Type r's are among the best for the price. Back when I bought mine I paid about $200 with a 4cf ported box. Best money ever spent on a sub.

I have a KICKER L7 15" and my brother has a ALPINE TYPE R 12". Mines sounds louder of course but sometimes i hear his and im like damn these type r subs hit hard as hell !

20 cents in rubber washers will kill that plate rattle. You can also cut out a few shaped mounting feet out of head gasket for the spoiler. Will cut down 75% of that rattle.

Hey man, if you want it to hit even harder, turn the sub sideways right where it is. The second biggest thing in bass depth and clarity is placement of subwoofers. The more room you can give the sound waves to reflect before they get to you, the deeper they will be. Seriously, it can make 10-15 decibels of difference. Just a tip man, like the setup anyway.

In all seriousness that box looks like it was built to spec from alpine. I built my own box for my Type R 12 and it looks pretty much the same except I didn't carpet mine. port was the same size and everything.

That sub is capable of twice the power that amp can push.

No offense but a Dual could flex that car. I bet you got that gain all the way up and bass boost on. You can't hit them lows at all though.

First I applaud you for putting on “Put On” By Young Jeezy. That song has the deepest bass of all time and it’s perfect for testing subwoofers. Second..that’s the cleanest single box I’ve seen. I'm getting similar results on my single type-R 12. 1.5^3 sealed box and massive audio d1200 (700rms). Tried several subs, this beats my HX2, CVR, and the W3 too!

Might wanna think about relocating your amp, don't think being mounted in the direct sunlight helps the overall performance. 2 channel amps are prone for overheating. I always go Class D or mono channel amp for my subwoofers, bang hard all day and amp is cool to the touch...

Might wanna tune the box a tad lower, get some deadener, take out the rears, equalize the bass and fix that rear view mirror c;

I been looking into just getting one type r 12 with a strong amp & dynamating the trunk.. my uncle has 2 in a box inside his basement and the shit literally vibrates the entire house lol so I know just one in a car is more than enough..

I have two Alpine type r in my 2013 Camry with a ported box and 1000.1 alpine mono amp. It's really loud. Until I get door speakers with an amp I can even turn the power up, cant hear the words. The stock stereo is actually really nice and pretty loud by most standards. I really dont know if I want my system any louder. Anyway, they are great subs, never had a problem with them.

you could eliminate a good amount of your rattle if you put a piece of foam behind your license plate. then your nice sounding system won't make your piece of shit car sound so shitty.. just an FYI

god this things sounds disgusting, you should set it up for deep bass , since your car cant handle the constant base, it its making a rattle noice which makes it sound horrible.

You might want to invest on some dynamat and relocate the amp to somewhere other than on top of the box. (Vibrations or heat aren't good for electronics)

i bought my 15" type r to be used in home, for the heck if it i tried putting it in the monte carlo, i couldnt get it in the back seats because it and the box was to big, and when i tried going straght in the trunk i had to wiggle it for like 20min and had less then 1" of clearance to close the trunk, and has far back as it could go i only had 2" to the trunk lock. that kinda sucks because i know the car well and it sounds best having the subs as close to the back seats as possible ports firing toward trunk. i mean dont get me wrong, it still slammed, but i know it could be allot louder witch same power.

I just got two 12in Alpine Type R subwoofers to put in the back of my Honda Passport. All I need is an amplifier working on getting one today seeing how much you get out of one is exciting me because I have two😂

I just bought a type R today for $90 as a replacement for a lanzar optidrive 1233d that I blew. I have it hooked up to a hifonics brutus gamma 3300.1, I have the gain turned down quite a bit because the brutus is around 2700 watts rms at 1 ohm, but the type R sounds pretty good. Mine isn't flexin my vehicle like that though... I wish lol.

I ran across two e10's in a box with a fosgate amp bridged they are fucking nasty as hell I've had 4 12's in a mustang that would pound but they are pretty bad ass the vt hammer competition 12 was the badest I had
