Welcome to episode 2 of the Airbus Training series, In this video we pick up where we left off in video 1 "ready for pushback." We will now push off the gate start up and head to the runway.
In this episode we will cover
- Hydraulics
-Single Engine Taxi
-Engine Starting
-Flight control checks
The goal of this lesson is to give you a thorough explanation on why its recommended to start the #1 engine first during a single engine taxi, and show you how to properly execute this technique and get the airplane ready for takeoff.

In Vueling when we do single engine depp we set crossbleed to open and pack 2 off additionally regarding the apu bleed the main reason you don't want to use it, is bc you will suck engine's exhaust which is not nice. Also it is important to crhono the time engine1 and 2 have run before take off

Thanks for the great video again. Do you have a good link for a set of checklists or abbreviated checklists that could be printed? Or would you consider making some? Or am I being daft and they are all in the sim? Not used the 320 much yet and watching your videos in preparation.

So what’s the reason why you still do eng 1 first even if it’s not a single engine taxi? The reason in Europe for number 2 start first seems to be to have the parking brake immediately available after pushback is complete incase the other engine hasn’t been started yet

Does the single engine taxi procedure for MSFS 2020 on this video apply also for FSX?
@vedikjayaraj8351

might be a long answer to this, but how do your usual flight shifts work? do you go to a destination and fly back the same day? or after a few days?

@mr.martintorres5804

MSFS does have a built in checklist. The flow may be different from this video mainly because real world pilots typically follow their own airlines procedures.

nice video: 1) Can you get the ATIS from VATSIM ? 2) is it normal that with 2 engines taxi at 19% N1; the plane accelerates like crazy ? seems unrealistic 3) is it normal that with 1 engine taxi, you need over 35-40% N1 to accelerate and over 30% to maintain the speed 4) the engines need at least to run for 2 min at least before setting TO power, correct ? 5) for 1 taxi engine aftert landing, the engine needs a cooldown of 3 min minimum before shutting them ? thanks :)

How do you know when to start eng 2 in different airports
@tomstravels520

Typically if you’re going to taxi less than 10-15 mins you’d start both engines

What is the purpose of the single engine taxi when we increase ENG1 degradation so that it does not warm up well before runway?
@tomstravels520
@tomstravels520 6 месяцев назад
Saves fuel. And you start the second engine so that it runs for at least 2 minutes to warm up
@leoarjuncrasto
@leoarjuncrasto 2 года назад
What is the limitation of single engine taxi for CEO and NEO? 1)Is there a limitation on Gross weight? 2) is there a time limitation as in, we can't do single engine taxi if the airplane was on ground for 2 hrs or 5hrs
@tomstravels520
@tomstravels520 6 месяцев назад
Not on slippery runways, must be done to allow for second engine to have about a 2 minute time to run after start, not on taxiways with any slopes and not for very high gross weights. And if it’s less than a 10 minute taxi time not much point doing it
@thomascrotti311

How is it with the fuel, how can I balance it, when ENG 1 burnes more?
@tomstravels520

It would take quite a while for the balance to become a concern but you can always cross feed if it does

So you always do 1 engine taxi? I can only assume because of the size of the airports
@schillaci5590
@schillaci5590 6 месяцев назад
@@tomstravels520 Generally at the larger airports or where you are parked on one side and the departure runway is on the other side of the airport. Also for taxiing in. Some times the gate is occupied and you have to wait. Might as well shut one down.

No more than 40% N1 (not sure what EPR equivalent is)
