Gorgeous ... I love the way you 'scribbled' in the sky .. gives me an exercise to work on my own sky attempts (clouds elude me)

Pure Watercolour Patrick Ley-Greaves Thanks for sharing so much with you tube. The mind of watercolor just did a showdown of cheap v good quality, he is like you an Arches man. Result I bought an Arches block last summer treat but did not feel good enough. I took the plunge today, unbelievable difference but I was able to glaze 3 layers without lifting which has been a big issue, I still need practice but today 👍.

Thank you Margaret. The limited palette makes life a lot easier and takes some of the stress out of painting. I am a lover of impressionism also I think that shows in my work :)

Your videos are so inspiring! I'm fairly new to watercolour and have felt frustrated with not getting the results I wanted, so I sort of dived more into developing my drawing skills instead. But watching your videos is bringing the fun back in watercolour, and this morning I did a painting in my sketchbook that I really liked! I am in Northern Norway and live on an island, and that I find that many of your videos have very relevant content to what I'll be painting. Thanks so much for putting these together!

Where you live sounds inspirational. You seem to have a very natural creative mind. It was great to have you in the live stream this evening. Please come over to Pure Watercolour and be part of our group. I lived on an island for many years I think that’s why you relate to my work, much of my work is inspired by island life. :) Keep painting I’m happy to help if I can .

I took a watercolour class when I was around 12, but at some point in my late teens I got so afraid of failing that I put it away. Now I am 36 and I am finally not afraid anymore! When I painted yesterday I used one of my own photos, and I think it helped that I had been in the place and knew the atmosphere. I've been using Pexels photos before as it's still too cold to get outside to paint. However, it seems I'm able to connect more artistically with what I know and see, so learning how to paint boats and beaches and stormy clouds seems like a good place to start. I found your group and your courses at Udemy! :)

I spent 20 years living on an island a tiny one so I can identify with island life. Definitely knowing a place makes it easier to paint, thats why I enjoy En Plein air painting the most. Wish Spring would arrive so I could paint outside. The one thing that holds most artists back is the fear of failing. All we have to do is keep in mind its just a bit of paper (expensive piece of paper) and go for it, that way you will learn a lot quicker.

Thank you I appreciate your continued support. I was a bit disappointed with the video quality I bought a new camera to shoot this canon 750d but felt it didn't give as good quality as my old canon g7x mark 2. Took the camera back today to the shop so still hunting for a good all round camera for video and stills. Love the Chinese brush great for many different applications.

@MPLangerArt 6 лет назад
Really? I'm surprised to hear you say that about your video results. I actually thought this video looked better. I did notice that the light brightened during the taping but assumed that the day outside the window had brightened. I thought there was better separation of tones and your exposure was better. I used to be a professional photographer so I hope you don't mind me taking the liberty of saying these things. Can you tell me what you were disappointed with? These days I'm using the Canon EOS Rebel t7 and I'm really happy my results. It's an entry level camera like the 750 but it has a hot shoe so I can attach a mike and get better audio. If I can be of any help of all in this area please let me know. And thanks again for a great video! Patricia
@PatrickLeyGreaves
@PatrickLeyGreaves 6 лет назад
You have got me thinking now. I took the camera back as I thought it wasn't as good as my others videos It was a lot easier to use during filming videos than the G7x due to the size. What I will do is watch the video again and do some side by side comparisons. Then I will be back in touch I will have some questions :) Thanks Patricia.

Yep, watercolour dries a lot lighter. You always need to make colour at least 25% to allow for it drying lighter. Thanks for commenting and watching my channel.

Nice but I did not like how the mountain looks ! Maybe too dark and its shape is a bit nit real
@PatrickLeyGreaves
@PatrickLeyGreaves 6 лет назад
Thanks Sahar for your comment. Possibly could be a bit dark but I can vouch for the shape, its not really a mountain its a little island cut off from the sea at high tide. Its got house on the top that is like a mini castle. Its called St Michales Mount and is located in Penzance Cornwall
