Good review, great set, but sorry to hear about the issues with it. I'd love to see a follow up video showing how successful you were with fixing the issues with the figure, and little bits of advice on how to do it.
"We Need Megazord Power Now" lol... All kidding aside I love your reviews and the fact that you not only know when to point out a problem but how to fix it.
Good review, I appreciate your input on this set because I was very curious about quality control. It seems like it is worth picking up and fixing. Thanks,
Good review. Once the issues are fixed you get a very interesting and relatively cheap combiner team. This team also has a secret Beast Mode for the combined form that looks really terrific.
I only paid 70$ for mine, and it still wasn't worth it. I just wish I had seen this review before I wasted the money. The only thing I'm using from this set right now are the 'Wolverine' claws on the backs of the combined mode hands. I'm using those as missile pods for my Generations Jetfire/Skyfire. The combined mode hands themselves actually look fairly decent as hands for my Combiner Wars combiner.
Might wanna try clear nail polish to tighten up those joints; It'll get into those smaller areas better than glue, won't get sticky, and dries in a couple minutes. It's basically liquid plastic.
Brachio and Bronto both exist. Brachio had a longer neck. Bronto had a shorter neck and existed during the Permian Era. It evolved into the Jurassic Apatosaur
List of possible names: Stegosaurus: spikeback Apatosaurus: neckbreaker Triceratops: Triple ram Pterodactyl: screecher T.rex: savage Combiner: feralicus
In America, this set is under the name, “Deformative Series”, or Deformation, either or, I think they got the name right. I like to call them, the Rejected figures, since they’re packed in Age of Extinction boxes with the actual dinobots on the box.
After that intro music I really expected Balt to say: Hello everybody, my name is Baltmatrix and today we're gonna be reviewing.... ( if you don't get the reference a youtuber called Inthelittlewood uses that intro music too)
The older material was reexamined and Brontosaurus was determined to be valid, undoing the previous merging of Brontosaurus and Apatosaurus. That allowed new material to be assigned to Brontosaurus.
Its not a mew dino, its a new Brontosaurus foisil(before there was only one, so they reclassefied it as an Apatosaurus thinking it was a missidentefied fosil), and now with that new fossil they compared it to the old one and discovered Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus are indeed two difrent species
FYI, the line is NOT called Star Cats. That's a commonly repeated mistake by the TFW2005 message board, because someone titled the thread that, and everyone has been repeating that. The name of the line is "Star Rescue Team". the pilot of the fire truck vehicle is a guy named "Star Cat", but he's just one guy on the show.
***** In case you were curious, the dinosaurs acutally have names on the boxes. For instance the T-Rex is called "Ba Wang Long" which translates as "The King Dragon", and the Bontrosaurus (he's called a Brontosaurus in the show) is called "Lei Long" which means "Thunder Dragon".
He is right a Brontosaurus is not a real dinosaur. It was actually a mess up between two dinosaurs, the Brachiosaurus(Jurassic Park) and a Diplodocus. The dinobot in the video is more of an Apatosaurus just by the way it stands and the length of the neck is shorter.
I've always dreamed of a Dinobots/tron combiner, thank TFC for ruining my dream lol. I'm surprise all the tail shields don't combine to make a giant shield, nonetheless great review Balt.
hasbro saw this and was like we can do worse! and then volcanicus was born! all joking aside, unless you have the upgrade kit volcanicus loos really funny with his huge shoulders
+baltmatrix now correct me if im wrong, from 17:40 till about 17:50 is that your wife whispering in the background followed by a squeaky door hinge and, a slightly quiet door close? Yes, I have very, very good, superb hearing capabilities Lol 😂😂😂 just wondering my friend other than that, great review as always I'm a big fan! keep up the good work!
As I read on the Chinese forum, this toy was initially designed by TFC, but the project was interrupted and then resumed by Star Cats. That's why we see some really nice designs with poor execution and lots of QC issues.
Well, the Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus are the same dinosaur, but got given different names by different archaeologists. Funnily enough, Apatosaurus means 'Deceptive Lizard'. Fitting name, eh?
@@freddywilliams9837 It was first named Bronto Saurus cause of big stompiness, than other bigger ones got discovered and so was renamed into Apatosaurus instead.
Solid review. I was interested in picking this guy up due to the low price and it being a dino combiner but after watching your vid NO THANKS! I am going to wait until fans project, unique toys, or mmc make a dino combiner.
You can find them online for about 40 bucks with free shipping. It's just about $8 each. They don't have issues you can't easily fix and they make for a very cool display piece.
The Triceratops and (supposedly) the Brachiosaurus/Brontosaurus don't exist, both are apparently fake. I'll be holding a "R.I.P. Childhood" party soon, there will be cake!
hello, to make the combined hand have a tighter socket, you can put a light coat of clear nail polish on it or some glue. I went through that with the x transbots powerglide and it really pissed me off.
20:00 not only did you get 2 left horns for the triceratops but it looks like for the hip they are the same side. it looks like one of them should have had pegs to connect together. they are neat but a number of QC issues, at least on the set you got
I have this set, but the dinos are different colors. I have issues with all of the wrist, and ankle joints. The hips on mine actually fold down. But the freaking Tyranno head, being used in "Knockofficus" mode is what really bothers me. Overall I enjoy it, looks good with CW Volcanicus and Titans Return Trypticon.
The action figure you are presenting is a brontosaurus. Brontosaurus does exist. The differences is that brachiosaurus is larger and heavier. Brontosaurus is smaller and lighter or moderate.
Westen's Toy Reviews I believe Amazon, even if your comment was a year ago, the Apatosaurus is painted as “Dinobot Slash”, and it was under “Deformative” series. Only if you really don’t have even one dinobot still, look online.
It existed but until 1970 its fossil skeleton was made with the wrong skull. So when the found the actual skull it was given a different name apatosaurus
***** You can fold Grimlock's legs down and in, you just have to work at it. Trust me, you won't break the legs. I've had this set for a couple of weeks. When you do it once or twice, they will loosen up.
why such a problem with Brontosaurus? sure the Dinosaur doesn't exist but you could just say Brachiosaurus. Still the sauropod dino would still be an Apatosaurus. as for Triceratops, its often stood with the hind legs straight while the front legs are spread out and splayed like a lizard.
Pteranodon have no teeth, pterodactyls do have teeth. The Triceratops looks like a 2-D Metroid enemy from the side in beast mode when displayed like that.
Nope, the thing is, before there was only 1 Brontosaurus fosil, so paleontologists tougth it was a misidentefied Apatosaurus, but recently a new fosil was discovered and it showed that Brontosaurus and Apatasaurus were indeed two difrent species
Brontosaurus may actually have been distinct from Apatosaurus. student.societyforscience.org/article/there-really-was-brontosaurus-study-claims Brachiosaurus is a separate species. Has a head snorkel.
