:50}

One thing that I like about Sindbad is that despite having computer animation involved, it makes certain that drawing animation stays in the main spotlight. While the computer animation is only used for backgrounds, monsters and boats, all of the characters get to have drawing animation like they should. I actually don't care if the computer animation has not "aged well". If anything, I actually like CGI better that way. So yes, I am sad that this is the last hand-drawn movie DreamWorks made and this does fuel my anger at computer animation for stealing drawing animation's place at the top. My only legitimate problem with Sindbad is the writing. It claims Sindbad is the good guy, but it's not until the end that I find him legitimately likable. Until then, he just acts like a mean jerk. And the fact that Proteus is willing to die if Sindbad does not return is too sad for me to bear. But I will admit that I love Spike the pet dog. He is cute and funny at the same time. I say this Sindbad project is not as good as Spirit or El Dorado, but I will still take this movie over The Prince of Egypt.

I enjoyed it. But I did felt that the CGI was a little bit overdone and the storyline was criticized. (Based on the mixed reviews by Critics) But the characters and animation were good. Sinbad went to various script like for eg: Eris was more seductive and she was more sexual in the earlier drafts and it was tone down. This is based on what I read and input from both Writers, Terry Rossio and John Logan. Also, Marie had a minor role as she was one the only love interest towards both Sinbad and Protous. As her faith was to be the queen based on the prophecy of the book of peace. If anyone is interested for more information, I would recommend looking for Sinbad Dark Sexual Awakening: Behind the scenes on RU-vid or just look up behind the scenes of Sinbad.

AniMat finally you saw my request to review this movie I've been asking for you to review for a very long time and now your finally reviewing it. Also can you review Hetalia: Paint It White and Rock-A-Doodle.

Jack Whitty Oh my gosh, I remember watching the Hetalia movie here on YT years ago lol. I feel like watching it again honestly but I feel AniMat won't like it much or get some of the humor unless he watched the show or likes the show.
