The Sachatamia Lodge in Mindo, Ecuador is a fabulous place to see hummingbirds feeding from hummingbird feeders and many nectar-rich flowers. They also have fruit feeders for other birds, so this place is wonderful for all birders. This is the site of our 24/7 live feeder cam where you can see sixteen species of hummingbirds in the day and fruit bats feeding from the feeders at night

GORGEOUS! Wish i had the means and the freedom to go all over the world to see these fascinating special little creatures. I have about 4 here in Texas, ruby throat and black chinned. But i'm lucky enough that i even get to experience the few i have.

What a B E A utiful experience to have so close to the equator with so many of God's creations. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful video. Here in the northeast we only get the Ruby Throated Hummingbird, but I am grateful to enjoy them every year from mid May till mid September.

My highest rating usually is 5 of Mo's roses. You get 10 for this video. Hardly any videos give the bird's IDs, and this one shows perfect specimens, even male and female. The lodge is making me very jealous.

As I'm sitting here watching my own feeders and always amazed by them, I can't imagine how exciting that would be. And what a beautiful lodge. Everything's so green and pretty. Love your candidness lol. Those guys always seem to take such good care of you. Even though I saw your still shots, I can't get the proper name for that big beautiful blue hummer with the long tail. My favorite!! Thanks once again for sharing all of your adventures with us Carole. We've learned and enjoyed SO MUCH❤️

Carole, in my comment I didn't mention the feeders in back of the lodge. It is really enjoyable to watch those feeders with so many species visiting! And also fun at night to watch the bats! Steve is really good at helping to learn the many different species

So cool! Question: do you have any tips for keeping the bees off your feeders? Having an awful time this season; running off the poor birds constantly. 🥺
@HummingbirdSpot
@HummingbirdSpot Год назад
Bees actually prefer flowers to feeders. Plant herbs with tiny flowers like marjoram, thyme, etc. and put out water dishes with stones in them for the bees to land on. Bees need flower nectar and water to cool the hive and thin the honey. If they don't have a water source they will go for your feeders.

One of the most magical moments of my life was being escorted up a driveway by about 10-12 hummers once. We thought they were bumblebees until we got a good look at them. The guy that owned the place had been feeding them for years & there was a regular colony of them. They were green & sleek & very agile.🙂

Wow what a break taking video, I absolutely love hummingbirds and we used to have them in our back yard in S. California. But now we live back in New Zealand at the bottom of the South Island, and there are no hummingbirds...bummer...I miss them. Bronwyn New Zealand 🇳🇿🇳🇿
