Skullcandy Crusher Vs Sony XB950N1- Headphones For Bass Heads 

I don't understand how people can say the Crushers bass is "artificial sounding". Have they never had a subwoofer in their car? Cause that's the same sensation I get when I'm in my car lmao.

If you're standing anywhere near the front of the audience at a live gig you will feel major vibrations from the bass monitors. I know the Crushers are trying to replicate this effect and it's quite successful imo. They are headphones that make music very enjoyable. Use the bass slider carefully and it will improve most tracks..especially the poorly produced, older stuff.

you can get the crushers even if you have a big head.. just leave them stretched over the box for a day or two and it will fix your problem

If your looking for bass and I mean that subwoofer sounding bass get the crusher wireless if you looking for nice medium speaker sounding bass get a Sony but I mean god damn crushers are godly

I am a bass headhead myself. I have never listen to the sony mdr-xb 950B. However I just brought the skullcndy crusher wireless and the bass sound amzimg and very powerful to just like listening to a subwoofer in the car. This why I think the crusher wireless skullcndy beats and distory the sony xb950B hands down.

Skullcandy has fixed the clamping force and they have changed some technology

Most people like bass . Who set the audio file standard anyway . When you go to live concert , the bass you hear is a lot . Bass very important . Neutral sound definition is rubbish .

Haven't tried the Sony XB950N1, but I wish I had before I bought my crusher. The crusher bass boost is a cartoon gimmick when cranked up and unpleasantly dissonant at medium levels. I keep the slider below half and it works well enough for music and games. The crusher is meant for medium/smaller heads. The clamping pressure is no joke, and the ear cups are a little too small for me. When my crushers die (which I hear happens pretty fast because of issues I have yet to experience with the plastic) I do not intend to buy a second pair. I have trouble getting even 12-14 hours out of them though, must be a bad battery?

I got the crushers for my birthday and I loved them, the only problem is the bass only really seems good on the right song. Around a year later I got the sony n1's and I have to say the bass is amazingly more clear and hits harder, the only time I would recommend the crushers is if you're a crazy metal head. because I listen to EDM, pop, and rap. The sonys win in my book

The clamp on the skulls goes away. Just gotta wear them for like a week. I left mine clamped on the box for a day and it was pretty much gone

I have been using the crushers for almost 2 years now. the headband has began to crack, when extending the headband it has left black streaks on the stainless steel band. But I will continue to use them, as they sound great, and are the most comfortable headphones I have ever owned. But I think I might switch to the sony's now.

I own both and the reason I bought the Crushers was because this was the SECOND FRIKEN pair of MDR headsets I have broken!!! The Sonys are built very cheaply but with nice sound, I get it. The ear cup connections on the Sonys are so brittle I couldn't stand to buy a 3rd pair at over $150 again! So I went with the next best bass headset purely because of the nice design, build quality, and larger ear cups. Plus it's cool they stick to my head better for when I work out. Idk, we'll see. If the Sonys had the quality design of the Crushers I'd get em no doubt!

What about headphones for those that love bass guitar and not EDM chest thumping bass drums?

My head is as big as can be, but all I had to to was slide the headband down a little and stretch the ear cups over night on the box they came with, and now comfort isn't really a problem anymore with my Skullcandy Crushers. (I've had them for almost 3 months.)

I bought both, I had to return the Sonys, I have more control with the Crusher for the Bass.

Road to the end 2023 now, and I just purchased the clearance sale the new XB950B1 for 65$ over the secondhand skullcandy crusher at the same price. I hope I made right decision..

Personally, the crusher wireless was more comfortable and the 40 hour battery life sold me out.

The clamping goes away after a few weeks, so that’s no big deal. And the bass? Not even a contest. The Sonys are junk. Don’t listen to weak ears here, try for yourself before buying, and I guarantee any bass head will buy these every time.

I’ve had the crushers since 2017, bought them with my first salary and I loved them, I still love them but I can’t say the same thing about their build quality. Indeed it’s been a long time since 2017 but I have always been careful with my headphones and never did anything recklessly with them. My crushers started to crack in 2021 in all 4 corners on the arms that hold the ear ups. They cracked in all 4 corners where the arms meet the top part where the skullcandy logo is. I was able to deal with this issue of them cracking in those areas because I superglued them and I managed to fix them in a way. But unfortunately a couple months later the headband snapped in two, I have no idea why or how that even was possible but it did. The headband is made of plastic throughout its interior and it is not so stretchy, that’s why they have a strong clamping force on your head, but that can also be a reason for the headband to break after a few years due to normal usage. So if you ever bought the crushers and they haven’t broken down on you yet, they sure will the more you use them. I also got kinda tired of bassy headphones in general, my ears got sensitive to the bass and I no longer enjoy super bassy headphones of any kind so now I bought myself a pair of Bose QC45 and I’m in love, they’re the most comfortable headphones money can buy atm. and the sound is perfectly comfortable to listen to for hours and hours without giving you headaches like the crushers used to give me after a few hours of listening. Not to mention that with the QC45 I have heard sounds in my music that I had never heard before nor knew they were there - so a much better quality sounding headphone and much better tuned. Indeed the Bose won’t satisfy any basshead ever, but I just felt like mentioning this here because base is not always a healthy thing either on the long run, even the Sony XM4 have a base and a sound signature that kinda hurt my ears and I can’t possibly listen to them for too long without getting ear fatigued.

U didn’t mention skullcandy’s 2 year warranty and excellent customer service. I’ve had my ink’d earbuds go out probably 10 times on one side the earbuds do and skullcandy has sent me a replacement every time.

i got the crusher wireless .... sound quality ... the bluetooth works and is ok , but..... my "sound-blaster xfi wired into,, sound 10x better , even on my cell phone's headphone jack it sounded clearer + more deep-end bass ... i used the sony's for a bit then gave them to my 8yr daughter lol , good comparison - just crusher's W don't perform at peek on its bluetooth driver ... "on linux : i had to put the bluetooth buffer at 100ms to fix sound lag/stutter - (windows deflate it to 70ms) and uses activesync " -makes it impossible to competitively game with wireless " but i sure here more footsteps on CSGO with crusher over the sony's

Just don't lose your AUX cable if you get the Sony ones. I lost mine, and VERY FEW cables actually fit the goddamn hole. Of course they sell you an expensive replacement.

I have never tried the Skull Candy Crushers but I just bought the XB950N1s on 2-4-19 and I must say these are seriously my first set of large headphones vs ear buds and I love them. Last night I had to sample alot of stuff in my iTunes and it was a joy to use. It would be nice if Sony or someone could provide some support on which of the EQ settings benefit movies, hip hop, etc. I didn't like the carrying bag it came with so I immediately ordered a hardshell case on Amazon for $20. Built quality of crusher is good but when caught up with heat and moisture their hinges are gonna break the cushion literally tear apart from where it is supposed to hold the headphone.

The sonyN1 is for lounging around as for the crushers feel like I can exercise with them. But the N1 win

Darn I have Dumbo ears so the Sony won't work for me, and because the Crushers clamp so hard I can't get them because I have humpty Dumpty's head, I'm also ugly like Smeagol so I don't think any pair of headphones would stay on my head and just run away😔

I had the sony's for approximately 1 week and on the 7th day I took them off my head and the swivvle hinge snapped right off. I then bought the skull candy crushers and they actually stay in one piece lol.

I bought the the crusher, I wanted the Sony. I actually think the Sony sounds better IMO. Sony has a lot of bad reviews about breaking after a few months of ownership.

Skullcandy Crushers have such artificial bass. They have springs in the ear cuffs to vibrate your head. Just knock on the ear cuffs and find out yourself.

He only says that sony xb950n1 is better just because he likes them more than the crushers. I think that the skull candy crushers are much more better than the sony xb950n1 since it has better bass. In addition the sony is mostly made out of plastic atleast the crushers aren't made mostly out of that the head band is made out of metal this helps it to stop from snapping. As a result sony is cheap material made and the base aren't as good compared to the crushers. And to be honest there is nothing wrong with the sound quality on the crushers.

Bass on either is artificial on either, and obviously so, but when you look past the padding the actual driver depth isn't really anything interesting to be entirely honest. Besides, I think for a little extra the Sony wh1000x M2's are the best value for money with the inclusion of ANC and a whole host of other features. - Also, just to correct the video, but you don't need the app for bass features since there's an extra bass button. In general just go for the Sony when looking past the bass aspect, In terms of clarity and performance you can't beat a Sony within this price range. It's my preference at least, but I'm yet to be let down by Sony to be honest. Also, the quality of the skull candy drivers is pretty poor and I've tried them and could hear rattling and creeking so bad as well as a weird springy pop noise when I move my head. There's probably not a clear winner, since the bass probably destroys any prospect of a balanced and even soundstage, but you best bet is probably the Sony's for features and sound quality.

I have owned the Crusher Wireless for 3 months and they already broken, one of the sides just broke off completely because off weak plastic connecting the earcups. This probably wouldn't have happenend if the earcups would swivvle

I just bought the Sony mdr-XB950N1 because my skullcandy crushers where breaking down, but these Sony headphones suck. They sound so muddy and the bass is not that great. Maybe I got a bad faulty headset, but I’ll be returning them.

I tried both at the store. Skullcandy vibrates a lot and it's not bass in my opinion. Didnt enjoy it even one bit. Sony is really good. It appeared like bass we know it is. But on the other hand the skullcandy's battery life and build quality is world' ahead of the Sony's.

So, much like mtb biking I haven't thought about headphones in nearly 20 years. I travel for work so I must limit myself to what I can pack. Sound asleep air mattress for example.. More comfortable than 90% of real mattress setups even in vacation condos lol. Ok, I've listened to Bluetooth audio from my LG HBS 910 for over a year. Currently, living in California the noise is ever present. Thinking of buying a small smart TV I now need quality headphones. Ive researched everything from out of my price Beyerdynamic, several Sennheiser, Bose, and Sony. All other brand fans knock Bose for their fake sound - not referring to their bass levels here rather their complete sound. Bose has the best noise canceling. Not seen any reviews on the aviators but I don't have $1,200 either. The Sennheiser I really want to like, however too many folks say comfort isn't all day. I have a bucket head so comfort is important. Bose seem to get everyone's attention, more so the 35's.. Soundlink (1 and 2) don't compare well I guess. Then, the headphones that are prone to cracking at the can's swivel point keeps nudging ahead of the competition. The mdr-1000 and the xb950n1 are rivals not to be laughed at. I would look into a hard case option for the 950"s if I decide to buy them.. You have me gawking at the 1000's really hard just because Sony doesn't offer a quick charge and the 950"s take an additional 3hrs you say. Not an issue honestly I'm looking for more reasons to buy the mdr's. Your review basically took the highlights of the past 15 videos I've watched and phrased it perfectly. Secondipity or whatever is selling refurbished 1000's for 229 and the 950n1 are around 100 on both ebay/Amazon.. I've been skeptical about refurbished but after reading for hours now I'm ready to pull the trigger on a pair of Sony mdr 1000x for 229! Just gotta head down to the local shop and demo these 2 models.. While I'm not Dumbo I do have that 5 gallon head so.

I need a response before black friday! I've noticed the sonys have quite alot of bad reviews all of the same issue, the pivet peice broke from normal use and Sony won't help them. I've heard no serious durability issues regarding skullcandys. What do you think? I'm worried. I like the sonys I think more, but they seem to break commonly from normal use as I said. I messed with them a little in the store and they seemed strong enough but I'm not sure

I have Sony and Skullcandy. Sony is much better than Skullcandy for me. Skullcandy enhances only some bass sounds - not all bass notes. In Sony all bass notes sound great. Other band is also much better in Sony - more transparent and clear.

all basshead headphones without AMP are downgraded .. if U want power bass U must AMP it . best what i heard are fostex TH900 MKII i am fucked up .. best bass headphones ever created ....OK now to sony 950N1 i heard them on my IFI audio idsd BL i must say bass was increased around 50% .. maybe crusers are better then sony .. someone should try them with amp there are 2 drivers ..2 drivers need more power then one
