Uh Oh, here we go again. Night Mother:"YET ANOTHER CHILD.... HAS PRAYED TO THEIR MOTHER...... SPEAK TO THE DEMANDING COMMENTER FOR THICCNESS IN RU-vid, ACCEPT HIS GOLD AND ELIMINATE THE TARGET... HAIL THE LISTENER, HAIL SITHIS!!"
Theirs some hidden lore on him he cares about his men and he used to use a sword and shield untill his hands were charred trying to save his men. He started using magic because he lost the ability to use his sword and shield.
I still imagine Otar the Mad as unceasingly slamming his dead hands into the sarcophagus's lid, headbutting it, silently screaming and thrashing maniacally, for four-thousand years. Then he gets let out and immedeately some oaf in fancy armor smashes a Dragon's hipbone through his head. :D
Is there just way too little lore on Nahkriin? I mean he's the one guarding the entrance to Sovngarde, in Skuldafn. I feel as if he's got to be pretty important.
I've often thought that. You get ones like Morokei, Hevnoraak and Otar with cool stories and lore behind them. Then you have ones like Nahkriin, Volsung and Krosis who are kind of just there? Like filling the numbers. Seems a shame to me. I reckon the Dragon Priests could've been some really cool sub-bosses had Bethesda fleshed them out a little more. I mean aside from Nahkriin you don't ever really need to face any of the others.
After defeating Hevnorak at Valthume, and allowing Valdar to finally be at peace, I always take his helmet, sitting there by his throne in front, and enchant it so I can rename it "Valdar's Helm," as a momento. I usually put a Restoration enchantment on it, since that is the school of magic that has the Turn Undead spell. And that's pretty much what Valdar was doing for 4000 years.
Best one was Vahlok. He was just a nice guy, honorable and willing to fight a madman. If only we could recruit his spirit to help up take out Miraak in Mora's realm.
That should have been an option. Awaken Vahlok and recruit him in your battle with Miraak. The Light Side option would be to work with Vahlok to take him down, and the Dark Side option would be to work with Hermaeus Mora to take him down.
It sucks that there wasn't an option to join Miraak. But noooo Bethesda just had to make the Dovakin the good guy in the game. Even though you can join shit like the Dark Brotherhood, and the thieves guild.
Gotta say though, the "reason" Alduin appears at that exact time is *BECAUSE* of the civil war "As the scrolls have foretold Of black wings in the cold That come unfurled when brothers wage war Alduin, bane of kings Comes with a hunger to swallow the world" Or so I remember
You are right, but I'll correct the quote. "And the scrolls have foretold of black wings in the cold That when brothers wage war comes unfurled Alduin, Bane of Kings ancient shadow unbound With a hunger to swallow the World!"
Your Friendly Neighbour Hood Lean Dealer only google it if you have a strong stomach. It was a cult that moved down to South America, the leader decided to kill everyone by having them drink flavoraid (offbrand koolaid) laced with cyanide so they’d “ascend to heaven” or something. A horrible, horrible thing that my description here barely does justice.
What about the dragon priest from the College of Winterhold quest. He fricking talks to us and casts cool spells as well as some other stuff that I won’t spoil. I though he was the coolest dragon priest.
That is not how it went with Rahgot. From the journal of the one who attacked: '27th of Sun's Dusk 1E139 It sounds impossible, but we appeared to have stumbled upon a massive hold out of the Dragon Cultists, who were believed to be wiped out during the Dragon War. The Elves must wait, as this is a threat we cannot ignore. If we are quick, we may be able to catch them unaware and avoid a lengthy siege.' They were in the area looking for SNOW ELVES, not Raghot and his followers.
Still waiting for Nate to do his intro on the ' 10 tiny details we may have missed' series in the dragon tounge.... but as always, still very happy with the content
@@justmonifer I looked at a dragon language "dictionary" and was surprised to discover that there doesn't seem to be a word for "big." The closest I could come up with was "Ni Mal" which translates as "Not Small."
@@pachicore The first time I killed him, I knew NOTHING about the dragon priests. I just thought he was a boss. So I shot him a hundred or so times with a hunting bow. He never saw me.
@@krupplet First time I faced him I was a complete noob and he drained the fuck out of my magicka so I was basically useless and got wrecked. Years later I know how his pathing is predictable and you can easily play a little hide and seek :v
Great video as always, Nate. Maybe for your next project you can take a look at some Dwarven ruins, either actual dungeons or some small things that dot the map such as Deep Folk Crossing.
Gah, Rahgot. At first I was just ransacking the place, picking up everything in sight, vaguely aware that Rahgot's followers poisoned themselves - then I saw the mass graves with the children's bodies, and all the flowers. That made me stop and really look at what was going on.
The dragon priests were always so interesting to me. Some greatly differ with morality from godly good to neutral to down right evil. Then you have the pseudo priests as well. Wish we had a quest to actually talk to one. Besides Mirrak of course as he’s technically ex dragon priest
i like to roleplay that Vahlok isnt fighting my Dragonborn because their a soulless husk, but that he's testing me to find me worthy enough to finish what he started when it comes to fighting Miraak.
I love how there’s like three elder scrolls youtubers all telling the same stories and the lore over and over again, but I keep watching it all anyways.
Dovahkiin: I don't know, your temple was burned to shit. Mirak: That's because I left a cigar burning on the nightstand! Dovahkiin: Sure, if by cigar you mean Vahlok and a legion of pissed-off dragons!
Alternative ways Nate can say Skyrim is a massive game he hasn't said: Skyrim is a Thicc game. Skyrim is the Hitomi Tanaka of the video games Skyrim is a big chungus of a game Skyrim is the Motumbo of video games
What's more terrifying: the stories behind the Priests or the fact we slay them to death, rip off their faces and wear them or show them on a statue in our house?
Nate, I gotta give it to ya. The effort you put into these videos is amazing and doesn't go unnoticed. From your cinematography for playing out the scenarios, to looking up the lore and giving it to us so we don't have to, all the way to your charisma while recording. Thank you so much for giving me and so many others the depth and lore we so crave. Always supported and always whitelisted on my ad block so i can help you earn what you deserve. Keep it up dude, and i always look forward to your next work of art
I wished the encounters with the priests were similar to Morokai when we go in the tombs. They just start screetching when you mess with their nap time...
From what I understand, the dragon war mainly happened because of the dragon priests in Skyrim. Apparently the dragon priests in Atmora were pretty fair rulers, as opposed to most of those in Skyrim being rather tyrannical. If the dragon priests had reigned in their evil ways, the dragon war may have never happened at all.
"and driving the snow elves to the brink of *total* extinction" Gelebor(and Vyrthur): BiSh WhAt Am I? a RoAcH? (I know this is stupid but i saw the chance to comment this and took it im sorry)
This might just be my favourite of all your Skyrim vids. Very well done, and five great stories. Rahgot honestly stunned me the first time I did this quest - the note you find about the children was absolutely chilling. I’d love to see more lore videos about characters like Barenziah or something similar. There are so many great stories that tie into Skyrim that you don’t get to experience unless you actually read the books in this or previous games, so a series about the most interesting characters you don’t ever actually meet in Skyrim would be cool.
he also talked to you whilst draining your magicka, killed everyone in Savos Aran's expedition team except for Aran himself, as Aran tributed his two friends to seal Morokei (all that effort and he still can talk to you as you enter labyrinthian), dude's crazy
At the end of the quest "A cornered rat" and the beginning of the quest "Alduin's wall" If you run out of the ratway without Esbern and go straight to Delphine and proceed to talk to her you can get some unique dialogue, where Delphine will proceed to yell at the Dovahkiin ordering them to come back when they have Esbern with them. Also if you don't say Skyrim is a THICC game. I will have to order a shill.
The Dragon Priests are awesome, perhaps most of all because of their masks. I have all nine (ten if you count the Wooden Mask) from vanilla and I'm wearing Konahriik, I can't wait to get the perk for tempering enchanted items. The only one I have from Solstheim is Zahkriisos, but that is going to change in the next day or so.
@@goldedrag111 Over the past year, when I did go back and play Skyrim, I managed to get all of them on Solstheim too. I'm only playing on an ancient 360 with no mods, so that's it for me.
I never really looked into the dragon priest lore but I always collected their masks as soon as I could but the ones that comes to mind the most is Nahkriin and Krosis and I don’t remember why I remember it so much
Funny that this was the first video I saw when I opened YT. I literally just finished the dragon priest mask sidequest and got Konahrik like... ten minutes ago.
@TheEpicNate315 hey man! I have a question. Lately I've been drawing a bunch of fanart on twitter. Do you have any requests that I could do for you? :3
why do you keep reading "women / wives and children" as if they were the most tragic loss? in skyrim they are not! you can lose many other much greater valued things... stop reading "women and children" as if all Tamriel's innocence is wasted over them! because Tamriel has no innocence in it! it's a blood bath fighting arena no one is innocent here!
Great lore video, Nate! Dragon Priest Otar reminds me a lot of King Leoric from Diablo lore. Horrible circumstances drove him to madness and he became The Skeleton King.
I think I may have a tiny detail for you, u less you've covered it already: In the book Horker Attacks, it mentions a hunter named Gromm. In Oblivion, the bodyguard to one of the Dark Brotherhood targets was named Gromm.
Valok could've been the only Dragon Priest we could engage in a conversation with. Like possibly, we could learn how he incapacitated Mirrak the first time and use some of his knowledge against our battle with Mirrak in Aporapha. Then he could've requested the Dragonborn to defeat him in battle so he knows we're the real deal
Hi. I’ve been an avid player of the TES since Oblivion was released. Sadly, my vision is no what it once was. Do you know of a mod for the PS4 that would let me change the size of the dialogue and menu text in Skyrim?
I sent the question to Reddit & will let you know if I get a yes or no. I play on PC and we've got SkyUI & SkyUI XL for even bigger fonts. You can go into SkyUI's mod menu & customize fonts. I don't have a PS4 so I can't check for myself. But I'd at least look up SkyUI in your mod library to see if it's available. Also, it changes the menus a little but makes them significantly easier to navigate without changing the feel. So if you do download it, you won't be thrown off by the change.
As i watched this vid, i assumed that it could be a pretty dated video, because i usually watch older videos. I was vastly surprised to see this was made TODAY. Like, thats awesome that you still make content like this man, definitely some of the most entertaining content on the platform. Keep em coming!
I love your videos watch them all the times. Love the random encounters videos ran into the mad women on top of a snow mountain out of no where. she kept telling me master on vacation and i need to careful was hilarious encounter.
I still think that "Solstheim splitting from the mainland" quote in "The Guardian and the Traitor" is Nordic hyperbole. I think what they mean by that statement is Solstheim splitting culturally from the mainland. The power of the dragon cult in Solstheim would have been severely diminished after the loss of so many dragons, and with the winged beasts dealing with the rising tensions between the priests and the Nords of Skyrim, they wouldn't have paid much attention to Solstheim.
Nate, you did it again! I really like the way you pull all the details together about each Dragon Priest. Thank you. btw on another subject, is there anything special when you finally get all the dragon shouts?
Wow that was THICC man. I really liked that. I think the dragon priest that defeated mirak was the best story. Fills in why Mirak was in Mora's Part of oblivion for so long. I cant read the books well from the distance i play. So alot of lore is missed. If I had my way, they would add zoom to books. Don't know why Bethesda didn't. Hopefully es6 will.
Azidal’s boots of water walking I always kept with me. But I realized they weighed too much so I gave them to my Dwarven Armored Mudcrab. But then my Creation Club stopped functioning so he disappeared and the boots went with him 😢😢😢.
@@steveowens5815 bro I only had the restoration spell and I'm a 2 handed guy so I had wait till my companion went in and then I could heal. I had stamina potions I could run away a lot. But I kept getting lost in kolbjorn barrows winding halls. He's difficult no matter who you are.
