Brings back happy memories of my two 120s - from (can it really be?) 30-35 years back - though I left maintenance to the mechanics. Despite all the jokes, both of them were pretty reliable little daily drivers and did high mileages (20K pa) for me in the UK and abroad. Only had Skodas ever since.

Worked for haulage RDFL. On n/shift i decided for what ever reason at time, to sort out me rear breaks. Mechs maintaining the fleet knocked me up out of scrap metal, a pulley to get drum off cos of that fkn lock pin. Nothing was working, had fleet to load during shift as well. And needed car to get home after work. All attempts through the shift and this poxy drum or pin refusing to budge. Ended up putting strap onto mickey mouse pulley, and trying with fork truck to yank the barsteward off lol.... Memories aye! Me in a temper, dragging the fkn car round in circles, trying to dislodge a drum. 🙃😂🤣 Cheers Fella.

Ah sorry about reviving that memory for you 🤣🤣🤣 These came off fairly easily but still needed some pressure to get them to crack... I would think have that on the green one now as its a 130 setup on the back of that one now...

@@Mickhanic-garage I was the wrong guy going about job the wrong way with wrong tool lol (always in a rush) If i'd carried on, the axle would have been on the floor and the drum laughing cos still on!! Like yourself. Later, when i got the right pulley. Job didn't take long. Now i've to much time on hands. Your advice for novice on starter home welder kit plse.

@@MrMaxidc always easier with the proper tool 🤣 Welder... Hmm, get the best you can afford and a good brand, if its just a few occasion jobs a cheaper one will be fine. Bodywork doesnt need a high power welder. Gaskets Migs are more convenient but I have never used one so can't say how well they work. I use Hobbyweld gas and an old SIP welder I got new about 25 years ago, its getting tired now though.

love the simplicity of these cars compared to modern cars. even the plastic panel to adjust the handbrake. these cars will still be around when modern cars are scrapped because they need a main dealer only module coding.

Totally agree, I dont like modern stuff to work on or own during to the ridiculous electrical and Laptop only repairs.. More expense and trouble than it's worth..

I did clean them up a bit but they went bad quickly, I will polish them up a bit better, will get a but more polishing done to the paintwork too, but of welding to do then it's MOT time

This is the car version of polishing a turd. My grandfather had one of these back in the days and it's definitely one of the worst cars I've driven aside from FSO Polonez and Lada 1300.

Just found your channel and it took me back to when I use to read car mags religiously as a 20 something. There was a series where some one put a turbo on the engine and it became a q car. Have you thought of doing that?

I have thought about it but the 1.8 Skoda is a handful already and still using original gearboxes means it would shorted their life a lot 😆 Hope you like the channel, there is a lot to see, some newer cars but mostly old car ressurections
