Scientific Explanation of Mitch's Voice: He is considered to be a True Countertenor. There are many men that can go into their falsetto voice, strain and hit some of Mitch's notes, but Mitch can do it with such ease because his vocal cords are quite literally just like a woman's cords. The typical male vocal cords are between 17mm - 25mm in length. A woman's cords are 12.5mm - 17.5mm. He was teased as a young person because of the high pitch of his talking and singing voice. Now, that voice is 1 in a million and priceless.

His voice is like that because Mitch is a true countertenor voice, one of the rarest voice ranges on the planet!

So glad you are back. You missed a lot while away. I believe you would enjoy "Over the River". It is another joint venture with Lindsey Stirling.

They also have many live performances in a BYU TV Special. "Carol of the Bells" will knock your socks off.

If you've not seen it, "Thank you " is very good. Done during the first Covid Christmas, it was written by Scott and his boyfriend as a gift to each other, to the other Pentatonix members and to us the audience. A MUST SEE.

My Heart With You is live and I think you will love it.

Mitch is a counter-tenor, so he hits those notes effortlessly. The world is blessed to have his voice. .

I usually prefer the studio versions because the live versions rarely have good sound, but there are a few good ones, though many you have already reacted to. There's a 15-minute performance at PopSpring 2016 with four songs, three of their originals ("Cracked", "Water" and "Can't Sleep Love" and their Evolution of Michael Jackson); you've reacted to three of those songs, but not the PopSpring version, and you should listen to Water, it's one of my favorites.

"How does he (Mitch) sing like that - so natural" Because he is a true and rare contra tenor. Many think he does a mix of high tenor/falsetto and others believe he needs no falsetto. I am in the 2nd camp on that. Both he and Scott have 5-6 octave ranges. Scott's bass is beautiful, as witnessed in Sound of Silence. He takes over bass when Avi/Matt sing lead.

If you want a good live video, do "Joyful, Joyful" they did on their concert. Mitch is amazing in it. This is done on a set. There is a video of the "Behind the scenes" for this video. Thank you. I can't wait for your next PTX reaction.

So, with your return to Pentatonix, I've been revisiting most all of the old ones. And then I looked for Superfruit's "Defying Gravity" and couldn't find it! And then I couldn't find "Amazing Grace" or "Mary, Did You Know?" And so many others that I was sure you MUST have included. You guys, there are SO MANY more you need to watch!! Literally hundreds.

Mitch has a what some refer to a very rare Counter-tenor singing voice. He can cover 6 octaves, all effortlessly. This song is in his sweet spot!

Mitch has shorter than average vocal cords that help him sing in the higher register. Also Scott met Mitch when they were 10 years old and have been best friends for 20 years. Mitch met Kirstin around age 8 as the three were in Community Arts Theater and grew up together through puberty and typical voice changes. Scott did an INTENSE 6 week training/singing in Italian.

I know you prefer live performances but highly recommend studio version 'Amazing Grace'🥺. You will be satisfied, especially hearing Mitch's strong voice in the lower registers. Unfortunately, in the live versions, the Mitch part is cut off, and the performance during tour recorded on the phone does not reflect this.

I'm so glad you reacted to this!!! Yes, it was exquisite, wasn't it? Yes, it harks back to Superfruit, with the Mitch and Scott duet, but their voices have continued to improve, so it's like Superfruit elevated. Thank you for bringing up Matt's work - he gets neglected to much. You might want to check out the behind-the-scenes video The Recording of Evergreen (the album that included this), where Kirstin is completely blown away when she hears the almost-final cut of this - even though she had participated in recording it (and you see arranger Ben Bram working with her on her part). There's a behind-the-scenes for the video as well - that setting is all a soundstage. Also, it's nice to hear that Scott's Italian was good! He was taking it very seriously.

I saw them in concert for their Evergreen Tour at the Target Center in Minneapolis on 12/18/21. I was 3 rows back in the center. I have a live video of them singing “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee,” which is the Sister Act 2 version. You’ll find it on RU-vid under Music Loving Nurse.

Love Pentatonix. Don’t know much about you guys, but you caught my eye because the guy on the left with the dark hair just reminds me so much of my Dad when he was younger. Dads Dad came from Poland/Germany and was an orphan. Moved here early 1900’s. Just made me smile to see you and reminded me so much of my Dad.

I'll just say Some of the best advice I've ever gotten was from my 3 grade teacher Miss Miller . When your mouth is moving your not listening . It's served me well in my life .

You would probably enjoy the 20 minute video of them arranging & recording last year's Christmas album! It's called "The Making Of Evergreen". They only had 2 weeks to arrange & record so they were all together for those 2 weeks in the studio instead of recording separately! And the results are amazing! 💕

Today I got recommended in my feed your Angelina Jordan video from three years ago. Looked for more videos of her and didn't find any, but did find these recent Pentatonix videos and I love them too. A lot has happened with Angelina since you reacted to her. She performed on America's Got Talent: The Champions, moved to America, got signed by Republic Records and produced a couple original songs with them. She recently turned 16 and has vastly improved from her previous excellence. I suggest you check out any of her most recent covers of which my favorites are her Adele cover of "Easy On Me," and the classic jazz standard "My Funny Valentine."

Scott released his first solo song. It's called Mars and I know you bothwould enjoy it. So glad you caught the rolling r that Scott was doing.♥️

I just discovered you. Don't know what has already been covered. Mitch is a Meso-Tenor. There are two kinds....natural, and trained. He is a natural, which means his natural talking voice is a higher pitch. He is also very well trained. Which means he's a once in a generation voice. His voice has been described many ways. In truth, it's just what he was born with, and his parent's encouragement. He is truly Stunning!

Also notice that Kevin jumps back and forth from beats to vocals.......seamlessly.

Love your reactions to Pentatonix! I'm sure those complainers have your best in mind. Maybe they are afraid you'll miss something cool if you are talking. But putting that aside, do whatever you want to do and ignore the rudeness. The rest of us love it all! Hope you get over "not" being sick soon, Marco!

Awesome reaction!!! I love watching you guys. The only thing I can say that would help to make it better is to raise the volume of the video. It's so good to see you back together(ish). I got quite sentimental. Yours were some of the first reactions I watched back in the "The Singer" days of KZ and Jessie. PTX have evolved a bit since you last reacted to them, especially with the deluxe tracks on "The Lucky Ones" album where they include some instrumentation and studio vocal effects. Mitch released a solo EP under the name Messer that is remarkably different from his PTX work and a solo, stripped back version of Billie Eilish's "Your Power" that is heart-wrenching. There are a lot of riches to be mined from just this group alone. Welcome back.

So glad you are back, and doing PTX reactions! Please have a look at the tracks on Mitch's EP Roses from last year, under the name Messer. He put it out himself, not on PTX's label so I imagine you won't have problems with it being blocked. Great to hear you reacting to music again.

There's a section right after they all come together where it sounds to me like there is some vocal layering, so I was wondering if the live version would sound really different, but when the live versions started coming out it really sounds just as good. There is a short documentary called "The Recording of Evergreen" that shows some of the recording sessions for the album this is from, and there is a segment starting around minute 6 that shows the group listening to "The Prayer" in the studio and loving it.

Loved your reaction and how much you obviously love them and what they do. Nice review of the different parts each were playing, especially the subtle ones (Matt).

Id love for you two to react to their making of Evergreen video. It's cool to see the arranging and recording process.

Mitch actually had struggles related to his voice, but not the way you mean. Because his voice is so high, when he was in high school in Texas (not the most forward-thinking state), he was bullied a lot. Accusations of his being gay and related slurs were common and persistent. It has taken a lot of work for him to overcome all that. He's paid a high price for his voice.
