I like that you orbit around. Artists constantly adjust their view to conceptualize their work. I have quick eyes, so I am keeping up. Super video series.
Whenever I tye in the new measurement nothing hapens!! so frustrating, I've only gotten it to work once, and that was dumb luck. should I be clicking and holding? Whats the dealio?
How can you change the size a line WITHOUT resizing everything? I've made a building something similar to a dome that goes around 1/4 of a circle. It is similar in a sense to the Burj Al Arab hotel. The problem I have is with the vertical height of each face along the outside. The vertical height of each floor (face/side) is at an backward length. I would Like to set the absolute value of the length for each face without scaling EVERYTHING. So, instead of a height of ~74' 7" I could change it to 50' Would I need a plugin for this? Do you know of one? It would be nice if I could dimension everything like Inventor/AutoCAD and then click and directly edit a length to what I want.
Is there a way to just a single littel tooltip taht shows the dimension of the selected item ? Cause I just want somehing a simple as that. When a rescale something, I only see the multiplacating factor (ex: Red Scale: 1.50), but i would want that in inches.
how do you do fine adjustments when moving a face, group, etc? cause what i see happens when i move something is it SNAPS to some key points, or grid.... Also, if you wanted to resize, or simply create something of a precise size, withOUT resizing everything in your project, how would you do that? for example, i draw a rectangular window on the wall, and i want to make it exactly 14.45x25.80 inches, is that possible?
is there any way to resize certain parts of the model? say i have several models within one file or project as concepts but i want them to be like real scale, some models are bigger than the others
here the hole model resize because of one thing.. can i resize this one thing without resizing the hole model ? because i just finished drawing my building but using unreal mesurements,so i want to resize every single thing in my model to real mesurements. can i do that ?if yes please tell me how. thank u
you dont have to click on that measure box. just type the new dimension on the key board out of the blue just after clicking the 2nd point of your measurement
Wow. You just saved me a lot of time. I am truly grateful. What a fantastic tip. Liked, check, Subscribed, check. Looking forward to seeing and learning more. I may just have found the "SketchUp Whisperer". FOR GOOGLE +: If anyone needs to resize a complicated model that you have spend hours building check this out. Today I almost had to change my model size bit by bit because I am building as I am making the drawing. I messed up a cut which caused the whole worry of many more hours spent on SketchUp. That is until I saw this video.
How to wake up that dialog box? My sketchup does not ask me if I want to resize it. Why the quality is so low? I am not able to read anything in the video. Why the sound is so low? I do not understand the comment. The trick could be surely explained in a few second. Why this have 6 minutes without any information?
Well, I got it at last. Use Tape Measure Tool and then type in the desired dimension to the Value Control Box. This is what is hidden in this 6 minutes video :-(. But anyhow, I needed to resize only one dimension of one my component (basically, change diameter of cylinder and keep its axe position and length.) Finally, I found that when using the Scale tool, I can to type in to the Value Control Box not only scale, but also dimensions! Instead of for instance 0.714, 0.714 I can type in 5m, 5m or 16', 16' or 192", 192" or so.
Aidan. I think you make GREAT vids. Always very informative. However, for me, you tend to orbit too much. The presentation becomes a bit dizzying at times. Might help if you take your hand off the mouse while you are discussing something that doesn't require you to point at it to make the viewer understand it.. This way, you won't have a tendency to move the mouse about quickly and unnecessarily.
