Patrick - I enjoy rewatching all of your videos! At around 22:20 you mention that you wouldn't otherwise choose the three colors you did to paint this scene, as was the challenge. I was thinking how fun it would be to see you repaint this scene using your full palette and any color you feel would make sense. I think the comparison of this painting and a new, unconstrained painting would be very interesting indeed.
Thank you so much, Patrick. That was fascinating to watch. Just goes to show what you can do with a limited colour palette. I love your loose, relaxed style.
Is your Windsor blue the red shade or green? I use Da Vinci as my phthalo blue the green shade and it looks much cooler in temperature than yours. Awesome demo of a minimal palette Patrick!
Just loved watching you paint this scene Patrick. What can be achieved with 3 colours. Am going to see if I can find a stick like your's in the back shed.
Thank you for that lovely, and very useful, video. Fascinating how with just three colours you produced so many variations. I can't seem to get so many different hues. More care perhaps.
I made a go at painting it. I attempted using only three colors - Winsor & Newton professional. I can see little difference between the professional and the Cotman honestly. I will try to send it to you for a critique.
I have not seen the painting yet Victoria when you can pop into PW and make sure you send me a message with a link to where you post the painting I would be happy to take a look
Pure Watercolour Patrick Ley-Greaves I loaded onto Instagram and at #worldwatercolormonth2018. I couldn't get my password to work on PW for some reason.
I actually found it easier with only three colours! I've been getting lots of praise from friends about my paintings done with your tutorials and two friends have now decided to start up too! Two people have requested I do a beach scene ( again, from your video ) for them to frame. Are you ok with this Patrick?
