Hey buddy how are you? I just checked out your channel and noticed that you have recently purchased a Tormach machine. Congratulations on your purchase. Lots of people are making cool parts on their Tormach. Let me know when you upload some videos of you spinning bits and ripping chips. Cheers, Aaron.
Hi Dray, oh please do mate. I would love to see you CNC mill and controller. Not many people have the Adtech controller, but I think they are fantastic. Please let me know when you post the vids? Cheers, Aaron.
chucka103 Hey buddy. Thanks for watching. Happy to hear that you're enjoying the vids. As long as blokes like you keep watching, the big fella will keep making them. Cheers Chucka 👍
Sweet vid Aaron! Loved the 4mm cut at the end. Now you know you can easily do 2mm stepdowns. :) I'm currently working on soft jaw blanks myself. The monster jaws that I've been using are for Kurt vises. Mine's a knock off, so the holes are for 10mm bolts, so I figured I'd make a bunch of jaws that will fit better.
Hey Mike, great to hear from you mate. Hey thanks for watching too. Sorry the video was so long, but I wanted to cover everything from start to finish. I agree with you. So many people purchase ready made soft jaws. I like the idea of making your own. Yes mate, you should have seen the "fat little fellow" jump out of his chair when I hear the mill load up. Mate, I've never moved so fast ha ha ha. I actually got an elevated heart rate from it ;-)
Hi Micheal, always great to hear from you buddy. Loved the photos your sent me via SMS. You're doing some real nice work up there on your Tormach PCNC 1100. You need to upload some more videos and teach us plebs how it's done lol. Cheers, Aaron.
On the contrary mate. You are a bloody smart cookie if you ask me. Especially for an electrician ha ha ha. Hey it could be worse, you could be a motor mechanic like me ;-)
Awesome to see it working! The camera angle was excellent two, great footage. Did you shoot that on your Sony? It look like you had your shutter speed turned up, which I liked.
russtuff Hey Rus. Great to hear from you. I like your garage / shop update mate. Can't wait to see it finished. Yes, I shot internally with my Sony HDR200 and externally with my Sony VG30A. Cheers buddy
Hey mate it's James from nyatiblades awesome video makes me green with envy :D still trying to get my bf20lv conversion going having problems with the induction sensors not showing up in mach 3 properly :(. That Skyfire is so nice love the tidy package it comes in.
Hi James, great to hear from you bud. Trust all is well with you up there on the sunny GC? It's been cold and miserable down here for way to long now. Yes I'm so happy with the little Skyfire SVM1-VMC. It's hasn't skipped a beat since I've got. A couple of minor issues, but we're working through them. Cheers mate, Aaron.
very nice video. This might be very obvious to most machinist but I am not one but I am really interested on how clean you have left your machine after you finished the job. In the future could you maybe show some of the basic house cleaning tips to keep the machine so clean after a job like that. Do you only use the air gun to push all the shavings down?
Hello Jaime and thank you for watching. You've raised a very good question and I'll try my best to answer it for you. I was always taught that you should never use compressed air to blow any machine down. I only used compressed air on the part in the vice upon opening the door. Most larger CNC machines have a wash down gun which sprays coolant. I don't have one, so I install a piece of hose on the coolant line and wash my machine down with that. I try to do this at the end of each day, or at the end of a large job. Cheers, Aaron.
The Skyfire machines look interesting. I'm worried about how they will provide support when something breaks. I also don't understand why they don't list pricing on their website - it makes it hard to compare them to known quantities like Haas and Tormach.
G'day Mick. Very sorry I missed this comment all those years ago. I'm just catching up now. Give the SF a miss mate. The new Syil X7 is much better machine. Cheers, Aaron. 👍
Great video Aaron! I really enjoyed that you take it from cad to cam to programming the tool offsets in the controller and last onto milling the parts. If you have the time and are willing I would really like to se some videos when you program the controller for tools, macros etcetera. I find it really interesting. I downloaded the manual and read through it, it's useful albeit somewhat hard to get a grip on at the same time. :-) Does the controller have a ehternet interface to pick up the code from a NAS or FTP server? Or is it only USB of DNC? With a modern machine and controller I would really appreciate the possibility to pick up the code through a regular LAN. Been using Mach3 for years and going back to running back and forth with a thumbdrive doesn't sound like fun to me. ;-) Keep up the good work, I'm really enjoying your videos.
Patrik J Hi Patrick and thank you, as I'm glad you enjoyed my video. I will try to make more Skyfire / Adtech video in the future. Yes the manual is hard to get a grip on, as the poor English doesn't help. I did open up the controller panel and I do recall see another smaller USB plug. Cheers Aaron
Did you find the controls familiar or was there a curve? I like the little step you cut in the jaws, thats a nice touch. That 4mm cut was very impressive, like hot knife through butter! That FK up looked more like a time saver :) kind of like a clip from Titan CNC! I wonder what was the actual spindle load was? Now it's time for me to get familiar with the CAM portion of Fusion 360!
Hey mate, yes it was a small learning curve. However, I just really applied what I already knew from the HAAS controller, Mach-3 and the Masso interface. Honestly, if I can do it anyone can (as I'm not that bright lol). Yes, I was surprised to hear that machine when it took the 4mm cut. Mate, I launched out of my chair and literally ran across the air. However, I was very surprised that it did it so easily. Cheers, Aaron
Very cool, keep those Fusion 360 Cam and Adtech control videos coming! Love watching that Skyfire run. Then I may have a clue when mine gets here....sure could use it now.
For sure, I most certainly will. I might even do a video of setting up the controller from start to finish (power on, homing, jogging, MDI, work offset, tool offsets). What do you reckon?
Very nice to see the chips flying! I see that you did you CAD/CAM in F360. Do they have a post for the Skyfire controller, or do you just use a generic post?
Hell and thanks for watching. I had the post processor tweaked for me. Scott Moyse from CADPro NZ did it for me as we have our CSP with them. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I shared it? However, I have been told that the generic Fanuc post works also. Cheers, Aaron.
Great Video! very interested in this machine. Need to save my piggy bank... I am interested in more information on your gx-31 gas heli conversion and the modifications you made to the engine and how you did the clutch assembly. do you have any more images or videos on it you would be willing to share?
Hi Matthew, yes I agree mate. The SkyfireCNC is little ripper. Sure no problem. Can you send me an email and I'll see what I can find. My email is on the about section of my channel page. Cheers, Aaron.
Hi Ben and thank you. I've just recently switch over. I was using Houghton's HoCut 795, but now I'm using CimcoolCIMSTAR®50-60K. I get this through Iscar Australia as they are the importer. Thanks for watching. Aaron :-)
Aaron, Jack here. After watching you blaze through the controller setup I'm kind of apprehensive of getting the industrial controller. I've been a Mach 3 guy forever and it seems there's going to be a huge learning curve for me. Is it as different as it seems or am I just over thinking the whole thing.
Hello Jack, great to hear from you mate. Trust me Jack when I say this, Do Not go with Mach-3. You will regret it. The industrial controller does have a slight learning curve, but it is easily achievable. I will make a comprehensive video soon on how to operate it. Jack, if I can learn it mate anyone can. Cheers, Aaron.
That's great Aaron. I was really glad to hear that. I was going to ask if you'd do a little Adtech tutorial for all of us guys who have been stuck in the Mach 3 world for so long but I know you are busy with your own projects so I did not want to ask. I'm about 4 weeks into my order with Skyfire and a few weeks to go. Hopefully 45 to 55 days becomes a reality. I am jazzed.
Aaron, if you ever need anything from the states shipped over let me know. I'm in the Los Angeles area and I ship motorcycle regulator kits to Australia all the time. I'm happy to post stuff your way if the need arises.
Hey Jack, that is very kind of you mate. Thank you for offering that service to me ;-). I've been talking to another SkyfireCNC user over your way. He's name is Otto (Eon_Machining on Instagram). He's just purchases a Skyifre SVM0 machine.
Hi Aaron great to see you use the Skyfire. Btw, are you by any chance involved with the Masso controller? Just found out about that, and it looks very interesting..
Hello Arnljot, thank you and yes I'm loving my little SkyfireCNC. It's been a great little investment for me and it working like a charm. Yes, I have used the Masso controller and I have posted a few videos on it. I have no connection or investment int he company. I found it to be really really good and I would be happy to use it again sometime down the track. Cheers, Aaron.
Nicholas Miller Hey Nick, thanks for watching mate. Yeah I bought 2 x 4" Vice because they were so cheap ($130usd) each. Sure they're not Orange, Gerardi, or Kurt's, but for the money I can't complain. Cheers Aaron
I like the skyfire machine you have. Could you do a video of how the control works and how to navigate it. What's different in terms of post processing and g and m code for this machine as compared to a HAAS machine? Can you switch the control between metric and standard modes like a haas?
That's an awful lot of button pressing to change and measure a tool! Does the adtech have scripting ? I'm going to fit one of my probes to my mill later. I'm using uccnc as the controller. Rigid tapping, probing etc is easy with it.
automateanything yes it has a built in tool setter. I’m not sure if you can measure out all tools like the Haas or other machines I’ve used. Was too lazy to figure it all out so did it manually fit the vid. Yes heard good things about ucnc.
Hi Aaron, great video. I am also following Salvun and I enjoy you both very much in your endeavour with Skyfire. Did you also need to take measures for leakage? Greetings Herri in China. ( by the way: you need tools / I am in the business. )
SURE D hello and thanks for watching. Yes I had a few coolant leaks that I’m still battling with. Yes Pieter @salvun is a great guy. Hey what tools do you have? I’ll check out your RU-vid now. Cheers Aaron
In YT I have only one video. Just a small fun thing. Basically I still don't have enough time to make new ones. Tools: in general all kinds of tools. I am mostly engaged in CNC related tooling, but not limited. Cutters, holders, inserts, precision measuring tools and so on. In the case of heavy goods, I usually cannot compete with local suppliers at the destination who receive their goods by sea freight. Air-Express charges eliminate the purchase advantage for heavy goods. So just contact me with your needs at sales@sured.com or sales@diy3dp.space I / we will figure the best options out. By the way: I am German. 14 years in China.
funny .. When you have an ATC , you use 7-9 tools for a job.. When you dont have one , you manage the cam to run a complete part with 1 tool , and worst case 2 (- '
